Looks like I still will be using my Yigit gear. Sch AF has alot of neat stuff but on it but just putting it in a macro is the best use for it.

Return to Erlene for you reward: Scholar's Bracers


Quest 3: Seeing Blood-red - AF Head - Scholar's Mortarboard
Wait one game day after completing Downward Helix. Talk to Erlene to begin the quest.
Travel back to the Indescript Markings at E-11 of Pashhow (s) that you went to in On Sabbitical.
Go to Eldieme (s) and talk to Erlene
READ THE LETTER IN YOUR KEY ITEMS
Talk to Erlene AGAIN
Go to Grauberg and check the E-10 blank spot
Check Indescript markings for bcnm*.
After BCNM return to Erlene for your Reward: Scholar's Mortarboard

* There is no exit in bcnm. If you think you might lose and warp,tele out you will lose key item and you will need to go back and get another.

* The guy in the bcnm is a lvl 75 sch/blm. He uses everything a lvl 75 sch can but also has some blackmagic spells.(he casted stonega III on me). His main attacks are magical and can dish out major damage with it (tier 4 spells hit me for 850) If you can stun his magic he is cake. He is weak to physical attacks. Two blackmages nuking full out will only take him down 50% before they run out of mp.

* This is a Key item.
* The indescript marking for crafted pieces is confirmed to be on 15 min timer. It is also confirmed to have multiple pop points. The peist dung pops in 3 different spots. All three are around a cluster of Peist.

A single Scholar waits inside. Apparently he can be stun'd pretty easy by a 75 BLU, and the fight can be DUO'd >.>

(I haven't done it myself, this is what my LS has told me)

ok, so I flagged the quest for the body and head out to pashlow marshlands - is the key item a ??? or do you need to kill the mobs for the drop? I wandered all around J-10 and there is no ??? to be found.

It doesn't say so, it does say whoever is in your party will be transfered there. So i would assume that anyone can go in much like the other AF fights.


As for the AF fight itself. It's a since SCH like the posters above said. Stun? Yes he doesn't like that spell. I duo'ed it no problem with a RDM and me as SMN/SCH. Used Ramuh when he had shell / protect off? He would do about 1.5k that was the finishing blow to the guy.

Take in a good RDM, and you're good to go. Dispeller also besides the RDM I would recommend only because the guy buffs himself so much. Uses Lv.3 Nukes a lot, Drain and such. Shouldn't be a problem for two Lv75's. He'll use Storm spells and basically cast on that. Rainstorm..he'd hit us with Water III and such. He will use the SCH 2hr and start doing multiple JA's

Oh and he loves to Cure IV himself.

Oh, by the way I got a question. I'm on the SCH AF pants, into the Pashhow. ButI can't seem to find the ??? needed for the quest. I've ran up and down the north marsh of the map for at least an hour, nothing.

Is there different spawn points? Or a timer after it's clicked that it stays away? It was getting to me so i signed off for the moment..plan on going back later finishing my AF.

Just soloed him as SMN/WHM. It took me about 20 minutes. I could have killed him faster but I played it a bit cautious at the beginning. THE BC area is huge, so kiting is no problem. There is actually enough space to release, summon spirit, siphon, release and summon avatar. That kept my MP nice and healthy. Just keep blink up to absorb absorb any spells that he may get off on you and you're set!

i have a question aswell
i am trying to get the body piece but cant for the life of me find the **** markings i need
ive searched all over the southern part of the zone and cant find anything

im wondering if the markings are all popped durring certain weathers kinda like the other markings for body piece in that zone that starts with a g
which is only up on wind weather
anyone know about the markings in pashow?

These friggin marks in Pashow Marshlands are rediculous. I figured out that the one for the scholar coat and legs have 3 different pop spots and they are are on a 15 min repop timer. With so many people looking for scholar artifacts at the same time chances are that you will be there along time. Spent 3 hours there today and nothing to show for it except a migrane from watching all these scholars run by me and get there item and leave within 10 mins while I remain in the swamp getting rained on. It just sucks.

