war's ability to tank NM's :: World of Warcraft

ok so i just recently lvl'ed warrior and keep retalition up full time while skilling other weapons.
this got me think could you use war/mnk and GH,retalition,counterstance and tank like a mnk would.
reason for this is warrior has more options for PDT gear and could be the only person attacking the mob.
personaly i do have mnk at 90 w/ 77% counter rate and this would only net a warrior 70% w/ me guessing retalition giving 10% counterrate.
i havent tried this yet wondering if anyone has tried? please give any feed back you have.

I don't think Counter and Retaliation will really work like that(+Counter should have nothing to do with retaliating, two different things). Pretty sure Counterstance won't stack with retaliation at all (I've not tried it myself, just read that somewhere).

Not doubting that War can tank some things, but this doesn't seem to be the way to do it.

WAR tanking depend on 2 things for me (based on my experiences).

1. Deal I enough damage to keep hate on me ?
2. Do I have a WHM cure bombing me ?
...

1. Depends on who's around me. WAR is my 3rd job so it's far from being a "top" DD gear wise (like I'll never get Ukon and not on 1st line to get a Widowmaker).
2. Depend if there's one WHM and how he/she play / gear / atma...

Oh but so far, to assure 1. /SAM > /NIN.
Seigan + Retaliation increase my DMG and so my hate compare to the damage mitigation of constant casting utsusemi (and so not dealing damage).

MNK15 here so can't try counterstance but would like to. Seems nice on paper.

In abyssea, anything that can deal good damage can tank as long as your WHM has good atmas and doesn't play like a tard. Outside of abby, everything is so easymoded since we gained 15 levels on everything I suspect a WAR could tank anything out there with a lil bit of support.

i duo with a war on my whm. we havent tried hero's abyssea nm's yet but the other zones we have no problems. we used to use his nin but since his ukon its always war typically because its really good damage. hate has never been a problem except for hate reset mobs(which will always cause problems), his dd is great, his tanking is good but i think thats more of a reflection of me rather than him. he can proc red and sometimes blue. but like this guy said

its probably not as clear cut as that, but pretty much right.
