As something just to play around with, it's not too bad of an option solo wise, but depending on how you're soloing, it's probably not going to offer you as much as /Whm, /Rdm, or /Nin will. If you're just doing Grounds of Valor pages and exping off Easy Prey mobs, then you can probably swap to dual wielding clubs and melee alongside your nuking, using Curing Waltz to keep you alive rather than using MP that could be going towards spells (not to mention the fact that Curing Waltz can't be interrupted by getting hit).
If you're soloing using the older method of killing Beastmaster beastmen pets, which is what I did back prior to Grounds of Valor being implemented, then you're going to want Blink or Utsusemi to mitigate damage being dealt towards you. Even though they have very little HP in comparison to a normal monster of the same level, a Beastmaster pet is still going to be able to do a good amount of damage to you physically, far more than what Curing Waltz alone would be able to recover. In fighting them, your best bet would be to focus on taking them out as quickly as possible rather than meleeing them down.
