You know you've been a pld too long when...Follow

You try to level other jobs and hit your old voke macro, only to find out you don't have voke.

In those same "other jobs" you go insane because you're not the tank, and find yourself bored.

You really do love taking revenge on the undead because of all the times they killed your pt back when you were war.

You think it's kinda fun to watch the war or ninja try to voke a mob off you, TRY being the main word.


If you don't die first in your pt when something goes terribly wrong you feel as if you didn't do your job well. (say, puller linked 3 or 4 mobs somehow)

lol that was a good topic, I find myself saying yes to many of them.

I disagree with the keeping IM armor part...

I opt for:
-You willingly wear insanely ugly armor with high def or VIT boost just so you can tank better (but will swap it out when you're out of battle because it is so ugly).
-You can't seem to find any decent armor post AF till you hit adaman level, so you keep window shopping everyday till you get there.
-Oooh and ahhh over the damage you did the first time you hit a mob with 300%TP and full HP with Spirits Within, and made sure everyone noted that damage. \(^.^)/
-Cry when your blm laughs about building 0.1 evasion from overnuking, because you still feel like it's your fault. (>.<;)
-Carry an odd assortment of belts and rings to prep for different party types.

- you know exactly how long 30 seconds is without having to actually count.
For the most part, yes.
- you hit the provoke macro upon engaging someone in Ballista.
Well that'll be my goal. Stand by a Rook and Provoke someone away when they're running toward it, while my DRK friend leaps out of the bushes and Last Resout+Soul Eater's them to death.
- you cannot understand what is so scary about having red hp.
Well I understand, but I'm used to it.
- you have mysteriously grown addicted to the colour white.
White's my favorite color, yes.
- you have mastered the art of engaging, provoking and flashing a mob within 1/100th of a second.
Nope, when I try it says "Command error".
- any other job has too little defense for your taste.
In the long run, yes.
- you feel natural getting hit when you draw aggro while levelling your blm.
Not really.
- you've become used to seeing a rdm farm faster than you do.
I don't get it.
- intimidating an undead creature gives you an inexplicable surge of delight.
Yup.
- tanking 3 mobs at 30 hp while the blm casts escape feels fun.
Sure would.
- you feel sad whenever you don't die in dynamis.
I'm not looking forward to death and never do, unless it means someone else NOT dieing
- you start getting depressed if a mage dies before you do.
I feel depressed if almost ANYONE dies before I do.
- you fall in love with the rdm in your party.
Close, I'm marrying my White one :p
- the Rampart/Savage Blade animation sends shivers down your spine.
Haven't seen it yet.
- you walk in dark places and gleefully note how well you show up in them in your AF.
I bet I will.
- you walk in Valkurm and and revel in the fact that you almost match the sand.

- the sound of your armour when it clinks on hard surfaces is music to the ears.

- you spend time in your moghouse just walking around admiring your armour.

- anything with VIT or Enmity beside a large number makes you start grinning :DDDDD
Of course.
- you /salute a fellow paladin friend and neither of you think it's corny.
Er... I salute friends and only friends regardless of Class.
- you feel like buying the Ritter Shield just for that 'big shield+paladin' goodness.
Haven't heard of the Ritter Shield
- and you have a Koenig/Kaiser Shield.
Or the Koenig or Kaiser Shield.
- you level pld to 75 and feel like levelling it all over again on your mule.
NO.
- you used Holy Circle while levelling in Valkurm just to show you were a paladin.
I don' tlike to brag too much, and it'd just make otehrs who want to be a Paladin feel bad.
- you cried in happiness upon holding off your first Benediction without using Invincible.
What a magical moment that was.

Here are a few of mine.

- Your happy to die because it gives you a chance to level up shield/parry more for that level.
- You know within 20 seconds of the fight starting if your fighting a turbo mob *moer powerful version othe the others*
- When you thought about leveling up Warrior and Ninja so that you have more opertunity to max out your shield and parry.

And my big one for me, your planning on going RDM next and using your huge parry/shield skill to become even more powerful then the usual ones.

When you think diying is cool IF you do it nobaly.

You get a SMN with Shivah, who casts her blink spell on you...

And you don't like it.

I got a few...

