I'm almost curious to try this solo guide for my Lv. 52 NIN just to see if it works.

BTW, got to 65 BLM last night with a combo of duoing with another BLM @ the Newton camp and soloing rats in the Subterrane. Now that I've got Waterga 3, I'm going to see if I can solo those bats now. When I was duoing with the other BLM (I was 64, he was 65) I would pull with Blizz 3, he would finish with Waterga 3.

I'll try tonight to see if that'll work for solo now that I'm 65 and have Waterga 3.

Just a note about the lower tier buffalo in Uligard range. They are soloable at 65, but also con DC at 66. So I think they can be safely removed from the list for the 66-70 level range.

King buffalo work at 75 though.

There are actually 3 tiers of buffalo in the range. First tier you can find two places- as you enter descend the first ramp you come to and there is a small camp there of 4-6 I believe. Then as you progress through the caves from that camp you come to the Bonaccon camp, and there is the second group of the bottom tier Buffalo. As a frame of reference these con EP (and low EP at that!) to a level 75 player. I wouldn't take my chances with Bonnaccon if he pops though, I've soloed him RDM/DRK and you can't sleep him, he's pretty much impossible to kite due to space limitations, and has this nasty enstun that can wreck your day.

The second tier Buffalos (Giant Buffaloes) can be found by starting your climb around the mountain, and you will find them in the second large open area you come to. They are accompanied by Raptors and Taurus mobs though, so pulls can be tricky. Taurus are true-sight and can really ruin all your fun, and Raptors just run fast, hit hard and are sight based aggro. These Buffalo do con DC to a level 75 Player, exp about average for a DC mob too.

And the final Tier are the King Buffalo up top by the ENM "Brothers" entrance (frozen waterfall) past where Jormy pops. These are a camp in the 70s as mentioned.

Hmm...Will try going back tonight then. I knwo where you're talking about with regaurd to the giant buffalo but hadn't realized that they were different from the regular buffalo.

The other thing I can think of to try is to kill the tracker antlions in attowha chasm. They've got a relatively tight level range (70-72), and would be comperable to buffalo if they're aspir-able.

Of course for those I'll bring a few stacks of antidotes in case one gets enough TP to use venom spray on me.

Then again, if the subterrain camp is open I'll just go there.

I have *GOT* to be doing something wrong. I'm a lvl 45 blm mithra, who can't solo worth a **** ANYWHERE this guide suggests. I'm given up and started seeking for party and not even trying to solo. I can't seem to figure out why I'm getting craptistic resist rate on the Pso'Xja elemental. I haven't been able to get 1 to 1/2 life before I run for the hills or get kill /waves white flag. Anyone can suggest anything better or tell me why mithras blows as soloing blms.

Just wanted to add that once you're at 68 blm/rdm can easily solo Om'hmpted (spelling?) in sea. At 71 many were still giving me 300 base xp.

Gravity -> drain -> run -> nuke -> repeat until they open their mouth then biggest nuke.

As a hume with medochre gear I started to be able to reliably solo them without resting around level 70.

With regaurd to the ps'oja elementals...are you sure that you're killing 'tonberry's elemental' and not a normal elemental, and are you casting things that the elementals are strong too. E.g. if it's a fire elemental you don't cast ice or fire spells, but should focus on water/lightning/air/earth spells? If you're casting the wrong element for the type of elemental it will resist you to heck.

If you warp to Mineshaft from the NPC in Oldton, you can head west then south through Newton to the set of gates @ F-10. The western section of that holds another foreman. This camp is not as safe as D-11 but is doable with invisible.

There is a moblin workman and a goblin packman in the tunnel behind but they stay a fair distance away for the most part. You can sort of wedge yourself in behind some troughs.

You want to one shot these mobs or it will be very slow and dangerous. I just got frustrated with waiting for the D-11 camp to be free and found this manageable. Don't take any risks here.

There is another Foreman on the way to this 'camp' but even for the foolhardy I couldn't see a safe place to cast from.

