Regarding just the SCH specific merits, this is the commonly accepted "Must have" merits:
- Helix Acc/damage: 5 (max). +15 macc and +10% potency is really good.
- Enlightment: 1. Just unlocking this one will be enough to make your life much, much easier. Reapplying RR2 or tossing a R2 while in Dark Arts, Flinging a Sleep II while on Light Arts, etc. I personally have found it really useful in events with too many people, when i'm nuking and get hit by a status effect. Instead of asking for a -na or Erase, just pop Enlightment and apply it yourself.
- Stormsurge: 5 (max). +7 to a stat when applying storms is great, specially on icesday and Hailstorm, +7 int and Helix (or nuke) away!
Other than this three, it is common to raise the remaining Cat. II points in Focalization, for 2H usage, and 5 in Sublimation, for that extra 50 MP.
