I just got my sch up to /sch level and haven't yet tested it out on my blm yet. I am curious if there are any benefits to blm/sch that would override blm/rdm. I have always played blm/rdm, except in some situations where is /whm for heals as well as procs. I'm having a hard time with the idea of giving up Phalanx and Gravity on /sch, but like the idea of being more mp efficient (outside of Aby of course).

Thoughts on this would be great!

A good use to /sch along with its other things are its storms. If you don't have herald's you can use sandstorm/desert boots and soon it will have hailstorm increasing your ice damage by 15% if you are using twilight / obi.

Thanks! I was actually looking forward to the hailstorm at 98/99! The desert boots are a total win!! I get sick of my BF on nin and his brother on dnc running off without me all the time! **** 12% movement speed boots!! Smiley: lol

Just out of curiosity why RDM for max damage I wasn't aware of any damage bonuses to the sub? SMN would offer more in this case because of the larger INT bonus no?

Its double your pleasure double your fun. /rdm Offers a larger mp pool to work with.

To the op

/rdm really helps for solo or if there is a designated healer. (More explained /whm). (This doesnt help till you get convert, stoneskin, blink and/or gravity)
/whm if you are duoing with a friend in abyssea. I have a friend that goes nin/dnc and I go Blm/Whm to haste him and debuff the mob and to help with cure 4s when things get crazy. This should be your first sub for a while.

/smn The refresh of /smn doesnt help that much. /smn doesnt really offer anything.
/nin if you are soloing low levels.

The safe bet is /whm at low levels for a while in a party. If there is a healer then /sch will help increase you skills that might be underpar.

Unfortunaly if you go the mage route you will want, /whm /sch /rdm and /brd to level 44, to cover all the possible situations you could be in.
