I would like to help. Every time I offer advice to a WAR with GS, I seem to get the same response. STFU n00b! GS is awesome! I just shake my head and /cry. Why are there so many WAR's out there that just will not listen?

I'm not rich and won't be playing again till mid-February, but if anyone on Carby can't reach one of the mentors, I will do my best to put the appropriate Great Axe in their hands when I get back.

I have my Neckchopper and Sturmwind and for anyone who requires a demonstration, I will provide that free of charge as well. There really is no contest. I wish there was a way for people to see the Weapon ratings in-game, it would avoid so much confusion. I guess that's why the best players stay the best.

For Herro: You simply must pick up the Moth Axe at that level. Delay, dmg, and Dex+1 over the Greataxe or GA+1. It might cost a little bit, but this axe will last you a long time. Easily long enough to farm up the gil for a Neckchopper.

One thing ive tend to notice about most players. Advice = Insult.

I had this same discussion with a linkshell bard today who was telling me how he was in a party with a bard as his blm, at level 55. He said he had great equipment, but he had no idea how to use it properly. The bard was doing ballad with a +1 string instrument and hit everyone, and tried to give buffs to the melee with a regular wind instrument... not knowing it wouldn't overwrite the ballad cause its +1 instrument and the other is not (i had no idea it worked this way myself, i never played bard, **** for all i know my friend could be wrong. I know melee and skillschains, support (no thanks))

So my friend tells him he should try to get ballad on the mages only. The guy freaks out and starts getting bad but eventually takes the advice. My friend then tells him how +1 weapons won't be overrided by normal... he FLIPS, leaves the party.

Its getting to the point where its just too much of a hassle to even try and help people anymore. They take it as an insult instead of just advice from somone who wants them to do better then they are.

You need to take me off the list for Quetzalcoatl. I quit FFXI, so it won't do much good to keep my name up there.

Just want to post that I gave away and successfully convderted someone to a g axe tonight. I saw a lvl 5 newbie walking around with a polearm, and I politely explained to him the benefits of using an axe on a warrior, and gave him a butterfly axe, then using madrigal I helped him speed level his g axe to cap so he could compare it to his polearm :p

After he got it capped, he was pretty impressed with the g axe over his polearm, so I made at least one person change for the better :p

I am also using the Bee Spatha +1. The damage on the sword is better than any GA at level 12 . I believe it is 14 damage, and no GA will for the same damage in the amount of time. Some GA's have same damage but a longer delay (enough to make a difference).

I basically am switching back and forth from GA to Sword, whichever does the best damage in the shortest amount of time.

Is it worth it to forfeit a small delay discrepancy to keep GA level maxxed?

Where Great axe does the most damage depends on what you're fighting. if you're fighting High defense enemys, like crabs in valkurm, the axe will crush the sword. On low defense enemys, low delay weapons will do better. Why not use an axe instead of a sword though? Higher damage, almost the exact same delay, higher skill, and better weapon skills. You can switch between axe and g axe to keep both capped and also use whichever has better results.

An example is when I started xping in Kuftal Tunnel at lvl 51 with my war friend. He has nin and thief subs both fully leveled, and axe and g axe both capped. When we first went in, the crabs were giving more than 200 each, even before the xp chain and had very high defense, so he used a thief sub and relied on his g axe, and was doing 70-90 damage regular hits and 400+ damage sturmwinds, as compared to 20-30 damage axe hits. At 53 though (the next night) their defense was lower now due to us being a higher level, so he went back as a war/nin, and was hitting 40-50 damage axe swings while still only doing 70-90 damage gaxe hits.

You just have to pick the situation accordingly. This is why warrior is so versatile. We're good with both a high damage high delay item, and a low delay, lower damage item, while other dd (samurai, dark knight or dragoon) have to rely on the slow weapons since thats all they're good at.

the best axe you can use at 16 is the moth axe herro. contact dimo on bahamut if you cant afford an axe, and when he asks why you want him to buy you a moth axe, tell him if he does what you want, alex will buy him dinner. he cant resist the offer of free food.

unless of course benadar or someone already got you, then dont worry about :)P

Add Gelwain to the list. I've taken my war/thf up to 51 with a great axe, and absolutely love that large, hulking lump of serrated steel. Sneak attack + Beserk + Aggressor + Warcry + Sturmwind = Yes, please.

To spread the joy of the Great Axe to aspiring warriors as a noble quest, indeed, and one this Dragoon is willing to take up.

I'm on the Hades server and will happily whip out my job and my gear, and give demonstrations to show the power that is the Great Axe.

To the person who sent a /tell to Vaala on Fairy last night.

I didn't mean to offend you at all, I really didn't, and am happy to participate in this GreatAxe Challenge. But this offer does cap out when you reach level 20, otherwise things start getting incredibly expensive for us.

