I know that when you have two weather up not to equip AF2 Pants because can reach the 35% damage cap from obi alone. Has this cap changed?

What I'm basically asking is when to reach magic cap in the following situations assuming to have Twilight Cape, Matching elemental obi and sorcerer's tonban in the following situations:

Matching day, no weather:
Matching day, one weather:
Matching day, double weather:
Non-matching day, one weather:
Non-matching day, double weather:

From wiki
Quote:
Twilight Cape
Same elemental magic as weather/day: Enhances bonus

* Increases the total weather/day bonus for matching spells and effects by an additional 5%.
o For spells that match the current day, the 5% bonus will always be applied, regardless if you receive the day bonus.
o For spells that match the current weather, the 5% bonus will only be applied when you receive the weather bonus.

Quote:
Obi
* 10% for magic of the day
* 10% for magic matching single weather
* 25% for magic matching double weather
* 35% for magic matching double weather and day

If the cap hasn't changed, then are my gears correct?
Matching day, no weather: Obi (10%) + Pants (5%) + Cape (5%) = 20%
Matching day, one weather: Obi (20%) + Pants (5%) + Cape (10%) = 35% cap
Matching day, double weather: Obi alone (35%)
Non-matching day, one weather: Obi (10%) + Cape (5%) = 15%
Non-matching day, double weather: Obi (25%) + Cape (5%) = 30%

Also, for the first case which is the most common in Abyssea, is there such way to raise damage bonus to cap? I can only think of adding SCH to the mix.
Obi (20%) + Pants (5%) + Cape (10%) = 35% cap.

I been wondering the same thing.

the purpose of this would be does one use the twlight cape if you have double weather and day since we know the relic pants suffer from a cap bonus.

you do not need obis for the day weather bonus, it just lets you to have it at a 100% rate.

you do have anther intersting point, can you get 5% for the weather and 5% for the day too if they both match? I am betting that it is still 5% still

so with a SCH around you can walk around 30% 24/7

My experience with the Twilight Cape is that equipping it adds 5% to the Day/Weather bonus. This 5% is always added even if the end result is higher than the soft cap of 35%.

I tested this on some Uleguerand Tigers a while back during ice day, double ice weather:
Blizzard III (obi alone) - 784
Blizzard III (obi + cape) - 813

The test crossed a few mobs, but I always did a check to make sure that the INT of the mob was always the same. I also baked into this particular tiger's INT and found it to be 46. I nuked in 98 INT and a total of 46 MAB (trait+ice merits). For the curious, I backed into the INT with stone 4 and thunder 4:
Stone IV - 659
Thunder IV - 941

Running the entire calculation out with V = 320, M = 1.5, dINT = 52, DWB = 1.4 (5% above cap), and MAB = 1.46 yields 813 damage.

I also tested to see if the hidden trait of this item was that it allowed just removed the soft cap outright. Testing with obi, cape, and pants yield 813 again.

For whatever reason, I don't have any numbers indicating that the soft cap isn't 40%. I'm pretty sure the soft cap is still 35%.

why are you calling it a soft cap? dont soft cap mean the point of decay bonus after that line? anyways seeing if it was caped at 35 would be seeing if relic lags added bonus in double ice and ice weather. since 784/1.35=580.74..... then 581 times 1.40=813 where 784 times 1.05=823, it defently appears added to the day/weather bonus. so one does wonder if that cap still exists if relic legs still does not give that bonus in that situation. though i wonder if its worth using the relic legs anymore if that bonus does exist with emp legs +2 being 7 mab (plus added chance to set efect). even if relic legs would be better, im sure it might not be worth using to clutter that inv space. still be nice to know though

edit: I reread your post so the cape could be just an extra bonus that ingores the cap. i am not sure. It could also mean relic pants where bugged all these years in that situation, who knows. the other evidence we have of the cap is adding SCH weather on top of double weather. i think double weather it self is caped and not the overall bonus.

That's what i'd like to know. I just don't see the sorc. pants being useful anymore after AF3+2. Kinda like the relic hat.
