I really hate to sound like an idiot, but what kinda xp/hr are u seeing soloing BLM? I recently gave up on BLM b/c the invites/party chances reduced to almost nothing (53blm) and I went on to level mnk 75 and nin 64. I am really excited knowing that I can have a high level BLM and it only depends upon my dedication/skill/time. Please let me know. I may actually be capable of doing the Jay-Z of blm (yeah...its been retired more times than he has).

Before 51 it is more or less your average exp party's exp/hour except you don't have to worry about other party members being idiots. That, offset by the deaths in solo and you getting used to each solo camp basically causes them to be equal.

After 51, however, due to AM and a dramatic increase in good gear, solo exp/hour tends to be far better. I was getting 7000-8000 exp/hour in the Pso'Xja camp at 54 and it only increased as I gained levels and shifted camps, and I had some very un-high-quality-gear.

Thanks for the additional information. I'm in the process of gathering gear (camping/borrowing/etc) to work on soloing my BLM. I am a career MNK, but I often forget how much fun bbq-n-bind-n-bbq is. I read the post and like many others here on the forum thank you for helping. BLM isn't an easy job, but it is rewarding. I need to know tho...what subs are recommended for specific levels. For instance: can a 53 Elvaan BLM sub nin and still have enough mp for the big bombs/invis/rinse-repeat chains? Will I have to have RDM at certain areas due to fastcast. Like I said, I'm a returning BLM and still have so much to "re-learn." Thanks again Salacia!

Sub jobs are covered in the guide at the top, under "PREPARATION".

Hello everyone. I have been playing with BLU and using this solo guide.. right now my BLU is 28 and I have been Partying in the jungles since 24... I really didnt want to go to Rangeumont Pass, lol. Anway for BLU I wanted to add that you can go into Lower Delfutt's Tower and prey upon the Giblin's bats at 18(I subbed RDM and was pulling them with dia) quite effieciently and they DO NOT link with the the other bats in the area. (^.^). The spells i used was: Wild Oats, Head ****, and Power Attack. If your BLU magic is capped ( which i dont see why its wouldnt be) you should have no problem casting 3 maybe 4 spells to kill them( mainly using Power Attack), and the resists are very minimal and the bat might take 25-35% of your health i was still getting chain #2 and #3. I hope this helps out some of my fellow BLUs out there wanting to solo

{Hello!} i am having a lot of trouble with the Pso'Xja region. i have found the 60 cap entrance. after walking through a few stairs and hallways i get to a fork in the road and have to go either left or straight. this is very annoying, because i cannot find the goblin's jeweler and after i choose either left or right, the passageway that i chose closes up so that i cannot go back and rethink my decision. the first time i went, i thought i had chosen the wrong path and escaped out of Pso'Xja. bad idea. no map, no idea where i was warped back home. i finally have a map now, but i still cant find the camp inside of the Pso'Xja 60 cap zone. please help me

Regarding questions for the Pso'Xja 54-58 section:

I, too, had issues at 54-55 with one shotting the Bat. I found that resist rates on both Quake and Tornado left a little to be desired, and Quake and Freeze both may leave a sliver of health left. My solution was to, from either sub, cast a blink and have Blizzard 1 set ready to go. Waiting for the gob to finish walking and face away from me, I would cast an AM right when he stopped, solving most links. If the pet survived with a sliver, i would cast Bliz1 for an extra 100 dmg to finish it off. Half or Full Resists will still cause death more than likely due to bats' reluctance to sleep, but those are rare.

As for finding the camp, upon entering, hug the right wall the entire time and you will find it. The map is a large square, and you enter in the middle on the right hand side. You must continue around the map to almost the beginning again, where you can find the jeweler, make a left and fall in the hole.

Been using this lately for BLU, works pretty well. We can't one shot the pets, so it's a little more work for us, but CA our best spell and then spam wut we got works well. Cocoon, utsusemi, and refueling are a must. I also like to cast headbutt between big damage spells to delay the mob from hitting me, and it's also pretty decent damage for the amount of mp it is.

Can this solo guide really work for the lvl 20s? i was soloing in Buburimu on sylvestres and mighty rarabs recently, and i found that it took me about 4 spells to kill each mob. i'm finding it hard to believe that i'll be able to kill the gigas' pets in delkfutt's tower, on an even higher level, before they kill me... does this really work?
also, will i really need the ninja subjob or can i survive with whm?

I just tried this at level 51. It was working great until I accidentally hit a /ra <t> macro instead of my Freeze macro.

What a waste of a 70,000 gil Morion Tathlum.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I found an alternate camp in Gustav for the same level range (50/51-53). Head to the beginning of the second map, just like you would as if going to the listen camp, but instead of heading right, turn left and follow the path north and west to the empty tunnel. There will be a Shepherd basically right outside the tunnel, with some undead behind you. While I was there, I actually saw two Shepherds just outside (and sometimes inside) casting range. I'm not certain about the viability of this camp, because one time I was casting Freeze on a leech slightly outside of the tunnel and a crab aggroed me; I did make it out alive, but it was somewhat traumatizing. It probably needs further testing, but it seemed good for quite a bit. Hope I helped?

There are THREE camps in Gustav. One at the entrance to the area with the Goblin Shephards which attaches to the main tunnel. And at the two exits to the area.

