I am leveling my SCH to sub for my 75WHM since I just came back after 4 years off and was wondering if anyone here has recently leveled their SCH from 1. I have soloed from 1-21 as SCH/BST but exp is getting slower and was wondering if I should just keep churning it out or if I should start looking to PT somewhere. I've been in the Dunes for a couple of levels doing the Lizzy - Sand Hare GoV page but I'm looking for suggestions on what to do next.

Thanks!

I don't know how many pet camps were destroyed by various changes, and the exp rate killing beastmen pets probably pales in comparison to GoV exp rates. But lvl 24 (/NIN) was when I started nuking beastmen pets when I leveled SCH.

I've thought about doing the beastman pet thing but didn't know if that was still viable. I guess I don't know what I need to do to get a PT at this level.

If you are only using sch for /sch on whm, then just head to Gusgen Mines and join a GoV alliance. You will be level sync'd the entire time, but you will hit 49 in a few hours. Since it is a subjob for something you already have leveled, then the concern-able skills (healing, enhancing, etc) should already be leveled up.

Thank you. I will head that way and see if there is anyone leveling there. Now, with all the quick jumps in levels, are folks buying up the gear for all their levels ahead of time or do they just stick with what they have on at the time? Seems if I gear up, I'd need to carry gear from lvl 25 - 49, that's a lot of stuff! :)

All you need is a cheap set of gear that you can equip at your current level to take you all the way these days. You will notice some people don't even both with gear and come out wearing their level 1 RSE or the annual pieces. I personally prefer decent gear for my current level and then regear once I leave at my new level. Since you already have whm leveled you should have most of your spells already learned, but you may want to pick up your scrolls ahead of time if you need them.

Crawler's Nest GoV is pretty good when you get a bit higher.

If you like the /BST aspect of it though...

Level 37-> 40 I go to qufim and charm the kraken. I use the kraken to eat Qufim (doing some FoV) and get to 40 quickly.

At 40 I like to go to Yhoater Jungle and Charm a Bee and sic it on goblins and lizards. I usually do that to 49 and it goes decent enough for me. The early levels are fairly fast though it slows down a bit.

The cheap pet food (e.g. level 36 Pet food Gamma) is cheap to make and pretty powerful at its level. You can spam that too to help you level faster.

If you like soloing, that works.

If you just want to get it over with... try Gusgen mines GoV, and then CN FoV.

I'd love to just get it over with. Solo is ok but I like to party. Only issue is, I never see anyone my level on (I'm on Bismark, /sea all level 25-27, 3-4 other players on). Should I just go to Gusgen or try to form the party in Port Jeuno?

Just go to Gusgen, people will start showing up. The other suggestion, since this is an alt, is have a friend take you to a high level GoV area and have them burn down pages. You will pretty much just be there for the page xp, but it makes leveling up subjobs so much faster.

Just realize that partying is not quite the same as it was 4 years ago. And I'm not just talking about the old school, skill chaining with magic bursts parties. It's even different than TP burn for high exp chain parties.

Sweet mercy, that felt like cheating. I thought a GM was gonna show up at some point and ban us for circumventing the game or something! 27-39 in about 3 hours or so. I just showed up at Gusgen and a lvl 17 asked to party. I thought, whoa, that's gonna kill exp. Then level sync. Then I thought, "I have no level 17 gear with me!" Does matter either. Yikes. On one hand, it's amazing to blaze through but on the other hand, I still have no idea how to play SCH! :D Guess it doesn't matter too much since it's just a sub, and it's nice to know I'll be able to level everything to 50 pretty quickly. We even had some lvl 12s show and party.

Thanks again for all the input folks. Getting a pt was easier that I imagined. Oh, funny story. A guy showed up who, like me, just came back from a multi-year hiatus and he said he sat in the Dunes for 3 hours LFP. Had no idea that people didn't do the Dunes > Qufim > Jungles route any more. I said that everyone should have to do that at least once in their character's life! :)
