Calling all galka blackmages, I was wondering do you use sorcerer's ring?

If so, how do you go about activating it, loads of zenit gear?

I'd appreciate if you would post your gear sets, so I know what I should aim for,

for anyone that is interested, my hp in nuking gear with /rdm is 1189.

I'm not a galka, but for starters I would definately say the 3 most important pieces you would need are the 3 zenith items from sky (mitts, legs, crown).

This would give you a solid foundation to build on especially if you dont have a ton of gil to spend(except for obviously "uncursing" the zenith itself).

Once you have those, you could activate it as a galka (1189hp) using the following "gil friendly" pieces:

1. Serket ring (the only other expensive piece to purchase, sorry)
2. Ether ring
3. Any elemental grip
4. Black cote
5. Blue cape
6. Star necklace

The first MAJOR issue with this is the "9" pieces (ouch) it takes to get your hp within latent range. There other other items you could use to reduce this to a 6 piece set but i tried to list items most people have a reasonable chance of getting with minimal amount of time and effort.

Here is a summary:

3x zenith (150)
Serket ring (50)
Ether ring (30)
Black cote (25)
Ele. Grip (20)
Blue cape (15)
Star neck. (15)

That would put you @ 305 hp down (7hp more than the needed 298 to get to 75%).

1189 - 305 = 884 / 1189 = 74.35%

Direct -hp gear works also as long as you macro them out when you nuke. If you work on better pieces of gear you can reduce the 9 pieces set down to a possible 6 piece set, but that could take MUCH more time and effort.

Hope this helps

~J.

im not galka, but i am elvaan with hp merits. youll have to put more effort into your build than mine, but you should be able to get there with only 1 piece of zenith if you dont mind shelling out for more expensive items like astral earring and serket ring.

a good place to start is to check what items you carry already that lower hp. when i started mine, i already had zenith crown, penitent rope, rostrum pumps, errant hands, and a star necklace from a long forget mid level bard set, which gave me a 135 hp into the build before i even had to start shoping.

some items that drop your cheap and are fairly cheap:
black cotehardie
blue cape
ether ring
electrum ring (although youll probably need serket)

not sure what the rse2 looks like for galka, but i know the elvaan hands are -55hp which is nice if you dont have zenith.

another thing to remember is that convert hp -> mp gear doesnt lower your maximum hp in terms of the calculation, so if you are already wearing some zenith you are already part way there. lastly, i had to learn the hard way that +hp items in some slots dont count for some reason (when in nuking set), back being one, and i dont remember the other offhand, but it wasn't one i was using.
but having said that, if you are unable to get the items to lower your hp that far, you could temporarily raise your hp in nuking set to counter it to a
degree with items like oracle's robe, walahra turban, bomb queen ring, etc.

edit: i forgot to mention, a good club/shield combo that is both r/x (aka freeish) and drops 55 hp is askelopis/astral aspis.

Well thank you for your input, looks like I'll have a lot of work ahead of me the get my blm ready for a sorc ring >.>.

It may very well be it'll be one of the last things I'll be able to upgrade to.

Asklepios + Astral Aspis/Shield will help. 2 of them are rare/ex, not particularly hard to get.

Prepare yourself for lots of expenditure. Prepare yourself to be glad it was worth it once you've done it though!

I'm a Galka BLM and I've had an activation set for Sorcerer's Ring ready for some time. Last week I finally had enough gil to buy the ring itself and I can assure you it's been worth it!

So, how do I get myself down to activate the latent...that's the most difficult part.

Firstly, if you have any HP merits this makes it a fraction more difficult. I only had two from when I played PLD a lot so I dumped these straight away to make this a little easier. This is the gear I use to push my HP down so the latent activates:

Main:
Sub: Ice Grip (Converts 20 HP to MP)
Ammo:
Head: Zenith Crown (Converts 50 HP to MP)
Neck: Star Necklace (Converts 15 HP to MP)
L.Ear:
R.Ear:
Body:
Hands: Zenith Mitts (Converts 50 HP to MP)
L.Ring: Serket Ring (Converts 50 HP to MP)
R.Ring: Ether Ring (Converts 30 HP to MP)
Back: Blue Cape +1 (Converts 20 HP to MP)
Waist:
Legs: Zenith Slacks (Converts 50 HP to MP)
Feet: Zenith Pumps (Converts 50 HP to MP)

This drops my HP down by 335 which is plenty enough to get the latent to activate. To be fair I don't really need to use ALL these pieces but I had them macro'd in so bleh - I use them anyway.

Jump back into nuke gear and slap people who cure you midway through casting... /grin

Hume with full hp merits so I have to use quite a bit of HP down items as well.

Ivory Sickle (with grip) and Tiphia Sting remove a nice chunk of hp for sorc ring.

I didn't think about getting a sorc ring until I got Z Mitts. The more Z gear the better to reduce the amount of inventory. It was a real pain for me to figure out how to macro all that **** in. I settled for a very clumsy 5 macro sets to get hp down and back to Nuke setup.

Do Einherjar for Morgana's Choker. Easy as **** to get 15k ampoules (4-5 weeks tops) and it's 40HP->MP. You could also pick up zenith feet off of Odin eventually. It's many magnitudes easier and more productive than trying to get a drop from faf/KB.

Asklepios is decently easy to solo; combine it with the better shield... I forget which is which.

Could try camping Vivian if you have friends willing to help. Pretty low droprate, but no one ever camps so it's easy to claim.

Non-Galkas always seem to overlook the RSE for these kind of tricks when giving advice to Galkas.

Here is a pretty need guide on how to get sorc to work with different gear pieces along with a list of gear pieces you can use.Only thing not listed are the newer pieces, like Ixion Cape and elemental grips. Hope that helps.
