I'm a 46 SCH (my first back-line mage job), and was wondering: does increasing your cap on Sublimation work like Meditate, where you only have to pop on the gear when you first hit it, and can change back to what you were using, or do you have to constantly wear the gear to increase your cap on it? I've been using it, but recently, I've been wanting to increase my effectiveness at using sublimation.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

No, it doesn't work that way.

I never understand why people get so touchy over other people starting posts that are perhaps uneccessary due to the information being around somewhere else or for whatever other reason. Sure maybe he could have found out on his own but it's not hurting anyone to post.

Going to a web site to get this data is the very essence of wanting things just handed out to you. Going to wiki for the info is even worse than posting a question on a forum. With wiki, you can get your info right now. If you post a question to a forum, you have to at least exercise some patience in waiting for a response.
If you had told the OP to go run tests in-game to figure it out, then you would be consistent with what you said.

As an experienced player, you have 3 options in response:

-Answer their questions, offer your opinions, allow yourself some satisfaction for helping another player improve their game with your experiences. This is the nice, helpful thing to do.
-Maybe answer the OP's question if they're lucky, but be a condescending prick in the process, forgetting that once upon a time, you didn't know everything there was to know about FFXI, and the many friends/strangers/forum posters that helped you expand your knowledge to what it is today.
It's 2009. You can rest assured that the vast majority of posts on this and other FFXI sites are going to be pretty similar to this one until the servers shut down. If this somehow affronts your delicate sensibilities, I urge you to forego posting at all, instead of derailing these threads into a soapbox to espouse your unique and rather childish worldviews as they apply to FFXI. Honestly, your mastery of circular logic would be quite impressive, if it didn't make my brain hurt so much every time I read it.
To summarize:
