Sch solo Byakko Pop ItemsFollow

Well, due to some needed pop items for the LS, and the leader requesting members to bring them in for bonus points, I figured I'd see what scholar could do solo.

The turn out: 2 Gem of the West, 2 Diorites > 2 Autumnstones,

#1. Gem of the West: Started off soloing sky pop items a while back when i first started trying to get zenith mitta -1 uncursed. During that time I tried doing Despot while waiting for respawn timers. After a few kills of the guardians, I got Despot, and was able to kite > nuke/helix/bioII somewhat like a rdm would. The second time I went back, I brought an LS member with me to speed it up.

#2. Diorite: Easy enough, this is more or less just an old xp/merit camp. Much like doing wamoura princes or Puddings, you just pull > grav > helix > nuke till dead. Eventually yielding two Diorite drops.

#3. Autumnstones: The first Autumnstone was done with myself on sch, another sch, and a blm. This was for me just to get familiar with the moves, tp attacks, timing when i could cast certain spells if soloing, and to also, more importantly, see if it was even possible.

#4. Autumstones (solo attempt): Luckily upon arriving to camp, the statues were for some reason spread out away from the tele side of the hall. So I went ahead and ran into pop Ulli. From there the fight was mostly just using gravity and bind to subdue him when able. Once subdued, my normal routine was aspir > bio II > helix/nuke. He spams Heavy Strik alot if you let him get close enough, but you can run away before it lands and it will say "xxxx is too far away." When that is said, was usually when I would bind him. When he casted banishga III is when I would usually reput up stoneskin or bind/grav if i needed to.

Like a dumb *** that I am, I forgot that it had been a while since i put up a fresh RR, so of course my RR goes down in mid fight. I ended up having to bind > gravity > Enlightenment > Reraise II. This got to be a hectic moment because I found myself slammed by a Heavy Strike, which put me down in the red. I hadn't restarted sublimation yet, and now couldn't, and my mp was in the very very low teens. Luckily Vermy was available, and i slowly but surely made my way back up in mp to aspir > drain > sublimation, then continue progressing through the fight.

At around 40-50% I saw that Gravities were becoming more and more resistant, and when they did stick, it only lasted a few seconds, so at this point, i only relied on bind for the most part. I would still stick gravity on occastionally in hopes of it lasting if I was vulnerable. In the end I kept to parsimony > helix, consistant aspirs, bio II, drains, binds, gravities, and parsimony > Blizz IV's and everything worked out quite well.

So anyways, to conclude, Sch's do have the capability and CAN solo the pop items for Byakko. Soloing Byakko, however, may not be on sch's to do lists. I hope that gives new inspiration to sch's that could make use of farming these pops whether its for gil, helping your LS, bonus points, or just for the self-accomplishment. Good luck fellow Sch's ^.^

Wow great post!

I just got sch's relic feet and I've been wanting to do more broken things with my SCH. Soloing Byakko and low manning him might be a fun way to do things.

Very nice. I've wondered if Ulli can be solo'd but don't have the nerve to risk a diorite. Do you know how long the fight lasted overall?

Definitely definitely lol. I'll get some put up on photobucket it and tag em here. Something tells me that i won't be able to solo byakko though lololol. Then again, the same was said about soloing half the sh*t in the game back in the day that we can now so... who knows. Maybe.

I'd have to double check my screenshots but iirc i'd guesstimate ~15 mins or so, maybe 20.

I was too to be humbly honest. The first time I did it, was with another sch, and a 57ish blm (just watching/learning). So that I had a safety net and could learn what to expect. Once you do that, you'll have the knowledge base and experience to take the reigns up to do it on your own ^.^ Good luck!

Hey Naobi,

Not quite finished all my merits but im looking at 296 enfeeb and 319 ele skill, measily 90int total. 4/5 sublimation(303mp) and 2/5 helix...
Did a test run with a pld and rdm friend the other day. Rdm let me attempt at soloing it before joining in. took it to about 75% when i finally said join cuz I didnt see any foreseeable problems and we should just kill it.

Anyways.. on to my question. do you bother silencing it? Or leave it be? I kept it silenced at first but stopped doing it for w/e reason and his banishga3 was only doing about 300-500. enough to interupt sublimation but not enough to make me worry. I figure that time hes casting opens me up more time to land bind/grav/dot/nuke, also to mention i mite get lucky with a flash or diaga.
Did you do it this way? Or did you try to keep him silenced?

any other suggestion before i attempt to solo would be awesome, or sch advice in general ^_^

Sorry that i didn't notice your post here earlier and it taking so long for me to reply. No I didn't bother keeping him silenced at all. If i just so happened to be at a decent spot and safe zone for me to cast silence AS he started casting banishga, then i'd do it just to prevent the hassle of reapplying skin or getting that lost hp back. But honestly, I didn't even bother. That's really sloppiness on my part though. I would say that if you can pull off a silence as he's casting it, then go for it. I wouldn't go so far as to actually keep silence up on him full time though.

The only other advice i really have, is to always keep in mind that you can "force" him into Heavy Strike, which is practically like a blm casting stun on him (if you can get away from the tp move in time). This allows you perfect open opportunity to land a bind, grav, aspir, drain, or w/e it is that you need to get you back into your comfort zone. As long as you keep that in mind, keep your distance, and don't get greedy with your nukes or other spells, then honestly, this fight is a walk in the park. I'd even be so bold as to say you could do this fight at lvl 60-65.... it would just take a hella long time lol.

EDIT: PS, I'm still more than willing to put up the screenshots for this fight... however I'm a nooblet when it comes to getting photobucket pics on here without giving someone the keys to access my full albums ; ; So if anyone would like to fill me in, please PM me.

You can either direct link them or you can make a separate album and toss them in there, then give access to just that album.

So, ive duo'd and trio'd this plenty of times now, though i sorta wanna branch off from them eventually in hopes of increasing the amount i make. A far as dmg goes, Parsimony for Bliz4(800dmg) and for Cryohelix(6-130). i try to stay away from helix' right now because i tend to get weird resists sometimes. toss bio2 on as well. also with parsimony if the Gems allow it.

319 ele skill(using ice set up)
301 enfeeb
70+24 Int(also in ice set up)
823mp in dark arts.
312 sublimation storage.

I know my Int is a lil low, but more int would greatly reduce my overall mp. which eventually have to do..

though i get resists on helix' im content with the dmg done with Bliz(regardless that it can be better), my real concern is the amount of bind/grav resists i get.
fortunately its within the safety of a pt so its not a huge deal. But im worried as solo, that those resists could cost me the fight, and thats my big worry is that I dont want to needless waste the farming time i invested on Diorite, for a failed run.

wat do you have your enfeeb skill at, do you resist often?
In any case, any suggestions on sch improvement would be great, as well as more specific tips for the fight. The only thing that i think makes me feel safe to start casting, is when Ulli himself is casting. other wise i dont see much success ><

My first question is: Are you using the same gear setup for your helices as you are your nukes? If not, try that. I tend to do that and have very little issues landing good helices. My enfeebling skill on sch is 310 atm. Yes I get quite a few resists, mainly in the later part of the fight, but really it shouldn't make too much of a difference in the fight itself, just how long it lasts for.

Here's some tips that might help with the fight to help negate the issue of your resists:

1. I "force" Ulli into "Heavy Strike" somewhere in the vacinity of the staircase that points towards the hall. You have a lot of distance there, and the stairs protrude enough to give you even more space since he has to take the long way around them a bit. So I force him into the TP move, run away for a few steps, and attempt a bind or a gravity. If it resists, no big deal, just keep running and try again on the next rotation.

2. I understand your want and issue for your mp build. However, once the initial MP from your gear is used up, swap to full dmg as you no longer reap the benefits of said mp gear.

3. Next, i know you say you're straying away from your helices atm because of the issues you're having with resists. My advice is just to swallow it, and deal with it best you can, but KEEP USING THEM. Those are your big tickets to making this fight easier and faster for you. The fight is pure endurance, so you'll need to be making nothing but mp conservative moves. I usually use parsimony + ebullience + Cryohelix on him personally. Sure i toss a couple blizz spells here and there, but only when the time is right, and when i know i have a good chunk of mp.

PS, don't forget those aspirs!! ^,^ and GL!
