Scholar AF and 40 WeaponFollow

Then let us speculate about the weapon!

I think it would be really funny if the AF "Weapon" was a ranged item that looked like a book and gave some minor bonus to the job.

Most likely a wand with +1 INT and MND, and maybe +10 MP. Atleast, going by the trend of useless AF weapons..

Ideally: A staff or wand with +5 INT and/or MND and +20ish MP.

Course, I'd still prefer to use a High Mana Wand.. but atleast the suggestion has *some* use.

I remain hopeful that it'll be a "book" that goes in the ranged slot or something that a little thought was put into.

Although yes, it will probably be a club that'll be borderline (if not completely) useless and 100% outclassed by the elemental staves at 51+

They should give us AF already because i'm 61 and no AF to look forward to. /anon i look like any other mage, except when i cast storms and helixes.

I thought it was easy to understand but i guess not.

They will not put the af of scholar and dancer in the game until they see how the player base uses it. Do your really want af like the useless af of 90% of the jobs who first jobs did?

No.

We want useful af, like corsair, and blu got. Stuff that helps us do what it is we need to do.

No comment to the level 60's already.

The reason why it's left out is because SE probably doesn't have an idea as to what the final stats of the AF will be. Also, the dats are in the game but they are nothing more than blank pallets that give what the defense stats are and nothing more.

All they have to do is just add what the stats are to the items instead of having to create it later on, as well as adjust the level of said items. They aren't being lazy, and besides, the AF will probalby come out in the January patch.

And the idea about the book (can't be thrown) in the ranged slot for AF weapon could be a possibility.

These are similar enough. AF really isn't that hard to make honestly. I mean I guess they might be worried about some radical change like nin but really sch af to be useful, int, mnd, mp, and casting skills. They know how mages work, they know their own equation, etc. They leave so much stuff out just to give themselves things to patch. All I'm saying is they could put a little more effort into just getting at least AF out with a job, really taou jobs are STILL missing jse and relic, and af+1, do we even have a merit category yet I havn't looked?

I mean don't get wrong square did a good job making these classes and stuff but they could put some more effort into adding the things we really want instead of stuff like the nearly worthless abj. sets they added in toau. I just find it hard to believe they have this much trouble comming up with jse, af, and relic, and they're not intentionally withholding it.

you mean like the turbo animator? that "works better than the regular animator" by giving us dex +2? XD

i can see SE doing that to sch...

Seriously, an AF wand (baton?) of some kind sounds like a likely winner.

i agree with what most are saying about se waiting on af. they want to see how sch fits into a pt. especially 61+.

for example, when RoZ was released they added NIN with original intents of a melee DD. some on thought with all those shadows, i bet i can tank. so nin became a tank, and ppl completly ga up on war tankers.

whn blu was released there were many discussion on blu tank. with high def from cocoon, and the theory was to 'stun' tank with all the stun spells they ave. this was shut down as you would need unlimited mp to pull it off, or just masive downtime.

The problem I have is if it was just AF I'd agree they're probably seeing how things develope. What gets me is for toau they've yet to add jse, relic, relic custom, af +1, etc. Despite that though they have time to add abj. sets that are harder to obtain and much less effective than other pieces of armor that already exist. Until they got homam set drg's armor selection was a joke. Much of hte armor they add in general is useless.

Basically it's just hard to accept that they're taking a wait and see approach given their past record.

I guess SCH AF1 will probably be some kind of staff with small boosts to INT and MND, like the Fencing Degen, but what I'd like to see is the Grimoire as a grip/shield so regardless of what weapon type you're using you can have it equipped in the sub slot, and then have it give some small but useful bonus (to be fair I'd be happy with the stats on the Fencing Degen in that slot).

I was thinking about the AF a lot for SCH and was wondering what they could make the stats like, I might be the only one here, but personally, I am not finding the weather spells to be very useful. I cast light on whm's, ice maybe on blm's depending on what he is casting, but the damage or curing that they do is not a noticeable difference at all. going off topic there but my point is, how about the AF gear has things like... Head gear gives refresh effect when in dark weather, Body gives Regen effect when in light weather etc etc for other parts.....you can agree or disagee but this is just my idea which i thought would be useful in most ways and give the weather effect spells more of personal use.

I have a feeling the Scholar AF weapon is the same one all Scholars are wearing when you go to see them. Gold with a hilt and a horseshoe at the top encrusted with jewels. Ok not a good description, but take a look at the Scholar in Bastok who appears at night opposite the Metalworks door or Layton in Necro. They all have the same weapon. I'e not been to Sandy or Windy in the past but I have a feeling the same weapon would be there.

Turbo Animator is nothing to complain about.
It's probably the best AF weapon.
Sure, DEX+2 doesn't do much, but at least it's something.

Look at the rest of them: either they're 100% useless (Casting Wand) or they're good for a couple of levels (most melee AF weapons) and quickly made obsolete.
An INT+2 Ranged/Ammo "Book" would be a lot better than say, Casting WandII.
Easily replaces Morion Tathlum, lasts until Phantom.

Perhaps doesn't outright replace phantom but all things considered you could use it over phantom cuase you'd only lose 10 mp. With the price of phantom that's a trade off I'd consider if I didn't already have one.

Hopefully we get the information for the update day soon. I sat at 51/53 for a month. I'm at 59 now. I didn't want to level past AF, but I didn't want to not level.

ok so honestly i keep seeing posts about this and it has lured me into speculation so here is my thoughts

i figure with the current set up of Scholar being defined by its sub job the AF will look a little something like this seeing as tho /rdm and /blm seem to be the most popular amungst people

AF effects,
AF WEP: +20 MP +1 INT

AF Hat: Enhances Light Arts & Dark Arts effect
Enhances Fast Cast effect (maybe very unliky tho)+3 INT

AF Body: Enhances Weather affect
+10 enfeebling magic skill
+10 enhancing magic skill
Enhances Regen effect

AF Gloves: +10 Elemental Magic Skill

AF Pants: +4 MND +10 Healing Magic Skill
-5% Spell interruption rate

AF Feet: Enhances Helix Spell's Effect
+10 Dark Magic Skill +10 Divine Magic skill

Let me know what you all think ^^ i know their is probably typo's but im tired ill fix when i have time