That would be my advice as well. It has nothing to do with being a mithra. If you're having trouble maybe you could try some of the camps recommended for slightly below your level until you get the hang of it.

lol I'm a mithra not a rock. I am casting on the right mobs and I double checked wiki for the elemental weakness and I got resisted every cast but 1 when I went there to solo last. Just to see if I wasn't crazy I casted a waterga spell and it did a mighty... 63 dmg. Most of my spells couldn't even break 100dmg. I've managed to get to 48 now (thank goodness for making your own parties or I wouldn't get anywhere) so I might go back and try again.

I personally never had ANY luck in the pso'xja camp- either the tonberries were never cooperative with positioning for pulls, or when they would be in a good position I'd get a combination of resists or the BST turning mid-pull. This was with capped skills and +4 elemental skill and +8 enfeebling skill from merits on my RDM.

I had much more luck in the Cape Terrigan secondary camp I mentioned on page 3 of this guide. Bunnies hit fast, but to be honest if you get it down it works well. Not to mention this secondary camp (not the outpost) is so completely superior because of fewer mobs to dodge on pulls and no random bunnies to link.

It picks up a lot at 51. If you really are against soloing now, try it again then with freeze and an ice/aquilo's staff.

Well I went back and tried at 48. Took me about half an hour to stop running to the zone getting a soloing strat that worked there (sans resists) but I did it. Got about... 1.5k an hour. But I did it just gotta refine my soloing lol
I had very little resist though Fire elementals seem to be the hardest to take down requiring 4-5 nukes and lots of sleeping and dancing around it in between.

I'm going to try taking the camps about... 2 lvls down from the suggested lvls because I was just met with too many resists in Pso'Xja and well I'll scout the camps afterwards because the Castle the zone was way to far away and those demons are way to fast....

I agree 100%! The Cape Terrigan Camp 2 in the tunnel is totally the way to go at around level 45 (I forget the full level range). Initially it seems like a pain having to invis and sneak "all that way", but trust me when I say it's worth it.

Speaking of "trust me when I say it's worth it", why do so many Blm not bother going to the Newton camp for the Goblin Headsman's Bat (listed 64-70)? I've yet to see another Blm there at all. Yesterday in 6 hours I gained 2 full levels and raked in 55k xp. I even had a few deaths that stopped my progress entirely for the down time. Sure the camp is dangerous, but you just have to be careful then. Oh for solo I wouldn't go here till you're level 65 at least though. Waterga III is almost fully necessary. Bind is somewhat unreliable (ie. wears off fast sometimes) and sleep is totally unreliable so AM are tough to get off as a kill shot. I just use Blizz3 for pull, run and start casting waterga3 when I hit the platform. I don't bother to bind because I like to save that for any resists I may get. I've only had the bat get through shadows to interrupt me once when it had 2 straight rounds of double attacks. If I get a resist on either pull or -ga, then bind and Thunder 2 ftw. If that also resists then either ES sleep 2 - aero 2, or if the hp is low enough just cast thunder between hits. Anyway, time for me to go get levels 68-70. Have fun! Great guide! I passed so many people that were higher level than my Blm. It makes me giddy.

This is my first time soloing BLM and it's the fastest exp I've ever got! Thanks so much for the guide. A couple of silly mistakes have got me killed a few times but it's all good :D

I had insanely stupid bad luck with that camp most of the time. As a mithra who *didn't* have a particularly hard time with most camps, this one haunted my nightmares.

Resists against bats are the worst, and it made this camp miserable for me. I had one or two good stretches of exp here, and a bunch of bad ones.

me, a BLM 62 and my friend, a BLM 63 duo in Newton Movalpolos. Works great!! we both cast Burst at the same time and basically one-shot it. We were getting chain 5s for 400+. The spawn time of the bat was perfect amound to get enough MP back. Only problem is if our spell casting was off, and if that happened, we rested to stop our casting. If we did happen to get aggro, i would cast escape immediately while by friend Stun/cure/attempt sleep. Great post!

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to compile all this information together. ^^ It's been a mixed blessing though, I have no idea how common knowledge most of these solo campsites were before, but I've had a string of bad luck of overpopulated camps.

