I hit post by mistake. Still working on how to put all the gear together. Unfortunately I can only create 6 characters per account here so still working!!!!

I have taken a high interest in scholar and while looking around this forum I haven't seen anything about different gear sets.

So, I decided to look at all the gear that scholar can wear and put something together. In the following sets, I didn't take in consideration race and special events like gear that only works in campaign or has a latent effect that won't work in other expansions. Also, some of the pieces are hard to get or very expensive.

I hope this at least shows where the potential is. Also,on a side note, the ffxiclopedia site doesn't have the right base for mp/stats/hp so don't look at the total value.

This is MP Set.

As you can see the above set will give you at least 503 MP plus depending on the race or sub job you can bump that up. You can also add another 90 MP by eating one of the following food:

** Squirrel's Delight (90)
** Vermillion Jelly (90)
** Bijou Glace (90)

Total MP: 593 and up.

This is the max Int set.

The database in the game is apparently missing tortoise shield which would give you a total of +78 int. This set up doesn't necessarily mean the best, it just gives you an idea where the max you can get is at. Of course again some pieces are hard to obtain or very expensive.

You can also add another 14 intelligence with fully merited hailstorm and by eating the following food:

** Cream Puff

Total Int: + 92

The Magic Attack Bonus Set!

On the set above, I have left out staves because if I am not mistaken they don't give MAB but actually Magic Dmg Bonus. Also, no food that we know of gives MAB.

Total MAB= 67

The next are all skill sets

Enfeebling Set!
Elemental Set!
Enhancing Set!

Ok, the sets above show where you can get the most out of the magic skill. For enfeebling the site doesn't have thanatos baselard under scholar so I couldn't put it. Also, on elemental I choose seveneyes for weapon because it doesn't have any element to it. As will all those sets, the amount of skill you get will depend on your choice of arts.

Total Enfeebling= +52
Total Elemental= + 59 or 62 (Depends if using Aquilo's Staff)
Total Enhancing= +37

edit: Coming soon Magic Accuracy set, mind set and mp while healing set.

I can assure you that an MP set is pretty much useless for a SCH. With sublimation and our MP conservation, there is little need for a ton of MP to start off with.

As far as nuking goes, you probably won't want strat MAB. INT plays a big role in nuking damage. INT's role is exagerrated moreso as you gain more MAB because of the diminishing returns MAB offers, and that the MAB in turn emphasizes the INT's bonus. For a max damage build, it's best to find a good balance between the 2.

I disagree. Accession buffs and reraise 2 eat up a lot of MP at the start of a battle if you're in charge of healing a party (such as me in Nyzul). I find the max MP gear invaluable, especially in a place like Nyzul where you're not entering with a charged up Sublimation.

The reason I am putting these up is so you can look at things and decide for yourself what piece of gear you want to get or not.

Of course none of these sets are a must have because the way they are set up they will be very situational.

My point is you look at it and see if there's a potential there.

I myself don't have a full mp set and sometimes (very rarely) I do wish I had because I don't like resting and some DDs love draining 600 mp in 1 min (had it happened numeral times).

This isn't a "you have to have these sets". You can look at each and decide for yourself which would be better each slot.

SCH can use Genie Gages in their hands slot, making it +8 instead of Patrician's Cuffs'+6.

Why not just use http://myffxigear.kicks-ass.org/
It has just about all the options SCH would ever need for gear and even gives alternatives. Only problem with it is that it will put a cloak in the body slot while giving a head slot but that can be changed manually.

I guess we can delete this one. I had no idea a site like that even existed.

Thank You for posting that site. I will try it out and see how it is.

edit: I actually just tried that site by going int only and it might just be me but it didn't give the max you can get in each slot. It actually didn't give max you could get in a lot of slots. It basically just gave some of the gear you could use in that slot and a lot of the pieces, including the highest int ones, were missing.

That website is nice to find options for certain stat boosts etc, but it is nice to see actual sets that people use like the OP was getting at. While none of these sets are ever going to be realistic, it is somewhere to start. You will never use an all MP set, with the exception of possibly the first minute of Nyzul Assault. Instead you will balance good MP gear with enmity down gear for healing/buffgas/-na spells. You will never use an all INT set with the exception of possibly nuking Kirin, or really an all MAB skill gear either. Instead you will use a combination of INT and MAB to max your damage.

Carl, in the interest of helping people see what actual SCH wear, you could list some actual gear sets rather than focusing on an entire stat or skill. Possibly like a Helix set (which is a combination of INT and MAB where it trumps INT such as earring slots), enfeebling gear sets, or Healing set focused on enmity down/mp/conserve mp, or possible resist setups for nuking HNM and higher tier NMs. While knowing all the options is nice for scholar's looking to improve their sets, having items such as seven-eyes for ele skill set or fourth mace for healing isnt really a good suggestion because they simply do not offer what the elemental staves can.

I agree which is why i never bothered posting the link in the topic about being able to hit a 320/120 build for HNMS which hellbringerx and i went around bouncing different variations to see how to push towards 320/120 while not limiting SCH to say just Ice Spells. But what the OP was doing was just posting the highest amounts of a given stat which the website does for you already.

I would love to see a compilation of the mixed sets we would use for given situations. Like say a 320/120 build, an enhancing/MND build for Phalanx/SS, -Emnity/Refresh build for healing. a Thread with those gears would be awesome but one with the max of one given stat well the website already does that.

Here's an Enhancing/MND set I'm actually going to start working towards for tank PTs. I added some extra gear to see what max amount would be but not all of it is needed. Something like this I think would be better for reference.

Kirin's Pole
Raptor Strap +1
Goliard Chapeau/Argute Mortarboard
Enhancing Torque
Geist Earring
Augmenting Earring
Argute Gown
Devotee's Mitts +1
Aqua Ring x2
Merciful Cape
Penitent's Rope
Scholar's Pants +1
Mahatma Pigaches

Enhancing +37
MND +43

Enhancing Skill: 256 + 37 = 293
MND: 65 + 43 = 108

This gives you:
Phalanx: 27
Stoneskin: 350 (only need 83MND to cap so can remove up to 25MND)
Enspell: 19 (assuming no day/weather bonus)
