Pld 75 today! 3rd 75 GO! Now the macros for all the new gear and a few merits xD

Good news for you is that, for idling with shadows up, you can use almost all of your DRG TP gear and have a pretty awesome PLD going^^

I started a 9-man Apollyon static with some friends, and we finally did our first Omega yesterday. Went well. Could've farmed some chips, but decided to just get a win in the books for our first time.

We beat Omega so bad, but we didn't tear him limb from limb... instead... we got his @#%^ing EYES! All two of them baby!

Oh... wait... /notaccomplishment

Do you have a mule who can repeat the quest?

Despite being R/E, this is one of the few items that can be traded. I think it can even be sent via delivery box, but I'm not sure on that one.

Omega finally put out tonight for my group tonight, and Homam hands get! I feel like a real PLD now with hands/legs/feet

Got valor legs free lot the other day in Tav, leaving me with just the body to get now.

Also snagged assjammer + N head (5/5 woot!) free lot from my first fafnir yesterday (don't hate me ._.;)

VERY long time coming, but I finally have Atonement. And Nyzul 100. Funny they both hit at the same time...

Has nothing to do with the four groups that broke up, the one that finally pushed to 91 then finished with 4/6, forgetting to START the quest to unlock Atonement before generating 2000 WS's, and totally getting burned out on it only to get the epic win on Cerberus on floor 100..... Nothing at all to do with that! I swear!

Finally :). Thanks to everyone here for schoolin' me proper in the ways of PLD since I started, so I know just how excited to be!

Nah, back on page 19 you can see when I got hands heh. One thing that makes this so gratifying is that I joined a Limbus LS in September, when the leaders were all just about ready to quit (not that they told new recruits) since they'd already gotten their Homam. When it disbanded right after I got my Manopolas, I decided to make my own low-man static. With 8 people (PLD, WHM, WAR, SAM, COR, BLM, BLM, RDM) we were able to farm 2 chips per night and do Omega, and things went well... except for our drops.

Total loot from our first 5 Omegas: 5 Zucchettos, 1 Gambieras, 1 pop lost because I (solo kiter) DC'd during the fight, and 1 pop stolen because I got a buyer for the Zucchetto who disbanded from the alliance with Omega at 1%, opened the chest, and transferred servers. Shortly thereafter, I lost 3 members to RL stuff for a while, and was feeling pretty discouraged, since I needed more people on one hand, but didn't want to recruit more people and have to gear them and stay in Limbus forever (pun~). I also hate leading groups and then breaking them up without everyone getting what they came for.

But with a lot of effort and help from friends and randoms we've managed to bounce back and are finally getting some decent loot^^

Was a couple weeks ago, but Algol get. I very rarely break out a GS on PLD, but it's fun to play around with in campaign, besieged etc. Capped skill, full heca etc can dish out some pretty impressive numbers with spinning slash. That being said: Is ground strike worth unlocking?

Atonement: O.

Finally convinced my endgame shell to let me come PLD for a minor event (they usually have me come SAM, even though I prefer to be PLD), and they were generally impressed. Managed to convince them to let me come PLD to a more major event the next day.

Who knows, this may open the floodgates. All I really need is experience on the big stuff (and some Homam, probably) and I think I could be a valuable asset.

The shell is oversaturated with PLDs and I was late to the party, which is why I'm usually SAM. But hopefully this will at least get them to consider me for events that need multiple tanks. And maybe I can work my way up the ladder.

Edit: got asked to come PLD again tonight, for sky farming this time. Rocked some Aura Statues and a boob.

This is looking promising. :D

Finished all my merits for PLD. Only way to merit anything else on PLD is to merit things I'm not interested in (Club, stave, etc). Now to work on BLU merits.

Wow... after calculating how many merits I've spent... I've spent 207 merits on PLD. Sheesh. I'm glad a lot of that applies elsewhere, too!

Polearm 8/8 (Not really for PLD, but SAM and DRG are on the way up)

Decided against Guardian as the tests I've done show it doesn't decrease VE decay at all (compared against one PLD with 2 merits and another with 4 merits). Iron Will just doesn't cut it.

There are almost none, besides Prudence, unless you want to tank sub-optimally. Helm is nice for Spinning Slash and PDT kiting though! Grats on Mail^^

Raynael is officially retired. Thank you to everyone on this forum for maintaining this bastion of sanity in a world very hostile to the thinking man's PLD. Devoting my time in-game to PLD was a rewarding and fun experience, but it was also tough, since I always felt, and continue to feel, that the PLD idling in full AF2 with a Sattva Ring always got more respect out of the gate. Yeah, we could prove ourselves, and I think I did in my time... but I also spent way too much time in this game dealing with the illogical hostility marked by the "PLD should idle in VIT gear and never blink" crowd (I've always been one to try to talk it out instead of /blisting, which... yeah :/). It's a strange experience, and can be alienating.

On the other hand, this forum is a great example of people fighting the good fight. It doesn't always take a parse, and in fact, it usually doesn't (taking a Deadly Hold while wearing no armor, but with a shadow up, as opposed to taking one /WAR with full "tanking" (heavy quotes) gear, should be enough to convince anyone, although it's not, bizarrely). In the end, I was inspired to strike out my own path, and basically did it all on PLD. My parting message to up and coming PLDs is that almost anything can be done on this job. If need be, make your own parties, make your own statics, make your own linkshell if you have to, because at the end of the day, it's all a lot more fun when you don't have to compromise your playstyle to match the conformist norm in the areas in which it's senseless. Who knows how the game will change, but there will always be the naysayers who substitute narrow-minded haranguing for thoughtful criticisms. Do what you find fun to be sure, but be willing to deviate from the norm and see what your options are.

PLD is a great job, and I just hope that in updating it, SE goes with what makes sense as opposed to outmoded ideas of thinking about tanking. Best of luck to all of you in whatever you do, and keep up the good work :)
