So a guy in my linkshell who is very well geared and always does incredible damage on weaponskills (Steel Cyclone, King's Justice) has recently been sporting a Martial Bhuj full time. Previously he has been using Byakko's Axe as long as I can remember.
I've been using Byakko's since I got it some months ago. We were gathering for Einherjar last night and another guy in the shell who plays SAM and DRG and WAR (with incredible gear himself) asked me if I had one.
I told him that as far as I knew, it wasn't one of the top G Axes to have (Relic > Perdu > Byakko's?), and I asked what would be so special about it. He said that it was basically like a Hagun for Warriors based on the weaponskill properties.
What are your thoughts regarding a full time Martial Bhuj?

Im pretty sure it's been shown many times that the DoT of the other GA's will be better than the increased WS damage from martial. The only time I could see using this is if you are only trying to make skillchains with Steel Cyclone or if you are contributing with hate control and using SATA Steel Cyclone. Now I guess I am saying this without much application as I dont own a martial bhuj and the events I do (einherjar, nyzul, salvage) I usually go either /nin or /sam and can provide good DoT. But if I did own a martial, I would only use it if I were going /thf to do better with SATA SC.

Hagun works for Samurai because a much more significant portion of their DoT comes from weapon skills than for Warrior. Most of our DoT comes from just slappin' mobs around.

Sh*t is situational. /thf is the best use for M. Bhuj that I personally know of.

You get better damage out of a perdu voulge, and I this is the 3rd thread I can think of where this came up and I responded, but I don't know where they are right now. Basically, best case scenario, m.bhuj WS damage gets very close to perdu voulge damage, and then perdu DoT destroys it. Worst case scenario, perdu WSs harder from sheer base damage (and attack/acc).

Martial is an upgrade from Byakko's, but not the ultimate choice to stay with.

This. It's just more that the damage from our WS don't come as much from the SC mods as Sam. Also, our split ispretty even. As bsphil said for /nin, and for /Sam its probably closer to 50/50.

I have one and alternate between a Byakko's and it, depending on the situation. Both are great. However, unless you're really built around it, the standard WAR builds for RR and Byakko/Perdu will perform much better.

I don't have the parse anymore but it did beat out my Byakko's some, just don't recall how much. It was a party with a MNK where he and I were almost even in TP gain for the entire duration. So we'd be performing Asuran -> Steel Cyclone rapidly from mob to mob with solid unresisted rates.
It's a tough situation to find though because you'd not only have to have a MNK (or someone to open for you) but someone that has roughly equivalent or much faster TP gain.