At all three camps, there is a Goblin Shephard nearby whose leech you can Freeze. The leeches regenerate themselves in the time it takes to med back your 307 MP from casting Freeze.

Just make sure you set up your macros properly :)

Aydeewa Subterrane - [(E-10) Wajoam Woodlands - 68-72 - Qiqirn Archaeologist - RDM sub not needed, they will con VT to a 68 but they do not run at you to hit you, they just shoot you with a bow. I cast Thunder III to pull, then Stone IV, Thunder III, Blizzard III, Fire III, and then repeat starting at Stone IV and it will usually leave him at about 5% hp left if that doesnt kill him, you get around 240-300 exp a mob without exp ring. Hope it helps

Been using this guide to solo my BLM. I'm currently at 42 BLM (managed to get exp party to get to 42) but my major gripe is with the Castle Zvahl Baileys "camp".

I walk in there and I see absolutely ZERO, ZILCH, NADA Demon Warlock anywhere near the zone. The only place I can find one is in Xarcabard, near the Ulegurand Range zone. That place is decent due to the fact the zone is nearby, HOWEVER, the only way to really get to exp there is if the Demon Warlock spawns on the decline ramp that leads into Uleguerand Range. If the Demon Warlock spawns on the upper part above the zone, pulls are **** near impossible.

So where's the Demon Warlock supposed to be in Castle Zvahl Baileys? All I ever see are Pawns, Knights, and Wizards. No Warlocks and their pet elementals for me to nuke. >< Would it be a simple job of changing over to my BST and killing every Demon in the area and HOPING a Warlock spawns? Where is the Warlock supposed to be in the Castle Zvahl Baileys camp?

Having just finished leveling from 40-44 in Castle Zvahl Baileys, I can confim the Demon Warlock is there.

He is on the top area just as you zone into the Keep. (G-8) on the second map.

I usually pull back towards the zone incase I aggro the demon.

Goodluck & Take Care

i finally found the pso place. it was very good xp. anyways, i am now level 60 =D. i tried to go to bibiki bay at 60, with elemental and dark at 215 and 203, but i had enfeebling magic at 113. i ended up dying about 7 times because my sleep spells kept getting resisted. after my reraise hairpin was used up, i decided to do a few skill up PTs to get enfeebling up. i got enfeebling up to 193 and have had no problem sleeping the rabbit. i just want to point out that without everything capped, this guide is rendered useless. ty for the guide, and i havent died yet(with enfeebling @193)! =D

The gap between Dark staff and Pluto staff for Sleep accuracy is very noticeable as well. If you don't mind making some gil before leveling BLM this way, it will save you a lot of grief.

I'll probably try the Newton bats as NIN67. I've had far too many horrid parties lately and getting 3k/hr solo beats the **** out of putting up with several idiots who seem intent on killing me and getting 1.5k-2k/hr. I still need the map from in there anyway.

They're single bat pets, right? cannotlinkto is super slow this morning for me for some reason.

About a month ago I was at Beaucedine Glacier I-9 camp lvl'n on Rime Gigas pets for my Blu subs.
The Rime was already up when I got there that time.

Today I went there to get another lvl or two and was unable to get a Rime Gigas to pop.

Killed the whole cycle of Gigas twice(cold-snow-sleet)tryin to get the Rime to pop.

Has something changed ingame,or was I just unlucky,or is there a trick,etc?

Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere, but are you guys getting to chain #5 from one BST mob? Do they really resummon their pets fast enough for chain #5? Or do I need to find camps with more than one BST mob.

Yes, they really summon fast enough for chain 5. There is some MP management involved to make it happen, but you can definitely hit chain 5. Just rest more during the earlier chains when you have more time between chains, then rest less around chain 4-5. I basically like to be casting as soon as the mob is summoned for chain 5, and within maybe one wander of the gob after he summons for chain 4 (if that makes any sense hehe)

I just saw a lv45 Black Mage soloing Tonberry's Elemental in Uggalepih. He was camping on the first map at the east (off map) zoneline, past the Flauros spawn, on the way to the Rogberry/Goblet/Decimation NM area. There's one Tonberry SMN near the zone, so it looked pretty safe.

Since I didn't see it elsewhere, I figured I throw this out.

A major con, in my opinion at least, for the Gustav camp listed is when parties show up to camp the NM as the PH is the Shepard you're picking on.

This hindered me drastically every day I spent there as BLUs had the other camps to themselves.

Discussion of chaining really depends on your level range. If you check here you'll see that the amount of time you have increases as you get higher in level. Thus, what works for a level 52 BLM when you have a 60 sec time limit may not work if you're only level 32 and your limit is 40 sec.

If it makes you feel any better I'm level 27 and getting chain #2. The time I spend researching how to get chain #3 could better be spent leveling.
Edit: At 28 in Bibiki Bay the terrain is more open so I can pull the pet after the goblin's first wander after the pet is summoned so I can get chain #3.

Good point.

I started soloing bst pets at level 26 in Yhoator and there I definitely remember only being able to hit chain 4 usually. Not sure what level I was able to consistently maintain chain 5 to be honest. It was before 50 and AMs though, since I was still getting chain 5 in Gustav on the rabbits there before I had Freeze and my Aquilo's (just making it 1000% easier hehe).
