I'm doing exactly what wiki says i'm now 0/2. First time both my Stone IV and Blizzard III were completely resisted and this newest time he started out Earth element. i'm so depressed over this fight already cause my confidence wasn't good to begin with hearing the horror stories of this and now they are just shattered. Below is my equipment which is pretty much the best i can get at my point in the game being rank 1 w/ 4 medals in campaign ; ;. Really makes me wonder if Square Enix fought Schultz at a base lvl of 70 cause it just seems so improbable. My friend says hes gonna help me get Shiva's Ring and Patrician Cuffs but i'm not sure if those would help much.

SCH70/RDM37 Elemental Magic 149 base Elemental Magic w/ gear: 249 INT: 75+26

Weapon/Grip: Correct NQ Elemental staves/Bugard leather strap+1/elemental grips

Helm: Scholar's Gown
Body: Scholar's Gown
Hands: Seer's Mitts+1
Legs: Druid's Slops
Feet: Scholar's Boots
Back: Red Cape+1
Belt: Penitent's Rope
Neck: Elemental Torque
Earring 1: Moldy Earring
Earring 2: Morion Earring
Rings: 2x Wisdom Rings
Ammo: Phantom Tathlum

Also how do u solo the farming of the test cause each time i try i die. Not sure if its cause i've mained healed up to 70 or what. Also does my natural elemental magic calculated instead of my dark arts elemental magic.

I'm in the same situation as you, only that instead of being 0/2, I'm 0/16 :P

First off, regarding the testimony: It's stupidly easy (and I'd say also fun) to farm solo. From the point you enter East Ronfaure (S), you'll find a group of 3 orcs in the second ruined wall you find, to the right. There is a WAR, a RNG, and a DRK. You'll be fighting the WAR and the RNG, and avoiding the DRK at all costs (it is defeatable, but much more difficult than the other two).

Buff with stoneskin, blink, phalanx and the storm corresponding to the current day, then pull with an ebullienced helix. Walk away for a while to avoid links, then Bind, Stone IV, Gravity, and keep nuking till it's dead, renewing the helix when it wears off (abuse modus veritas). Rest to full MP, rinse, repeat. You shouldn't be hit much if at all.

Regarding the fight, once we are in a certain level of preparation ( have practically the same gear as you), it's a matter of luck and not ***** up when the right conditions come. It's also practically necessary to bring avile elixir and a vile elixir +1, to recover HP/MP in the Gunther fight, as he will often run up to you to interrupt your casting and you'll get resists when they do the most harm to you.

I'm taking a break from the fight, in order to get some HQ elemental staves. I had to get them sooner or later, anyway. So far I have Terra's and Aquilo's, and soon i'll get Jupiter's. with those, nuking him will be more accurate and do more damage, so hopefully next time I find a defeatable book (i.e., not earth or light, dark is defeatable with some luck) I'll clear it.

Good luck, and be patient.

Oh, and to solo the testimony you'll need capped or nearly capped elemental and enfeebling. Do some besiegued, spamming stone, water, dia and you'll cap them in no time.

Subjob isn't removed for this despite it being a G5? Or using items to achieve this?

That's part of the strat to solo the testimonies. I think I was clear enough (which, on the other hand, it's just a gravity kite + nuke strat, nothing exactly groundbreaking)

What should i go about for ways of macros to make it more simpler and easier boss flow for me?

Can u carry both versions of the vile elixir?

Also should i go a little overkill with more healing items. Cause I actually killed the grimiore on my last try on icesday with the ice ring. However Schultz got me before i could do one more nuke to get him to 20% and wasted me with Blizzard III. I don't wanna make that mistake again cause getting rid of the book is the hardest step and i made Schultz too hard that run.

I think i like fighting him on Icesday for the simple fact i can get my elemental magic up to 264+ with the ice ring and i recently got the Vicious mufflers so with the moldvite earring, mufflers and a NQ Elemental Staff I should have 20% Magic Attack Bonus total and +22 Magic Accuracy with the staves powers and the elemental grip.

I'm practically in the same situation. Now 0/2 on the fight.

Weapon: NQ Elemental Staves
Sub: Elemental Grips
Helm: Scholar's Mortarboard
Body: Scholar's Gown
Hands: Seer's Mitts +1
Legs: Druid's Slops
Feet: Scholar's Loafers
Back: Red Cape +1
Belt: Penitent's Rope
Neck: Elemental Torque
Earring 1: Morion Earring
Earring 2: Morion Earring
Rings: Hale Ring + Wisdom Ring
Ammo: Phantom Tathlum

In my 2 tries so far, I've always managed to kill the grimoire without any problem, but then Schultz always kicks my **** once I get him to about 30-40%. D:

I've only used an NQ Vile Elixir per fight so far, but I am considering bringing both NQ and HQ to the next fight and see if the added healing makes any difference, although my wallet will be hurting...

Also, I still haven't been able to find a Blink Band on the AH, maybe having Blink could make things slightly easier, or at least buy me some time to nuke Schultz down.

Except when you nuke the grimoire and find out it's ice element :)

The hardest part about the fight is the luck factor. You have no idea what element is going to be absorbed by your target until you've already fired off your nuke. By which time, sadly, you've aggroed both of them and they're tearing you apart.

No Stoneskin. No Blink. No chance. Without support jobs, Scholar is an extremely brittle job. We have nothing to save us from death and not even an enfeeble to give yourself more breathing room. That alone makes this an extremely difficult battle when faced with two targets. At least BLM only had to deal with Maat and Maat at least played by the same standard rules... aside from Asuran Fists...

Still at 0/6. Currently considering leveling another job for the 70 cap fight. :/

(yes, I'm that annoyed at the ridiculousness of it)

Ridiculous or not, the Schultz fight is far more interesting and fun than boring old Maat was anyday.

Interesting? Possibly. It definitely stops being "fun" after a few failed tries, countless hours spent farming for testimonies and a few hundred thousand gil down the drain though.

I'm a firm believer that when SE made this fight; they completely forgot that SJ's are taken out.

They probably designed it with the idea of the SCH Graviga/BIndgaing them to buy time <_<
Because the current 100% luck method is just awful.

Someone before did it by nuking the book and running in and WSing the book with 300tp. Capping staff would be a bit of a pain though i'd think

I found a Stoneskin Torque and Blink Band to be worth every single gil, and then some. I'd recommend anyone considering this fight pick them up. Finding them isn't always easy, and the Torque can cost a bit more than you would probably want to sink into a Genkai 5 fight, but at the same time if you think about the pain and aggravation you're saving by not doing the fight over and over, it's well worth it.

Don't get me wrong, there's still a big luck component to it, but anything that helps grease the wheels for you in a fight like that pays for itself.
