The Great Axe Warrior Food Guide: A work permanently in progress.
Hey all. This is the food guide I'm trying to put together for the GA warriors. I admit I'm rusty from being out of the game for a few months. But seeing as how I'm laid up with a pretty good knee injury, I figured I'd give it a go. This guide is more editing and arranging than writing. Thanks to allakhazam, ffxiclopedia, ffxiah, The Mead Hall, and any who help the guide by pointing out any mistakes I have made. Please, if you find a mistake or have a better idea, post it here and I will revise the guide.
As always, thanks in advance.

IN THE BEGINNING: Levels 1-50.
First off, do not use sushi at these levels. Sushi works based on percent increases. You will actually get much better total results at a far lower price with Rice Dumplings. That said, they are pricey if this is your first job. Fortunately, there is another excellent option.
OPTION 1: Rice Dumplings
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
* HP +17
* Strength +3
* Vitality +2
* Agility +1
* HP Recovered While Healing +2
* MP Recovered While Healing +2
* Accuracy +5
* Attack +20% (Cap: 45@225 Base Attack)
* Ranged Attack +30% (Cap: 45@150 Base Ranged Attack)
* Resist Paralyze
Without a doubt the best melee food under level 50. That said, they are expensive for someone on their first time through the game and not always available on the auction house. Strictly optional, I'd advise you to consider saving the gil for your level 40 accuracy rings and just go with Option 2 below.
*****
OPTION 2: Meat Mithkabobs
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
* Strength +5
* Agility +1
* Intelligence -2
* Attack +22% (Cap: 60@272 Base Attack)
Let me just count off the awesome that I personally find in Meat Mithkabobs
1) They are always at least decent to use.
2) If someone in the party screwed up and forgot food (it happens) I can give one for a few hundred gil.
3) If I wind up level synced it's not a waste to use the food.
4) In dynamis you die a lot, this food is cheep.
5) If you have a new player in your LS you can give a few of these to get them going.
6) Stackable, so I could carry 12 of these for just one inventory slot.
7) Super cheap, just sell what you farm up if you aren't using it to craft.

BRINGING THE PAIN: Level 50-74. Carry Both of These.
OPTION 1: Meat Mithkabobs
I really can't stress this enough, keep a stack on you. Or just ignore me and choose between giving expensive food to someone or watching your party/mission run/NM/whatever fail.
*****
OPTION 2: Crab Sushi
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
* Vitality +1
* Defense +10
* Accuracy +13%
About now you will be noticing that you just barely managed to keep your GA skill capped as you rose through the levels. Life is better with Level Sync, but it comes at a price. If you have a gimped Great Axe skill, this food is an excellent way to get your skill back up. If you are also trying to catch your axe skill up you can combine this food a pair of Viking Axes to get that axe skill up where it should be. I come from the school that says a warrior should cap both GA and axe. If the party is level synced above your level (it happens, to give a healer/tank an ability or skill) this is good food to let you land the hits. Some people like to use Squid Sushi +1 here for a better gil/hour, but I stand by the belief that when the tank or healer screw up it's the job that has the most even damage over time that is going to die, especially when using AF feet with an enmity bonus. And that's you.

END GAME FOOD: Level 75.
OPTION 1: Meat Mithkabobs
I still carried some of these. It's great when the LS needs to kill something to get an AF piece, when a friend needs help farming something or getting a mission done, when the next player over forgot their food and the party just got going (Yeah, I've done it too. It's embarrassing, but better to tell your party than to try to hide it.) I always carried a full stack of 12 on me and a partial stack in the mog house I used to recharge the backpack up to 12 again when I got home.

