I have an issue here with one of my macros and gear swapping.

Particularly my <stpc> macro. Take my Firestorm macro:

/equip Main "Fire Staff"
/ma "Firestorm" <stpc>

The problem with it is that when I blink, it cancels out my <stpc> selection and forces me to click the macro again.

If I swap them to look like this:

/ma "Firestorm" <stpc>
/equip Main "Fire Staff"

Would the benefits of the Fire Staff still kick in even though it's AFTER my <stpc> spell command?

As far as I know Elemental Staves don't do anything for storm spells but a way to fix your macro would be:

/target <stpc>
/equip main "Fire Staff"
/ma Firestorm <lastst>

I use that for my DNC waltz macros and it works.

Elemental staves don't enhance storm spells? Oh. WEll. Yay!

That macro setup you wrote, though, is made of win!!!

Thanks! Smiley: grin

This is how I do it, only I put a /wait inbetween those lines that's long enough to where the gearswap cancels the casting animation.

If you don't have a problem with re-equipping your grip on other spells, I'd recommend using a Conserve MP weapon like a Seveneyes or a Fourth Mace on any spell where you don't need a bonus from an elemental staff (assuming you have the room in your inventory for such a piece of gear).

As a general rule, these are the things that need to be equipped before casting starts:

1) Fastcast enhancements (AF Feet, Relic Hat, Loq. Earring, Warlock Mantle when /rdm) unless using Celerity/Alacrity (then, Relic feet when weather applies).

Everything else just needs to be before the spell actually fires - but if you can pull off all that fastcast gear, anything with a cast time less than ~3 seconds will need the equips swapped to "Casting" set right away, within the next second after casting starts to make sure you get the stats you're after.

Besides, Storm spells are targetable to party members only, so you'll be best served by <stpt>.

RDM can attain an almost static 50% reduction to recast time, SCH can over shoot this for a total of 60% reduction under Alacrity (provided you are wearing loafers and keeping dark weather on yourself)

MACC is a joke, any job with access to mage gear can hit close the MACC cap on legion mobs, which is why my BRD/RDM can land slow/para/blind despite having only 150 skill (from /RDM.)
