Firstly, on equip lines, you don't need the <me>. /equip Main "Earth staff" works just fine.

Secondly, I'm not sure I understand your dilemma:

Are you referring to when you hit your macro, you don't see the casting animation? With a macro like that, equipping the staff will "blink" your character, but you'll still cast the spell so long as you don't move. You will still gain the benefits of the staff being equipped.

Using the video as an example, when Bandit casts Blizzard III @ 0:56, you'll notice you won't see the spell casting animation, but the spell still casts.

@ 1:06, he starts to cast Stone IV. His macro probably swaps in Earth/Terra's staff, but since Gunther's Aero IV animation is going off, his character won't "blink" but he still does have the correct staff equipped, despite Bandit looking like he's got the Ice/Aquilo's staff equipped.

Also:

Sub: Apperiote Grip

Appropriate grip? As in the elemental grips? Or Bugard Strap +1?

Your gear looks fine otherwise. Blink band before entering (much like in the video) is also a good idea. Stoneskin torque is another source of damage mitigation, but that's up to you.

Keep in mind that this is an extremely luck based fight, so don't despair. You have roughly a 2/8 chance of losing the fight no matter what (if the grimoire is Earth or Light element, you either heal it or it heals itself, and without the grimoire dead in two spells, you're dead), and then the resist rate, even with optimal gear is somewhat high. I had a Terra's Staff, an Aquilo's Staff, and a Jupiter's Staff, as well as an Elemental torque and near max int gear, and still lost a few fight before finally winning.

Just don't give up, it's a stupid fight, so keep that in mind when you go at it. I did it in my 22th attempt, but it could have been the first, if Schultz didn't resist two straight nukes at the end.

At least the testimonies are really easy to solo...
