After reading Pud's great thread on the ice staff trials, I figured I would do the same for the Thunder staff trial. I will keep it in the same format, and add any comments others have that they have found worked well. (it should be noted that I took the advice on wiki and am basically just relaying it here with my experiences)

Trial 790: 50 Treants in Weather (copied from Pud's)

Well documented trial, I went to Grauberg [S] and killed the treants there. See FFXIclopedia page for more locations and details.

If no syncee Caedarva Mire works at 80, weather is much rarer, but at least 2 5 minute repops. Reynark

Trial 791: 50 Spiders in Fire, Wind, Lightning, or Light Weather

The Boyahda Tree is where I struggled for this one. Weather was fairly infrequent, but got it done eventually. If anyone found a spot with consistent weather let me know and I will add it.

Trial 816: 50 Monsters of any family on Lightningday/Weather

Grauberg (S) killing chigoes/treants I found great around F-11 to J-11. Go there on Lightningday or just hang around for the occasional Lightning Weather.

Trial 817: 75 Monsters of the Beast Family

Vunkerl Inlet (S) Gigas' Tiger was great. Fairly easy to one-shot and Lightning Weather pops occasionally to speed things up. There is one around E-13 and another around D-12. Wiki says War Smilodons are good as well in this zone, though I never tried them out.

Trial 822: 150 Vermin Type Creatures - Thunder damage 50+ finishing blow

Copied from wiki: Goblin's Beetle - Sauromugue Champaign (S) J-9 {access through Garlaige Citadel (s)}
"Pull with Aspir II, sleep, Thunder IV for zero downtime. Stay on top of cliff and alternate between the two goblin's pets. Aspir II landed for 150-300 MP, Thunder IV hits for 1100-1200 and if unresisted will 1-shot the Goblin's Beetle with BLM85/RDM42. I used Burst II when the Goblin was facing me. Only the goblins aggro here, too-weak beetles can and will link by sight."

Trial 823: 200 Members of the Slime Family - Thunder damage 150+ finishing blow

I didn't try Den of Rancor mostly because I hate getting there. If someone else found it quick, let me know.
Bostaunieux Oubliette, Mousse in the Sewer Syrup area is what I did. This trial took a long, long time. Make sure you sneak up before you rest to avoid agro from the bats. Plenty of pops.

This place works, but I would recommend trying out one of the other camps on wiki to see if it is any faster Link

Trial 1682: 200 Monsters of the Beetle Family - Thunder damage 150+ finishing blow

Back to Sauromugue Champaign (S) J-9 from trial 822. This trial will seem like cake after doing the slimes.

Trial 1683: 250 Monster of the Funguar Family - Thunder damage 250+ finishing blow

This is the first trial I have ever actually had fun with! The Boyahda Tree, Death Caps in the first rooms. I would usually round them up in groups of 6-11 and aga them down. As long as you have stoneskin, phalanx, blink, and I put icespikes up for good measure, they are no problem. Even when stoneskin drops I was not interrupted once casting sleepga. I was /rdm, so having refresh and convert handy made killing them quick.

Trial 2182: 250 Monsters of the Treants Family - Thunder Damage 250+ finishing blow

I am currently on this trial and haven't found a great spot yet. Crawler's Nest (S) is convenient but there isn't very many and with long repop timers. I am going to be trying out Caedarva Mire next, but if anyone has a good spot, let me know please!

I've been doing Barren Treants in Abyssea-Altepa. Warp over to Conflux #8, get Dominion Op #14, warp over to Conflux #5, and proceed to solo the Treants there. There's a Martello right next to Conflux #5, which is helpful if the Dark/Earth elemental pops and I want to get it out of the way.

I also tried these out. Duo'd them with a blu friend. Slow, but decent xp. You can get body seals as well from this op.

Trial 2590: 15 Thunder Geodes

If you haven't collected 15 whilst killing the previous 1000+ mobs, then you can buy the few remaining that you need.

Hope this comes in handy! If you have any suggestions or if you spot any mistakes I made, let me know!

For trial 791, spiders in light-based weather, you have to be aware of the Vana'diel seasons. Thunder weather is infrequent in Boyhada during the winter months. There are similar problems with wind weather in Kuftal if you choose to do the Recluse spiders, though I'm not sure about how wind weather spawns there.

For trial 823, the 8 slimes in Garlaige Citadel_S work well. I did a slower path - 2 Slimes in Caedarva Mire near the NM Karakul spawn. Killed them one at a time, rested between each so there wasn't much time spent waiting around. Only problem was the water elemental that spawned there, mostly a Vana'diel winter phenomenon.

I did Brasscaps in Grauberg for Trial 1683. They are especially easy if you catch groups of melee killing them during wind weather for evasion weapon trials. The melee were fine about letting me get a kill shot, and it was no problem keeping up MP when I was just doing Bliz 2 or 3 to kill.

The treants for trial 2182 in CN_S were easy enough done one at a time also, and the first one is up by the time you finish the last. Just have to avoid the NM Funguar that will spawn if you kill the sapling closest to the room with the 2 bombs.

This isn't a terribly fast method, but it's pretty rewarding. I'm getting 3.1k exp per Op, plus around 500 exp off of the kills. By the time I finish the trial, I'll probably have gone from lvl 86 to lvl 89. It's also pretty decent for skill ups. So it's been a nice way of getting several different things accomplished at the same time.

A great place to do this is on chigoes in Abyssea-Attohwa. They're located in the SE corner of the zone near conflux 7. I run in pull with aga/aja and proceed to sleep/nuke in standard aga farming practise. Usually requires 3 agas to do to kill them all.

Pulls can be anywhere from 2-10 mobs and is a quick way to get through this finishing the mobs off with thundaga.

Hope that helps.

I aga'd down Funguar's in [A]La Theine at Conflux 4. There's 10 down in the bottom of the crevasse/chasm, if you pull from the end away from the conflux back to it you can use the ramp up to the conflux to force the mobs to run wide meaning you'll rarely get hit if you alternate being on and off the ramp. There's also a Martello down there.

For Slimes I did Garliage S with a buddy. Just made a day of it.

For treants there is a spot in woodlands where you can grab 6 saplings and sleepga/thundaga them down. Then you rest and go afk for 5 minutes while they repop. 6 every 5 minutes isn't a ton, but I liked being able to afk 80% of the time instead of killing them one by one.

since we're necroing, i'll comment for reference sake. all the first trials can be done at tele-mea in no time at all with a level sync buddy at 15-18. lots of saplings and frequent weather. kill 10 and be home by lunch.

for spiders (fire light wind thunder trials) i like kuftal, it has fire and wind often enough. i usually team up with the guys doing "horrible amounts of vermin" trial and just get my kills when weather manages to pop. again you only need 10 kills now so its not so bad. just check the weather through spectacles or the weather checker in rabao. it can be days between weather in some vana-seasons but since the trial is so short 1 day of gusts or heat spells is all you need.

also for reference on the killshot trials, you can team up since anyone's element-kill counts for all party members on the trial.
