Solo camp etiquette?Follow

H'okay, so long story short. Sch being my first nuke-capable job to 75 (now 71) so I still have yet to fully understand what's proper and not when communicating with other Scholars or Blms in solo camp areas. I'd solo'd the majority of my levels (literally; that is without teaming up with another Sch or Blm).

I was solo'ing in D-12 of Vunkerl Inlet on the Giga's Tiger a bit earlier, /seacom up stating "Pet D-12, also TP burn 54+" and maybe an hour later a group of 3 Blms show up. One starts asking me if I'd rather join but I state that I am already lfp for any TP burn parties in AU for my own reasons and insisted I'd continue to solo at D-12 since I was there first. Without hesitation they start pulling the pet mob I'd been working on and sensing aggressiveness on their part I begin to wonder if I should just join them or not, but I really did prefer to wait for a party on my own terms. In any case they continue pulling the pet mob as it respawns, offering for me to join once more but I openly decline and make my way out of Vunkerl, a little confused and perturbed at what was going on there, and of course thinking they were being douches.

So that leads me to this --- is this behavior normal when dealing with Sch or Blm interaction in solo camp areas? What should I expect to do and what should I have done?

Your lucky they asked you to join. Some people just come in and take over. Like on mount z I was soloing and a full pt came in and had the brd sleep all the puddings or blms stun every pop and I only need like 1 lol I tried to slow down for them but they just took it all. Sometimes it happens, you move on. Though it's best to join unless you can tell they suck. ^^ if it's me going to solo and there isn't enough room I leave but if it's a incomplete group I ask if the other person wants to join. It's on mount z and Garuda it's not usually full and people team up so it usually ends well.

Lol they should have more respect, but that is more of a BST type thing. I have seen BLMs run in and steal camps, but never a BST, they usually would ask to team up or go somewhere else. Basically if they are coming into your camp and not respecting you, IMO you have all the right to do anything you want like steal mobs(if they are yellow they are nobodys) and to sleep mobs and rest so you have the claim.

Heh I had to laugh at this. I levelled BST way way back, started levelling it just before the MPK patch hit, and back then I would have agreed with you. If I was at a camp and another BST came along we'd either duo or he'd leave, and if I came to a camp that was taken I'd do the same thing. Nowadays however (and I blame ToAU largely for this) I have found that people really are ********* about this. I've done a lot of exping /BST and I've only ever had a few occasions where upon someone arriving at my camp they were civil about it. The majority of the time they just try camping on top of you or something along that line.

People in my experience tend to have no decency and manners; usually thinking that their exp is more important than everyone else's fun/exp. I actually find that the worst offenders tend to be JP, maybe this is just me but recently especially I have been pretty enfuriated by what bastards some JP players have been. I mean take yesterday, I logged in at Bibiki Bay pet camp to see if it was free and saw that the gob wasn't there. Went to have a look around and this RNG with a Kclub was killing the local population while being PLed by two mages. There were plenty of mobs around so I did a /s {Excuse me} {please} {goblin} {beastmaster} {can I have it} {pet} which got completely ignored. I tried telling them individually and nothing. Eventually the gob BST repopped and I waited by it when the RNG came along and started making to pull it. I tried one last /tell but he went ahead and pulled. After he'd killed it I went for a /s {please} {kindness} {can I have it} to which the bastards finally replied {goodbye} w

/sigh

I blame ToAU.. back before it was released I swear there were less people retards like that around.

Ask not what the rest of the server can do for you. Ask what you can do for them.

Solo camp etiquette?

There's no such thing.

The first, last, and only rule of FFXI is "Look out for #1, and to **** with everyone else." Even the slightest demonstration of decency or kindness towards others is considered to be an open invitation to completely **** you over, and trust me, the community will waste absolutely no time in taking you up on that.

God, I miss the days when I could say with a straight face that this game's community was better than WoW's.

We've all been in situations like this before; it's hardly limited to solo camps. You can choose to get upset about it and feel like the whole server is against you, or you can be proactive and take steps to fix the situation:

-Do your best to outclaim them.
-Team up and work together.
-Find someone else to team up with to even the odds.
-Warp out, find another camp, find something else to do altogether.
-Be spiteful and kill the BSTs or w/e on another job.

All are much more productive than complaining that, for some reason, the other players on the server might consider their advancement to be more important than yours. It's not because they're evil people or some of the other nonsense being stated here; you're competing for scarce resources, namely mobs/xp. Sure, you're bound to run into some genuinely rude people, but they're hardly the majority. Blame SE for making so few viable pet camps, not the players with whom you share a common goal.

This sort of thig really anoys me one time i was in a manaburn on blm in zi'tah see some random soloer killing bst mobs so i /tell them "{excuse me...} {black mage} {party} {goblin} {beastmaster} {pet} {can i have it}" which gets ignored so i say it again gets ignored then after not killing anything for over 30 mins someone in party starts /shouting things to them.

People need to be more cosiderate about things like this in most of my ls's we have a lack of blms and after lvling blm a bit i start to think is it because people dont wanna lvl it or they cant cos of a few asses that cant accept other people need exp as well. btw the example in zi'tah was a lvl 75 just killing everything around and couldnt leave 1 mob for others to exp off.

i say SE should allow mpk just for the peple that decide to be complete as****es.

they dont let you exp they get delvled to lvl 10 lmao

The douche bag list is never ending, just last night I had a group move in on my Bhaflau Thickets bird camp (Middle) I ask them nicely to leave and the leader just said "Sorry with your set up you should go to caedarva mire" It was at that point that I realized why SE doesn't allow us to IP trace people. I was so ****** off I wanted nothing more then to meet that douche in RL so I could catch him up on the beatings he missed out on since he never new who is daddy was. We have to face the fact, untill SE makes douchebaggery a bannable offense all we can do is submit to this rude behavior.

1. I believe this should be put in a main forum (since this really applies to every job, but this is still a good place for it^^), but that's neither here nor there.

2. yeah, I had a few times where I was solo'ing off mobs and someone comes in, even though I'm right out there in the open, resting, then promptly takes all of the mobs I am killing, even the mobs that I'm not, and doesn't even think of either sharing the mobs, camping spots, or going to another area. The irony is, that I usually go into the areas that pretty much no one hunts mobs in when I solo.

Usually if I had the camp in my comment people were pretty aware and just didn't intrude. Although, if you don't have a comment or respond to tells and it's a pain to get to, then that is just waiting to provoke pratts. At least for pet camps if you feel really annoyed/vindictive you can always ***** with the actual beastmen and disrupt pets from respawning.

Often times I find myself in more ambiguous camp situations. Like typically leyline (among others) can hold 2 mediocre parties, but only 1 good party. So if people only see 1 group they try to move in. But if you have a good puller you can typically force them to leave, granted having 3 slept mobs at camp can end up with you looking like the jerk.
