Well, due to some needed pop items for the LS, and the leader requesting members to bring them in for bonus points, I figured I'd see what scholar could do solo.
The turn out: 2 Gem of the West, 2 Diorites > 2 Autumnstones,
#1. Gem of the West: Started off soloing sky pop items a while back when i first started trying to get zenith mitta -1 uncursed. During that time I tried doing Despot while waiting for respawn timers. After a few kills of the guardians, I got Despot, and was able to kite > nuke/helix/bioII somewhat like a rdm would. The second time I went back, I brought an LS member with me to speed it up.
#2. Diorite: Easy enough, this is more or less just an old xp/merit camp. Much like doing wamoura princes or Puddings, you just pull > grav > helix > nuke till dead. Eventually yielding two Diorite drops.
#3. Autumnstones: The first Autumnstone was done with myself on sch, another sch, and a blm. This was for me just to get familiar with the moves, tp attacks, timing when i could cast certain spells if soloing, and to also, more importantly, see if it was even possible.
#4. Autumstones (solo attempt): Luckily upon arriving to camp, the statues were for some reason spread out away from the tele side of the hall. So I went ahead and ran into pop Ulli. From there the fight was mostly just using gravity and bind to subdue him when able. Once subdued, my normal routine was aspir > bio II > helix/nuke. He spams Heavy Strik alot if you let him get close enough, but you can run away before it lands and it will say "xxxx is too far away." When that is said, was usually when I would bind him. When he casted banishga III is when I would usually reput up stoneskin or bind/grav if i needed to.
Like a dumb ass that I am, I forgot that it had been a while since i put up a fresh RR, so of course my RR goes down in mid fight. I ended up having to bind > gravity > Enlightenment > Reraise II. This got to be a hectic moment because I found myself slammed by a Heavy Strike, which put me down in the red. I hadn't restarted sublimation yet, and now couldn't, and my mp was in the very very low teens. Luckily Vermy was available, and i slowly but surely made my way back up in mp to aspir > drain > sublimation, then continue progressing through the fight.
At around 40-50% I saw that Gravities were becoming more and more resistant, and when they did stick, it only lasted a few seconds, so at this point, i only relied on bind for the most part. I would still stick gravity on occastionally in hopes of it lasting if I was vulnerable. In the end I kept to parsimony > helix, consistant aspirs, bio II, drains, binds, gravities, and parsimony > Blizz IV's and everything worked out quite well.
So anyways, to conclude, Sch's do have the capability and CAN solo the pop items for Byakko. Soloing Byakko, however, may not be on sch's to do lists. I hope that gives new inspiration to sch's that could make use of farming these pops whether its for gil, helping your LS, bonus points, or just for the self-accomplishment. Good luck fellow Sch's ^.^
