Leveling Up Your Black Mage 1-10Follow

#1 Nov 04 2003 at 3:46 AM Rating: Default
Does anybody have good tips for leveling up your low Black Mage? I'm a Level 6 and seem to only find REALLY hard Goblins or really wimpy Worms and Bees. Anybody know a good place to lvl build? I need to get to 10 to pick up some decent spells!!! Thanks...

I went to S Gustaberg and fought Quadav and Rock Lizards. Farther west the Vultures and Walking Saplings start to get tougher making them worth fighting as well.

Good! You're a bastoker as well. At level 6 you could probably do well on the hill. I forget the name of the hill, but it is marked on the map and is in S Gust. You can climb up by ramps on the northeast and southwestern sides. I fought there until I was about L8 or 9.

After that you can head west to the fumaroles - an area in S Gust marked on map, a few swamps and rock formations mostly with vultures, quadavs, crabs, and saplings - and fight until L10 or 11, and then head into dagruf wadi (zone southwest of S Gust, past the fumaroles) and find your way around there to some decent challenge and even mobs. Don't go up the geysers unless you have a group or are L14 or so, the stuff gets tough up there.

Alternatively at about L11 you can head to konschtat highlands (area northwest of north gustaberg, only reachable from south gustabergs's northwest exit -> north gustaberg -> konschtat highlands) and fight in the western area of the zone.

There is a levelling guide on Slow site, give it time to load.

Another good area to go to at level 6 is near the lighthouse by Bastok. Lots of vultures and goblins show up there for 50xp each. I have found that is best to attack monsters with a check of decent challenge for safe leveling. Also, it works best to attack and cast magic at the same time. You usually can sqeeze of a hit when you are waiting to cast. I am betting bind will make life easier at lvl7. Then, you can nail monsters to the ground from a distance and hammer them with spells.

Another thing I would do is get bind at the auction house before you need it so you can immediately learn it at lvl7.

I find fighting Carrion Crows and Savanah Rarabs outside in Sarutabaruta East outside of Windhurst Woods is good for exp. But you have to watch out for Yagudo Initiates, they agro.

And no, I don't talk like the rest of them.....weirdos.

Another good spot is the hill behind the outpost in W. Sarubarutu. You can set your homepoint at the outpost, so if you die, you don't go to far and can even kill off the b*st*rds that killed you just seconds later. It's a great spot!!

One place that is good at levels 8-9 is North Gustaberg by the Outpost. Lots of nice Amber and Amethyst Quadavs to nuke at a decent challenge. Rock lizards are usually decent challenges up in this area.

Make sure your enfeeblement skill is decent, because if you are soloing you will need good binding.

On your way up from Bastok, you can ask the IM to give you a supply quest up to the Gustaberg Outpost - it doesn't give you a lot of conquest points, but you're on your way up there anyway.

I'm having a similar problem, except I'm in san d'ora.. not by choice, my stubborn elvaan warrior friend won't leave his "homeland" so I was forced to walk there on foot at level 1. Now that I'm there, he's suddently convinced he can solo his entire career and refuses to group with anyone (except cute mithra and elvaan girls >X( ). Now I've got no one to group with. The orcish outpost is always too crowded to solo, and no one wants to group. The tomb is easy until I get deep, then everything is "tough" and "even match." Where can a level 9 black mage hunt? Someone help me!

Sorry for the use of EverQuest lingo in that post (about the level 9 black mage in san d'oria). I use it without thinking, and apparently that makes some people mad.