So far the things i've noticed while getting the few key items is that the markings seem to pop around the group of the mobs. The dung, the dijinn's. all in a group of those mobs. Normal weather it sprung but not during Thunder (for the Dijinn's.) so far (4 hours in) have yet to see the Mucus pop.. but it's been nothing but onstnat thunder / water weather the entire time

So so far the wiki for the Dijinn's is right. you can camp it safely behind the gate and wait for it to spawn D-11 in the fire pit where they circle around, same with the Dung in Pashhow, go towards the bottom of where it says, you'll see a group of those dragon-like mobs, you can sit and camp it out of distance. I just waited..rather than run around.

well i finally got my items for the body piece
thank god im not interested int the legs, feet, or bracers
the hat and body are good for me, im gonna focus on damage dealing gear,
ive been a smn main healer for ages now so extra light arts and mnd are not of interest to me

For the Mucus? I've had people say

H-7 I-6 J-6

K-5 - Just saw it, ran to it and I hit my /heal button by accident..some **** blm came in and took it. Anyways K-6 When you first zone in going down the pathway, look to your west, you'll see two large hills sticking out and between them a small mound, on that mound? is where it spawns. No weather was up. Ice day.

2nd Marking Found in K-5 On the opposite side of where the other one was at. Maybe it's just random? Same thing on a little mound behind a large bolder just a little south east, right where some quads and slugs are.

This is evil..so many sch's. All hauling **** around the Marshlands for slug spit!!

I'm not doing this to ***** people up haha b/c I want my fricken leg AF. Still from what I've noticed from other places is that they do spawn in a "crowded" or at least well populated area of the mobs itself.

So if you go around and see a chunk full of slugs wondering around? Camp it..might get lucky.

Rather than posting a brand new thread..i figure I'd ask my question here.

I camped the Mucus..got it after an hour. Now I'm on the feet. I went to E-7 nothing so I knew that maybe it was at other points so I went wiki up and it gave me this..

It's the dorgarogan spine. The big white thing that bisects the zone. It's on the south side of it in E-7.

I've been trying to find the dreamspit for so long now I'm losing my mind. There are apparently half a dozen spawn points, I don't know what I'm looking for, really, and I'm finding nothing at all. Please, please help. O.o

I'm not certain, but it is likely that it can pop at any of this locations.

Several of those locations only have one mob, which make it less likely. I would suggest checking the area with the most mobs [the (I-10) to (H-8) area may be best] before looking at the other locations. Be patient, as other Scholars may be there getting the item, too.

Thank you for the bit of a head's up. I've ran the map a few times, and have decided to resign myself to hanging out in those areas, just cause I'm sick of the movement in combination of sneaking and invisibling myself nine thousand times. :)

Finally got all my AF. Been a long and frustrating road that could have been much easier if I had known a few things:
1.If you are not aligned with Bastok{s} it will help you alot to set your homepoint there. Gonna be going back and forth ALOT.
2.For sch af3 (hat one) remember to READ THE LETTER AND TALK TO ERLENE BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT TO THE BCNM. You need to get a key item from her in order to access bcnm.
3.The guy in the bcnm is a lvl 75 sch/blm. He uses everything a lvl 75 sch can but also has some blackmagic spells.(he casted stonega III on me). His main attacks are magical and can dish out major damage with it (tier 4 spells hit me for 850) If you can stun his magic he is cake. He is weak to physical attacks. Two blackmages nuking full out will only take him down 50% before they run out of mp.

Can you get the key items as another job, or do you have to be SCH? Being able to do this as BLM and Sleepga II the mobs would make it a lot easier.

You can get the key items from the Indescript Markings on any job, I've been doing it on Red Mage.

I've done the Scholar's Mortarboard 3 times. Once I tried to solo it as RDM/NIN and i got it to 50% health and wiped. Second time i wanted to make sure i beat the NM, so i called on a few friends. The BCNM is a 6/6 fight. We tried to get get an alliance in there but the max. amount of ppl that you can have in the BCNM is 6. On the third time i tried this i duoed it as myself RDM/NIN and (with a buddy that needed it) as SMN/WHM both of us were lvl 75. With the duo we easily defeat the BCNM. The NM likes to AoE magic alot then he must chainspell or something because he spammed magic like crazy. But with Stoneskin and phalanx it didn't really cause a problem. Hope this helps but i wouldn't try soloing it.

Thats sooo like everywhere.

So whats the verdict?

Coffer or $$$Craft Items once a day or Hunting for **** in Pashnow?

WHats the best way to get af?
