Abyssea and WarFollow

Soo... been to Abyssea - La Theine Cruor Farming last night. Figured i could bring my experience here to share.

War/Sam at level 76. Tp set is at 407 Acc with Hasso, 90ish STR with Hasso, 430ish attack. Also, ate a pizza ( 2 in the course of the stay ). So add that to what i have above.

All in all, its a decent set. Not absurdly powerful, but quite decent. Also, important, i had no BRD or COR in my pt.

We went around for 1 hour in a full alliance. Excluding the couple thiefs that could not hit for more than 15 damage per hit (of of them had his highest Dancing Edge at 98 damage, as he commented after the party), it was a quite good run. But they were both freaking idiots playing THF, had one other that was wiping the floor with them. First Bathyal Gigas around the lake, then we took the Gigas NM spawned with one of the shield drops, then Geiers then Great Wasps.

I did start a personal parse, but parser locked up after 2nd Gigas. So most commentaries are from feeling, take them however you will.

In Parts:

Bathyal Gigas:

Ugh. They conned IT BEFORE they started being powered up. Hit for 200~300 each normal hit, but no special attack really called for attention, besides the fact that they are AoE and i was /SAM. I was consistently trading hate with a 80 DRK, even though i felt my performance was abysmal.

ACC: I wasnt hitting cap with aggressor down. With aggressor up, i was either at cap or very close to it. It got a bit worse at the end, but i do not believe i dropped from cap with agressor up.

Atk: Ouch ouch ouch. 96 D Weapon, 460~550 atk ( zerk down/up ) and it sucked. I do not know if they are just high level, if they have some kind of physical damage resist ( i doubt: see WS ), or just defense. Zerk down, normal hits were hardly ever getting to 100s. Up, ~120 was the norm. Best crit was 210ish. In other words: 500~600 atk is way too low. This got fairly worse at the end.

WS: Lack of atk hurt severely. I was doing ~550s Raging Rushes, ~600s King's Justices. Strangely enough, Steel Cyclone was hitting for 500ish, and i have a fairly sucky SC set. It was by far the most consistent one with zerk down, or when Warrior's Charge was up. I Believe this was caused by a severe lack of attack, but the lack of accuraccy when aggressor was down did not help the multi-hits.



Geiers:

They started easier than Gigas. A few kills in they started doing Helldives, i think, for 600 damage. Through shadows and Third Eye. Got myself killed in a double barrage.

Their difficulty raised *really* quickly. But they did died faster than gigas. Didnt really notice much change in the damage i was doing in them from what i was doing on the Gigas - they just have less HP. And less evasion.


Angler Tiger

We killed 2 of those. They gave us ~50 cruor instead of the ~20 we were getting on Gigas and Birds. But after 7 paralyzes, we figured it would be faster to kill something that didnt mess up with the pt so much.

Great Wasp

... And we went with the stupid decision of killing these. Do you have any idea of how many Pollens a bee an put up with 14 people meleeing them?

They started really easy. Acc was capped the whole time. They just started taking longer and longer and longer to die. Also, they started giving 9 cruor. then suddenly jumped to 20ish and kept there. By the end, Final Sting was a blessing. Although it did ~600 damage, it killed the freaking bee. Then, suddenly, we killed a normal bee that had nothing different and got 500 cruor each. But bees are *very* annoying.

Then we hit a ephemeral clionid for 140 cruor. And people started getting tossed out.


All in all -> ~1700 cruor in 1 hour run. quite a few gigas pop items. 1 +5 DEX, +9 atk cape from the gigas NM. ~5000 xp.

Abyssea at 75ish is probably akin to Dynamis at 60. Once people get beyond that, and their gear catches up to the level cap, people will be more consistent with their results. Also, from my understanding, either all the mobs, or the NMs, have weaknesses that you can exploit making the fights faster. Obviously I'm not sure, since I'm damn tired from being forced to micromanaged two other people's time for twelve hours. Good info, none-the-less.

Somewhat off topic:

I made an abyssea-konschtat full alliance.

Party 1: mages + rdm + smn with diabolos favor
Party 2: DD + one healer
Party 3: Tank + rdm + brd + DDs

Took the east path up to where the Craig is, stopped near there and fought trees.

The strategy was to have the pld run up and flash/voke the mob. The paladin was always the puller. Mobs died fast and by having the pld keep the party moving a bit you could get the chests open (when they were worth opoening) without AoE interference.

We had some good luck, including a chest that gave everyone 800 Cruor and a rare mob that gave everyone 500-550 Cruor (I don't remember the exact amount) finishing at roughly 3.3k in one hour.

One annoyance is the chests that drop items. I had to do those and then have everyone /random after the run. I hope SE changes it so that item chests go to alliance party pool, the current method of giving to the opener just detracts from the fun.

Warrior works fine in abyssea. But then, warrior works fine everywhere. I enjoy having leveled what I consider to be the least gimicky melee DD in the game.

We did not have a thief with us, because this was my first time making a run like this and it didn't occur to me that it might improve Cruor drop. I'm hoping that it will, can anyone confirm or deny this?

I doubt it affects cruor.

Didn't see any more cruor, but I think the thief's TH3 did increase the drop rate of regular items. I'll be bringing a thief from now on.

Edit: forgot to mention, have DD's come DD/nin to deal with that AoE spell the trees do.

Second Edit: today I put in a suggestion with SE asking them to make chest drops go to alliance loot. We had some drama today leading to a word I won't be typing here and ending in a GM call over said word.

How can i put a suggestion to SE to give them the exact same suggestion?