- If you have a SMN in party you take off Stoneskin and Blink so you get hit more to keep hate

- Try to use Shield Bash on the gob to stop bomb in Kazham when youre a WAR with a GAX

hope i get this right...first time replying to a thread..if u see something silimar to this it's cuz that's my first attempt...something whent wrong and i lost it...uggghhn here' goes

some new ones:

- you run out of mp and 2 warriors voke and a whm spam cures you....then curses when there's no change in aggression-guilty

-(low-level in Quifim) you are hit after losing 1-200 hp and say: awwwww only 80 damage!?
-guilty of above but it was 65, not 80

LOL That happened to me in Crawler's the other day. SMN put up blink and stoneskin and I was like: "..." It felt strange to have full HP ten seconds into the battle.

Yep, SMN is a good one! I remember cursing under my breath when I realized that I wasted Sentinal and/or Rampart because Blink/Stoneskin was up. So now I just let the mob eat up blink of the melee if I can at the start of the fight; just one Voke and let it turn, hehe.

My PTs know now - If you have blink up, expect to tank for at least a couple attacks - as long as it doesn't screw up Trick.

Yes, but you need to take damage to cure for hate. Which gives you more hate than simply not taking damage.

You know youve been playing paly for to long when...

* You play blm in dunes and tank cauz the war suck
* When you sub paly while lvl whm with kabobs
* When ya want to be the first pt member to die
* When you see the hp of other pt member going down make ya mad
* When ya start subing wierd job when solo cauz war is boring
* When ya in red and keep fighting hu? red health whats that?
* When ya see bad equip paly make you want to kill him in ballista or give trick to farm.
* When you lvl whm and cant stand away from melee
* Last one ya know when youre paly for to long when death becoming funny hehe.

Realy nice post hehe need some others like that hehe

- When you first comment after dying but the party escaping is "Eh, well at least everyone else is ok."

i was in crawlers and some jerk trained about 15 rumble and soldier crawlers all the way to the zone... It screwed up the nest for at least 2 hours while they made there way back and then someone would agro em and train em again. So while fighting some flies a rumble agros and i voke it to save us... our blm wasn't on the ball w/ escape and he finally starts casting right after I die. as soon as this happens i said this and my thf goes "spoken like a true pld." made me laugh...

-you are the first one in the party to know if 2hr ability is needed for that fight.
-you really hate those mobs (antican..) that have ability to reset hate.

That's something I would love to see added to the game. Hit rank 10 and a certain level, you get your nation's guards initials tacked onto your name (I.M., T.K., etc)

And then of course, the ability to cast signet on people, that would be awesome.

Could also be that leveling thief is formost grueling and mind numbingly slow, with the only real exception being those that form a static party

you spend
1-15 solo
15-30 trying to find a group longer than every melee
30-45 trying to explain to people how sneak and trick work and generally waiting forever for a party

I have got one that breaks my own heart:

- You try leveling Shield/Parry in Yutunga agianst gobs..................while level 28-wish i wasn't but most certantly am guilty

O lord...

the scariest thing is that its all true..I provoke,flash,sheild bash, and sentinel a monster..even if I'm farming...alone O_O

And the falling in love with a rdm O_O im marrying one in the game ^^;

I have a few

-When you buy a robe to look even cooler with your sword and shield (guilty)
-When you end up voking out of habit when a mob is pulled before the secondary tank can set up for SATA (guilty)
-When even the thought of accidently throwing your happy egg makes you cringe (guilty)
-When you refuse to /panic because "real tanks never panic" (I'm a Taru... guilty)
-You feel like you have something to prove when you tank, but you don't know what (guilty, lol)

yea, PLD owns so much! I love every minute of it, cannot wait for lvl37! Only if my static would decide a date to lvl up >.>!

-When you go around wearing centurion armor, /anon on, someone needs help and you throw a CureIII on him/her for the hell of it, that "O_O" never gets old lol.

You know you've been a pld too long when... (Or playing FFXI too long for that matter)

You visit the dentist and he/she is doing deep tissue cleaning on you and you think.. "I'm a Paladin.. I have high VIT and DEF.. I'll cast Protect II and Sentinel me and everything will be fine." Oh.. don't forget "Invincible" for the needle shots! He he!

I did this today and had to post it..

-When you end up holding hate the whole fight to find out after the mob dies, that you weren't attacking the entire time.
