What do SCHs expect to do in a party?Follow

So let's say you're sitting around Looking For Party. What do you expect to be asked to do when an invite comes? Main healer?

If you play this job expecting to main heal, you are being realistic. Honestly, main healing with SCH is very easy and I really enjoy it.

Main healing is what every sch should do in almost every situation,meripo too.
Until sch gets new (and decent) nuking gear.

Strongly disagree. SCH is a very capable nuker with the gear we have available and only looks to get better. Versatility is the key. SCH do have as many nuking situations as healign. However, no1 gets party invites to nuke its not efficient. So expect to mainheal in any party situation.

Expectations after the WHM update, any thoughts? I hope SCH gets something good like lets say Helices II? I know what will happen if I say "Haste please" lol.

SCH can activate their elemental obis at a whim, have some DoT that deal heavy damage over time (meaning less hate generation), and have job abilities that reduce the costs and casting time of nukes. It doesn't need any help with nuking in and of itself. What is wrong is SE poo pooing on nuking in general in this game.

Don't forget paralyze and slow, please.

At 53, 98% of the time, I have main healed in parties to this point.
Usually they request main healing and toss out a few enfeebs (slow, para).
If I see the party consistently doing a SC, and I am not being strapped for MP, I will usually burst on that as well.
Coming from a SMN, and WHM background - I love main healing in parties as SCH. It is incredibly effecient, and has a lot of options available to make the healing capabilites as good or better than a WHM of the same level.

On almost all my parties from 40 and onward I was asked to heal.

However; 95% of the time I would end up nuking because either SCH is way to efficient, or the party wasn't taking enough damage to justify me staying in Light Arts.

The only time this stopped was when we reached the second tier Colibri's (The ones that mimic). I pretty much soloed/campaigned my way trough that.
It is just way too boring to do a buff every minute and twiddle my thumbs in between.

I had this same problem recently, and did not know what do to. I'm only 16SCH. I was invited to a pt that already had a WHM. The WHM was not keeping up with the healing, it's like she wasn't paying attention, so I ended up main healing. Then they brought in a pl, and I didn't know what to do at that point. Questions to the pt were not answered. Should I have switched to Dark Arts and started nuking?

No no... that 5% is form the BLM wanting to prove to himself (and his shell through ls chat) that he indeed can and will always out nuke a SCH XD

1-52: I solo'd the majority, but the rare occasion I would take a PT invite, I would inform them that I would not main heal. If I was taking their PT invite, odds are I was going to be taking an EXP/hr cut.

52-60: I took PT invites as both nuker and healer. Nuking in a PT 52-60 will make you look somewhat impotent unless you have someone parsing the whole PT and you're smart about it. People expect AM type damage at these levels and SCH just doesn't nuke that way.

60-65: I didn't nuke in PTs and I began soloing again for most of this as I was finally beyond the dry spell where there isn't a SCH friendly camp.

65-73: I didn't take any PTs whatsoever. Solo EXP was just too good at these levels. <3 rats.

73-75: Meripo healing nets the best EXP/hr period. No nuking. No enfeebling. Just buff and occasionally cure. <3 30k/hr. I join manaburn PTs when they're offered to me. I solo when I feel the urge. I campaign a lot as I'm working on full cobra for my DNC and PUP *3/4 atm.

Alex. Over at KI, you posted about your nuking impotence. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, but just because your numbers aren't worth it, doesn't mean all SCHs are. Find a veteran BLM *4 years+ of experience* on your server that can give you some serious tips about what you can do to help your numbers. Go w/ him to duo puddings and let him tweak your gear as you go. There's no reason to blame the job, however, for your lack of performance. *I'm not intending this to be mean or offensive in any way.*
