how good of a DD is WAR?Follow

hello i would like to know how strong of a DD are they? can they do more damage then DRG? what jobs can do more damage then us? damage is a big deal to me i dont want to keep leveling this job thinking its a great DD job then later on find out alot of other jobs do more damage then me.

There will always be someone that will do more damage than you. Doesn't matter the job, doesn't matter the game. There is no 'AUTOMATIC TOP DD JOB.'

Warrior is an exceptional top tier damage dealer, for what it's worth.

oh i know i just wanted to get an idea of how good it is i havent seen any threads were they compare it to other jobs and im trying to decide between WAR DRG AND DRK i think DRG is more fun and i like the idea of having a pet but im not sure how strong they are and i feel maybe war brings more to the table as for DRK i dont know much about this job

WAR is the original DD job and no matter what SE does it'll always be strong. Back when DW got such a large bonus, WAR/NIN with multihit weapons. After 2H update and RR update, WAR/SAM using 2H GAXE. Inside abyssea with the crit atma's and big numbers, WAR with crit weapon skills. Outside Abyssea back when we did sky NM's and such, store TP to 300 and do Steel Cyclone. WAR tank in a fashion, deal amazing damage and has tons of JA / JT. It's also an extremely versatile DD job that can equip nearly every class of weapon, just in-case a situation arises that requires it.

Other jobs tend to specialize, DRG / DRK / SAM / RNG / MNK / NIN each specialize in one weapon / style, where as WAR can use multiple styles. Although the current favorite is "smash your face into the monsters fist until it dies". In short, if you decide to play WAR, you'll have a ton of fun smashing things.

You should probably look at each Damage Dealers abilities and see which ones interest you. Honestly being the "Top DD of the parse" really doesn't mean much nowdays.

To put it in perspective, besides procs DDs are pretty much interchangable. All things being even, they're only gonna be a few percentage points away from each other anyway. It's not like one replacing one relatively geared DD for another is gonna change a 20 min fight into a 10 min fight (not counting 2hour abilities, which is one reason I recommend looking at abilities)

While my warrior comrades-in-arms summed up the point about highest DD quite well, WAR is and pretty much always has been one of the highest ranking damage jobs in the game and I strongly doubt that will change any time soon. Combine this with the fact that they can skill so many blue and rec procs and you have essentially the single most in-demand physical DD smasher in the game. DRG and DRK are good jobs, don't get me wrong, but they aren't nearly as sought after.

There was that year or so where it was regarded as just a subjob, but even then the few people that knew better were hard at work proving that wrong on a daily basis.

and Those are just physical DD. BLM has some amzing dmg output and Blu can put up alot of big numbers in a short span. All depends on prefernce and play style.

If you want a very reliable top tier DD, WAR and SAM are your options. WAR had a stronger start than SAM, but it has always and I'd bet will always be in the top 3. At that point you'll lose or win the parse race by mob weakness and your personal skill. (Do you or the SAM hit the WS script before the other one does .3%seconds later?)

WAR is a very solid choice, and fun as hell to boot. Retaliation is one of the best JAs in the game, IMO.

Not only was there a time that WAR main wasn't wanted it was shunned in a corner leveling in the days before the ps2 even came online it was only a sub job and using /nin was looked at like you was crazy lmao. The good old days makes me laugh now but it was painful leveling war back in my day walking up hills to parties both ways. The days before the TP nerf and drgs and rngs was gods...

Just because people didn't know WAR was awesome back in the day, does not mean it wasn't a brilliant choice.

I believe lolgaxe said it best when he stated that WAR received next to no changes in the first five years of the game. Yet still, it went from "loljustasubjob" to "omg somebody nerf it", with no interference from SE.

I loved the job but it was hell getting accepted back in the day I basically had to grind up to 75 spent many days seeking and trying to make my own parties got fishing to almost 60 back then lol. The job took off like a rocket once people started to realize the damage output of war main. SE really didn't help much with the retarded stats on our AF and relic lol oh and the Brady guide the horror the horror. I still have mine for a laugh....

WAR was subtly nerfed over time since the game started. It's been forever and a day but I do remember they lowered the effectiveness of Break WSs, /THF got the shaft and our secondary weapon level caps were lowered. But as soon as deco burns rolled around and RNGs got tossed aside... NERF WAR/NIN!!

Proving what I've suspected all along that there haven't been many big imbalance issues (except for 2 or 3 in 8 years) and that most of these "nerf job XYZ because my widdle favorite job ABC can't get an invite" are because of playerbase preference rather than actual facts on disparity.

Either way, WAR is a solid job, and would be one of my two mains if I ever returned to XI. The other being MNK because it's f*cking fun.
