My question is, what does my setup need to be for this guy? I've heard the 320/120 rule before. It doesn't seem to work on Odin. With the aquilo's staff, I had (including macc) 328 skill and 135 int. My accuracy on ice nukes was terrible. Thunder felt about the same, with 10 less acc and 4 less int. I only landed 1 or 2 nukes for full damage (~600) without elemental seal.

I also have 2 int merits and full skill and job merits on top of that stuff.
I intend to use my blm on odin for a while yet. I have little hope of acquiring a relic hat (it's a myth!), but I could get a gleemans cape or an omega ring, and most anything off of the auction house (except stuff like ixion cape etc.). I'm also not certain whether to use (nq) weskit or houppeland on this guy. I'm willing to work towards what I need to be effective, but what is it that I need? How far do I need to take this to get it to work?

I found some results (in Japanese) that some player recorded.
Conditions: Most of the nukes were used under 135 (81+54) INT, 322 skill, 7 magic accuracy, so this player had +11 more skill/macc than you (before Aquilo's Staff).
Results: Thunder IV had full damage 9/14 times, Thunder III 5/7. Even MB Blizzard IVs were horribly resisted (one 1/4; two 1/8). Edit: all 3 non-MB Blizzard IVs were fully resisted (1/8).
Conclusion: Odin appears far less susceptible to ice than to thunder. 320/120 was just supposed to be a rule of thumb for Wyrms. Wherever you can squeeze in more macc/skill/INT should yield better performance.

Thanks, that's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for! I can't read japanese, so I'll have to take your word for what all of that stuff says.
He resists the hell out of ice.
If you're already throwing all your ele skill and macc on, try getting a COR for the party. Otherwise you're kinda SoL. He's a bit more resistant than grand wyrms, from the few times I've gone on BLM. We pretty much just use RNGs and melee now.

I go on whatever job the leader wants, and we win, so I'm not complaining. He has me war on tier1-3, and blm on Odin.
BLMs are nice to have on all wings except Odin. If you have a WAR you should definitely be going on that. It's not surprising that you win regardless of set up because Odin is far easier than 95% of the tier 3 wings.
