Stormsurge limited to certain areas?Follow

Last night im in dynamis buburimu and cast snowstorm on the blms and myself for a INT boost and noticed it does nothing.
It does work in original dynamis areas though.

Last week i was in a level sync pt and it didnt work in that either.

Are these glitches or did SE make it that way?

I cant speak for your dynamis issues, but stormsurge is a merit JT, the added effects will not show up in sync parties. >.>

Yea that makes sense and ive also would like to add that desert boots+sandstorm didnt work for me in dynamis buburimu but they do work in original dynamis areas.

Doesn't work under level 75..

I never noticed or heard no one say it never worked in dreamlands, they do indeed work a tad differently than normal dynamis zones, but I put on ice/thunder for blms regardless because thats what they nuke with, but I never once heard:

"Hey why aren't I getting my INT boost?"

Desert Boots work in dreamland Dynamis. I was running through Valkurm last week and saw the movement speed working.

Maybe your macro misfired, and you didn't equip the boots?

Another possibility is that you simply kept running.

Not many people know this, but in order for movement speed+ to work you need to stop moving for a sec and then resume your running.

This can be easily seen in ballista. If you /sprint but do not stop running, you'll keep running at your regular speed (Even with the flee icon) until you stop a sec and run again.

As far as Gaiters and Ghetto Gaiters go: If you equip them they have a small lag (About ~1 sec) before they actually kick in.
Usually this "lag" is dealt with the simple casting animation which binds you in place if you're using Sandstorm.
Had you skipped the animation however; it's entirely possible that they didn't get a chance to kick in before you started running - Making you run at regular speed until you stop.

I thought the problem is only if you were auto-running at your old speed. If you're not on auto-run, and just keeping the joystick/direction key pressed for movement, the change in movement speed should kick in after a delay of about a second or two. I could've sworn I've seen this happen with my NIN AF boots when the game goes from day to night.

set auto run
remember to equip boots after
forget to stop to let moment speed take effect.

My running macro doesn't fit onto my first 80 palette so its on the next one down i have forgotten once or twice when really busy ;p

This is correct.

Autorun >> switch to movement + = staying at whatever autorun speed you were on in the first place.

Running or stopped >> switch to movement + = move at whatever enhanced speed.

This is true for all types of speed enhancements. Degradations, however, will have their effects showing immediately with 1 exception. If you're running with autorun and hit the button to walk, you will not immediately start walking. You will, however have a penalty applied toward turning your character. This is due to the fact that it takes less to turn a slower moving body the same degree or rotation.

If you are on auto-run and use flee: You'll run at normal speed till autorun is removed. Auto-run immediately after purchasing an outdoor chocobo: You'll ride the chicken at the same speed as people running beside you.

Regarding dreamland boots and stormsurge, I can attest to both working. Perhaps you had an odd piece of gear that didn't belong that would have offset the stormsurge bonus?

Regarding anything pre-75: Everyone else answered that job specific merits will only apply to that specific job when it is level 75. Any cap for whatever reason will deactivate the job specific merits.

I have to test things out again because i know all about the lag effects when using desert boots. I was casting Sandstorm and didnt even see any boost in VIT stats either.
I think it could have been a rare glitch or something because i also recall my LS icon showing when it should of had a bazaar icon instead and i did have my glass bazaard. (My dyna ls bazaars the glass so in case anyone afks and we need them to pass we could just buy their glass).

Well i dunno what was going on but on the next dreamland run if it still doesnt work ill at least take some pictures this time.

What level is your stormsurge? Are you wearing Errant gear? Once again, is it possible you had an odd piece of gear mistakenly equipped that would have changed your stats slightly.

Keep in mind that stormsurge does not negate all of a negative effect just to get the possitive that stormsurge applies. Errant gear contains substantial negatives to each of the physical related stats.

Test if you like, but I can assure you that you're simply mistaken. Dreamland dienamis was one of the first things I did after getting stormsurge, so it was one of my first testing grounds. Glitches happen, but unless there's something corrupt on the server, you probably won't see the same glitch twice.

Just finished helix merit cap and stormsurge is next to cap with only 2 upgrades left.
So thats a +5 stats cept voidstorm which i think is +3 to all or most stats.

Last sat i did dyna xarca and everything was working fine though that bazaar glass glitch happend to me and someone else again.

Its emergency maintenance now so i cant recall all my gear but yes i use errant houppelande body piece to rest and occasionally use for more potent nukes and cures but even with that piece's -VIT my desert boots should of worked as they do anywhere else.
As for the subjob thing i went in 5 mins later after everyone got their glass so by that time subjobs were already unlocked by the time i got in.

Tonight we do dyna sandy so ill just have to wait for a another dreamland run.

Well i did dyna qufim yesterday and everything worked just fine.
Stats boosted and desert boots worked perfectly.

Dont know what really happend that last time in buburimu.