I started BLM solo around level 29, trying to catch up to my BLM38 friend to duo. I was so surprised when I was able to make up the difference in our levels within a few days. Experience was fast and easy, and compared to the parties at that level, relatively painless--although The Sanctuary of Zitah made me want to rip my hair out by the end.

I just wanted to leave a note that it is possible to duo. Experience caps out quicker, but as long as you're willing to grind it or to risk resists at the next campsite up, it is still a great alternative to LFP-ing. Granted, both of us are generally equipped in the best gear available at our lvl, and are Hume/Mithra respectively, so go for a straight INT build. Also, we both have RDM leveled, so have not had to worry about capping magic skills yet. I know starting at 38, we went straight to the Castle and stayed until 42, when we switched to elementals in Pso'Xja. We skipped over Cape Terrigen completely, and from the other posts in this thread, I'm glad we did. ^^ We actually went to Gustav Tunnel at 46. Leech's at that level were tricky, but honestly our main hindrance were people camping the NM or other solo'ers. Since we could not one-shot pets, we had to stay tucked back in the East camp. I ended up switching jobs at some point and helping someone camp the NM just to get them out of there (they refused to leave any of the Shepherd's up); so much traffic through there for a few days.

We are now in Pso'xja again in the 60-capped camp. However, again, our main problem has been other campers. We had planned on moving sooner than 53, but everytime I did a /sea there was always another BLM, BLU, or even BST there. We were finally able to have it for a few hours tonight, and I wanted to say that it is possible to one shot the Goblin's Bat using Tornado (did around 938 consistently). Besides for a few resists (and it really is handy to have someone else ready with ES + Sleepga for an emergency logout), the exp there has been fast and easy.

Of course, there are downsides. Capping experience out at one camp and having to move onto the next one four levels before what's recommended involves being creative and patient with resist rates and inevitable death. Honestly though, it's been enjoyable, and how else are two black mages supposed to exp together outside of a manaburn? :P Although, I must admit, it is a bit irksome to see BST's & RDM's & BLU's monopolizing the pets, who all have other solo or party opportunities. It seems BLM post Kuftal Tunnel in the new areas is only invited to party as a last resort DD or worse healer.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had investigated any alternative campsites to Pso'xja and also Newton Movalpolos (sounds like that's going to be a popular one as well)? If I know someone's already occupying a campsite, I refuse to camp on top of them, but all too often someone else will, and push them out, and the cycle's continued. I've sat there spamming /sea PsoXja only to watch the single BLM turn into 2 BLM's & a BLU.

I hope this has been of some help to any potential duo'ers! & Again, thank you for the guide, couldn't have made it from 29 -> 54 in a week and a half without it. ^^ If anyone has any questions, feel free to send me a message or a /tell ingame.

Always,

I am currently in Gustav Tunnel. I have been duoing with my wife. She is RDM. We just hit 52 last night. Most of the times its very easy. Having her there means that I don't need RR items. Ya gilz.

We have had a few BLM try and camp ontop of us. Fortunately, I just switch from AM to pulling then sleeping. The soloing BLM don't seem to want to change from their AM on shots so I always get claim. BTW, I never try to camp ontop of someone. I just log out and come back later. However, if someone tries to camp on me... **** I will stay there until I rot just to make a point and make it so their exp sucks too.

It usually only takes about 20 minutes until the people trying to camp on you leave because their xp sucks too at that point.

Well, I've reached the end of my love affair with this post...I've been 70 for about 4 or 5 days now. I managed to go from 42 to 70 in about a week and a half of steady play. Gotta admit I'm pretty impressed with the results. My sky LS barely knew I was gone before I suddenly popped back up as a BLM.
Only problem is what to do now? Those Qiqirn are just outright boring to solo and party invites just don't exist. Maybe I'll go back to Newton for a long grueling level then head to Mt. Zayholm and hope for a mana burn. Oh well, whatever. Great guide!! I've turned some friends on to it and they're really enjoying it too. Considering running my SMN up to 70 now on this path. Smn/Nin ftw. Figure it should be much easier not having to wait for a Beastmaster to turn around to make a pull. Biggest problem I forsee is elementals and -aga spells. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

You don't need anything other than having CoP installed to access Pso'Xja.
