It can be hard to remember to use stratagems sometimes when you've taken a break from the job. Whenever I have to play healer I always make a point to parsimony my cure4's and keep up SS/phalanx whenever possible. Take advantage of regen too, it can be an MP saver. I probably don't always need to, but I rest every chance I get. Best time to do that is right after putting up SS on the PT.

For nuking situations You'll want to parsimony majority of the time. For most things I'll ebullience or free nuke until uggy pendant procs and then parsimony spam until I'm out of MP and sublimation will give you just enough to stay within uggy range still. However you decide to play, things have become much easier if you are lv80 because of convert.

That's pretty much all there is, you have abilities that minimize use of mp and ones that will enhance party survivability if you use them both with the right spells.

Just keep up accension stoneskin, accension phalanx, accension regen 2 and rest whenever you can.

Best to penury for the highest mp spells like reraise.

Also dont forget to keep sublimation up, sometimes i actually forget i have it fully charged lol

Stoneskin is a massive mp saver if it's being used properly. You're looking at 58 MP for up to (350*6) = 2100 HP saved. Less MP than a single cure 4 which will restore around 400 hp, or (to be fair since we're using a charge for SS) about 20 mp more if you used penury.

I was going to say (why I bothered replying since I'm not adding anything much...) that you should carefully analyse the situation before using it, but to be honest if even 2 people get full use out of their skins it's worth casting (more efficient than cure 4) especially since you also get the safety net for oneshots and spell interrupts. So never mind.

If none of your DDs are /nin, then I would replace regen II with blink in my accession cycle, and simply cast regen II as needed. We're so used to blink being an lol spell a lot of people forget about it. With phalanx and pro 4 the average xp mob will hit a DD for around 150, so blink saves 300 hp per. Assuming the mob doesn't have AoEs, then it's way less efficient.

but to be honest if even 2 people get full use out of their skins it's worth casting

^This. Don't be afraid of the no effect message. Once the 2nd persons skin goes down cast it again then regen II the damage, and get a tick or two of rest in if you can.

Also, I know a lot of people say enfeebles aren't worth it if the mob dies in 30 seconds, I say whatever saves mp is worth it.

Paralyze for instance, it's 5 or 6 mp (can't remember) and casts in less than 3 seconds. There is really no reason not to cast it (I know colibri reflect, but since you know it's coming you should be able to remove it almost immediately).

If it even procs one time, that's 6 mp saving hundreds of hp. Add in a goblin mushpot for +10 mind, and a halfway decent mnd enf. set, and you're almost guaranteed to see at least 1 or 2 procs per mob.

One last thing, the closer your DDs are in damage, the easier it will be. If their hate levels are pretty similar, when one gets their skin broken and takes a little damage, the mob should then turn to the next in line and have to work thru their stoneskin, blink, phalanx.

But if one DD is way ahead in damage, then the AoE buffs lose a lot of their appeal, and you'll be stuck cure bombing him.

Mostly what Fermion said, but I'll add a few things:

-Accession Phalanx is almost always a wasted charge; unless your party is eating constant, multi-hit physical AoE, that charge is better used on an extra Stoneskin, even if it only hits 1-2 people. To put it in perspective, your DDs would have to take 10+ hits to equal the potential mitigation of one person receiving Stoneskin; basically, the only time it's worthwhile is if one person is keeping mobs glued to themselves, since that many hits spread out amongst the party just makes an extra Stoneskin an even more efficient choice.

-If your DDs are /NIN, Accession Aquaveil is invaluable; along with Stoneskin, your DDs will have to try pretty hard to get interrupted when recasting shadows, which should eliminate the need to even cast Cure spells.

-Penury Cure IV.... there is always a better way to use that charge. I guess maybe if you're extremely low on MP you could justify it, but the returns on this are tiny compared to Accession for White Magic.

-I'll second Blink just for emphasis, it lasts 5 minutes and can mitigate even more damage than Stoneskin in many situations.

RDM can attain an almost static 50% reduction to recast time, SCH can over shoot this for a total of 60% reduction under Alacrity (provided you are wearing loafers and keeping dark weather on yourself)

MACC is a joke, any job with access to mage gear can hit close the MACC cap on legion mobs, which is why my BRD/RDM can land slow/para/blind despite having only 150 skill (from /RDM.)