As far as my comment about getting a bit personal in your questions and you saying this is just a game? Yeah...it is just a game, but at the same time, I do like to keep my anonymity a bit and certain things such as how much gil I have really doesn't matter. I don't have a problem telling that to my friends, but when you start asking if I'm a girl and how old I am and how much gil I have right away, I take that as a bit intrusive. Sorry if that offended you, but just as it's a bit rude to ask a stranger how much they make in real life, asking in game is something similar.

Anyway, I'm sorry you were above the level for this event, or I would happily support you and get you a GreatAxe. Anyone other new Warriors who are truly interested in trying a GreatAxe to be the best Warrior they want to be, please feel free to send me a /tell. I'm more than happy to help out :)

My personal opinion is that you should take this opportunity to work on BOTH Axe/Shield and GreatAxe. Having them both as close to cap as you can when you start to party makes it so much easier to keep them capped.

I don't think it really makes a difference which one you end up using either. Both have plusses and negatives. Being a Mithra...I'd probably lean towards the GreatAxe for the extra "oomph" you'll get, but seriously I don't think it matters.

I hate to say this but I'm out as far as providing weapons goes.

I must of handed out more than 20 and all was well.

Then someone who I sent an axe too sends me this mssg:

"Ha! sucker! thanks for the free gill j00 nub!"

I don't have time to meet everyone in person.

And frankly I don't care who plays a WAR and what they use anymore.

In fact go be a PLD.

I like being different and the less of you that play WAR the better.

hey, you did the best you can wookie.

all i can offer is make that persons rep worth ****. point as many friends and acquaintances to this thread as you can and state how that person gipped you, then watch him suffer in obscurity as half the NA population or more shuns him.

it worked for me on this one particular bard who refused to give me a garrison item that was, by right, mine, based on the rules that we had set out before hand. i hopped on every LS i had and shat on his name, and even tho he was a bard main, he leveled so painfully slow that he eventually quit because he just couldnt get any parties.

Sadly I don't remember his name. This was a while back and it actualy put me off of playing for a while (and posting for that matter) So in time I forgot. [DRK(something)] I think. (but don't harass every Drksomthing) My guess is that it was someone's mule.

BTW anyone else on Asura get punked like this?

never the less, I have no intention of handing out a free axe anytime soon. Maybe if I see a low level WAR who has some odd equipment and after speaking with said player I find that they have true intent to play WAR all the way... I'd prolly equip them head to toe.

But I'm done with the whole "can I have an axe?" : "sure" deal.

Part of what makes WAR so great to me is that there are so few of us.

If there was a whole ton of us... I'd be a monk.

I have great respect for those who are still willing to give out an axe to any one who asks, and I warn those who aim to take advantage of thier charity that I will make the game unplayable for you... right up until they ban me.

hope this made u feel a lil better : )

personaley, after the lvl 1 Gaxe i dont really see a reason
2 rely on you guys for axes any more, personaley i think peeps should lower the cost for the lvl 1 Gaxe... that way more peeps would purchase them on there own. im not playin right nowgrounded...school sucks : (... any way i already got my plan
for a mule 2 farm fire crystals for a nice profit. while my main war will be in bastock (hume or galka i need 2 decide >_<)

any way just a thought for new players 2 maintain a steady income.

I cannot afford to hand out greataxes, but what I have been doing is setting up a load(7) butterfly axes on my mules in sandy, windy, and bastok. at 700 per(roughly what I pay +fAH fee) and then spam the history so they will know they are 700... problem is asshat crafters buying them all up so I cannot keep up with demand.

I hand out about 3 or 4 a week still, and this week I even managed to convince some poor sould with a Scythe to switch when I got bored camping the VE :P. I couldn't cre less if these people are trying to rip me off, they wouldn't be the first, and certainly not the last. All i know is, Remora's WAR's almost exclusively use Great Axe/Axe, and I am a happy camper ^^. I do, however, instst on talking to all of these new WAR's for at least a few minutes, to make sure that at the very least they understand the benefits of using certain weapons in certain situations, and why it is good to have more than just Great Axe capped. My goal is more to impart knowledge, as I find that to be a stronger weapon than a Great Axe... though not by much :P.

Ever since I saw a 41 WAR with a polearm(back in the days as Pally main but after Penta nerf)... and no other weapon, esp. Great Axe... in a party with another DRG (ie no SC..) ... I'm scarred man. I must combat this menace.
Tossed one out due to a request for help on my server forum, figured I'd change my status to Official GAC Rep, Alexander.

I had thought that this thread had died, but its good to see its still kicking :p

On titan, I haven't had to give away any axes for awhile. Everytime I've seen a war below 20 they've had a g axe already. Of course, I don't go hang out in the dunes very much, so for all I know g axes are still a rare commodity there :p
