So it's been about a year since I've played, and the game has changed pretty drastically. I've always been the type of person to take the road less traveled, so I'm not too interested in getting 90 right away and farming for +2 gear RIGHT NOW. Though, admittedly, it is pretty smexy. Collecting gear and putting together optimum sets with what I had to work with was always a joy of mine, and I must admit that it seems the fact Empy. Armor nearly eliminates all need to gear swap has left me feeling a little disappointed. However, I also realize that is seeming not to matter because I'm not going out of my way to get 90 ASAP anyway.
Out of anything I could possibly own, I'm curious to know if Ebon/Ebur/Furia has lost ALL of it's point. I went through Hell to get a Ebur Coat before I quit, and was in a mad dash to level Synergy and camp NMs as to make it a beastly Ice attributed, Beast-family Evolithed piece to help push myself to 1shotting Gigas's Tigers in Xarcabard_S for the endless merits that be. It was right around then that the level cap rise was announced and my dreams of having a perpetual 1-shot pet merit machine were crushed. Since then, I don't know what to do with the piece besides wear it for looks... (In which I find myself quite stylish!)
You tell me, though? Did I end up wasting the couple million I threw at it back then, or can it be Salvaged for some purpose worthwhile? I also have SCH to equip it, but again, I don't know if there's a point. Obviously Emp +2 will crush it, but until I get there, I don't care about Empy...

Firstly, getting from 75 to 90 is a snap, and can be done in a single weekend of medium-core gaming. If your less traveled road includes replacing sleep and fresh air with consecutive video game hours, you could do it in a night. Catching up skills will take a while, but the level difference coefficient makes more difference than your magic skill does anyway. For that matter, merits are aplenty to make up for such insufficient skills.
Secondly, you are correct that Empy +2 blows most things out of the water. Unfortunately, so does Empy +1, which is readily available. I don't actually know what a tooled out Ebur Coat set ends up like, but Ice is still the main spell because of the Atma of the Beyond.

I see. That sounds about on par with what I've heard thus far, yes. I'm a bit intimidated to hit up Abyssea quite yet, but I imagine when I do go, it'll be nice.
Still... Wanting to find something to do with this coat. :/ Any ideas out there would be nice, even if it is a marginally good idea.

If you have the MAB +7 that is listed here then I would continue to wear this piece until you can replace it with your Goetia Coat +1/+2. Igqira/Genie and Teal are the typical stand by nuking bodies until you can get your empy armor +1 because of the MAB. The MAB on your Ebur is only beat out by the +1 version of goetia coat. Also ~ any ice affinity on it will still blow everything else out of the water in the mean time.

Aye. That's the piece. Thank you for that, that makes me feel a lot better about things. Good to know I can still get some use out of it until I actually care about Abyssea.