OPTION 2: Crab Sushi
Ok, before I get attacked here, I just want to say that leveling up random weapons when you're bored is a time honored warrior tradition. Of course, getting bored and just sort of stopping after half an hour is also part of the tradition. I'm way too cheap to pay for the expensive food for this. As with the Meat Mithkabobs, I advocate keeping a partial stack at home and a full stack in the backpack.
PLEASE NOTE: Sushi is not necessarily the best option even when skilling up a weapon. If you are in a party put together for the purpose of skilling up weapons or you have agreed to Level Sync from level 75 down to level 24 to help someone in your linkshell get a level then you are in a category that is characterized by how little it matters if you have an attack bonus from your food. If you are in any other situation (for example, if your linkshell is letting you cap a weapon just because you feel like it while farming in sky) then I strongly recommend skipping directly down to Marinara Pizza or Marinara Pizza +1, shown below.
*****
OPTION 3: Coeurl Sub
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
* MP +10
* Strength +5
* Agility +1
* Intelligence -2
* HP Recovered While Healing +1
* Resist Stun
* Resist Sleep
* Attack +20% (Cap: 75@375 Base Attack)
* Ranged Attack +20% (Cap: 75@375 Base Ranged Attack)
What's important here is that it gives 15 more attack than Meat Mithkabobs. It also costs about six times as much per stack. I'd say try them both out and see what works for you.
*****
OPTION 4: Marinara Pizza or Marinara Pizza +1
Marinara Pizza
Food Effects: (3 hours, All Races)
* HP +20
* Attack +20% (Cap: 50 @ 250 Base Attack)
* Accuracy +10% (Cap: 40+) Verification Needed
* Undead Killer
Marinara Pizza +1
Food Effects: (4 hours, All Races)
* HP +25
* Attack +21% (Cap: 55)
* Accuracy +11% (Cap: 44+) Verification Needed
* Undead Killer
It's everything sushi could never be: it has Accuracy and Attack. This is definitely a valid choice for when you just can't seem to get the hits to land or are skilling up. The +1 version doesn't cost much more and gives you even more attack and accuracy.
*****
OPTION 5: Yellow Curry
Food Effects: (3 hours, All Races)
* HP +20
* Strength +5
* Agility +2
* Intelligence -4
* HP Recovered While Healing +2
* MP Recovered While Healing +1
* Attack +20% (Cap: 75 @ 375 Base Attack)
* Ranged Attack +20% (Cap: 75@375 Base Ranged Attack)
* Resist Sleep
* Resist Stun
For the purposes of a warrior, this is a three-hour Coeurl Sub. On my server this costs 7k and a stack of Coeurl Subs costs 14k. So it's the same gil/time to use these foods. Whenever that situation occurs, the 30-minutes food is always the winner as it is more shareable, can be changed out if the situation calls for it, and you don't get burned if the party doesn't run exactly three hours. If you get a good price ratio compared to Coeurl Subs on your server this is a valid choice, but only if you are going on a long fight.
*****
OPTION 6: Bison Steak
Food Effects: (3 hours, All Races)
* Strength +6
* Agility +1
* Intelligence -3
* Lizard Killer
* Attack +18% (Cap: 90@500 Base Attack)
* Ranged Attack +18% (Cap: 90@500 Base Ranged Attack.)
Now we're talking. A small strength improvement, but the real thing here is the attack improvement. Running around 5k on my server this is far less expensive, and far better, than Coeurl Subs. Keep in mind this is three-hour food here. If you're going to die (Deathnamis), don't use it.
*****
OPTION 7: Hedgehog Pie
Food Effects: (3 hours, All Races)
* HP +55
* Strength +6
* Vitality +2
* Intelligence -3
* Mind +3
* MP Recovered While Healing +2
* Accuracy +5
* Attack +18% (Cap: 90@500 Base Attack)
* Ranged Attack +18% (Cap: 90@500 Base Ranged Attack)
Someone jammed Rice Dumplings into a Bison Steak and doubled the price. You pay 10k for this on my server and you get Bison Steak with Accuracy +5. This is great food if you're going to use the entire three hours of food effect.
*****
OPTION 8: Red Curry
Food Effects: (3 hours, All Races)
* HP +25
* Strength +7
* Agility +1
* Intelligence -2
* HP Recovered While Healing +2
* MP Recovered While Healing +1
* Attack +23% (Cap: 150@652 Base Attack)
* Ranged Attack +23% (Cap: 150@652 Base Ranged Attack)
* Demon Killer
* Resist Sleep
What can I say? This is what pimps eat when they aren't counting that night's cash flow. At 50k a pop this is food for when you have either made it rich on synthing/farming or have some unbelievably hard fight coming up. If I could I would eat this for everything.
*****
OPTION 9: Carbonara or Carbonara +1
Carbonara
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
* HP +14% (Cap: 175 @ 1249 Base HP)
* MP +10
* Strength +4
* Vitality +2
* Intelligence -3
* Attack +18% (Cap: 65 @ 361 Base Attack)
* Store TP +6
Carbonara +1
Food Effects: (60 minutes, All Races)
* HP +14% (Cap: 180 @ 1285 Base HP)
* MP +15
* Strength +4
* Vitality +2
* Intelligence -3
* Attack +18% (Cap: 70 @ 388 Base Attack)
* Store TP +6
This is a food you would use to get to a 7-hit or 6-hit build. Determining how much Store TP you need is beyond the scope of this guide. The point here is that if you need food to do it, there are options available and they include Attack. The only other Store TP options do not feature Attack as a bonus or cost 40k per plate (this would be Arrabbiata). I strongly recommend you be absolutely certain that you understand the mechanics of Store TP before you invest in gear and food. If you don't cross certain thresholds with Store TP you get absolutely nothing for it, waste gil, and miss out on the chance to raise other stats.
*****
OPTION 10: Ambrosia
Food Effects: (4 hours, All Races)
* HP +7
* MP +7
* Store TP +7
* Strength +7
* Dexterity +7
* Agility +7
* Vitality +7
* Intelligence +7
* Mind +7
* Charisma +7
* HP Recovered While Healing +7
* MP Recovered While Healing +7
* Attack +7
* Accuracy +7
* Defense +7
* Evasion +7
This is what you get when you combine a high level drop with a cooking 100 synth. Just put it in to show it.
*****
OPTION 11: Sole Sushi
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
* HP +20
* Strength +5
* Dexterity +6
* Accuracy +15%
* Ranged Accuracy +15%
* Resist Sleep
It's good accuracy food, but it has no attack. On anything I can't hit I get better accuracy from Bream Sushi (or at least an accuracy buff from Marinara Pizza or Hedgehog Pie), and on anything I can hit I want the attack bonuses. A lot of people swear by this but I personally would use another option. I'm not going to tell you what not to use. I am going to suggest you look at the above options and I will point out these four facts.
1) Warrior has an A+ skill in Great Axe.
2) Warrior has Aggressor which increases accuracy by a flat 25 on top of the A+ skill, for 60% of the time.
3) Warrior has the ability to equip the Hauberk set, fowling earring, snipers/woodsman's, and life belt (all of which can be purchased from the auction house) for instant accuracy improvements.
4) You can merit Great Axe skill to 8/8 making your warrior THE master of landing blows.
If you consider these four facts and consider the food options above, I think you will see why the many of the most experienced warriors do not use Sole Sushi when equipped with a Great Axe.

Well, this is the end. I hope it helps you and if you have an idea that will help this guide I hope you'll let me know. Thanks for reading and good luck!
