A New ChallengeFollow

After seeing Rog post about soloing NMs blindfolded, I figure he (and others) may be looking for a new challenge. Well, I saw this in the legendary stickies today, and it sparked an idea:

What else can I do with a pebble?

Well, some jobs are lucky enough to actually use pebbles in combat (or unlucky- Do you really want to be literally THROWING THESE BEAUTIES AWAY?). These jobs are Bard, Beastmaster, Black Mage, Dark Knight, Dragoon, Monk, Ninja, Ranger, Summoner, Thief, Warrior, White Mage.

Pebbles have a base damage of 5 and a delay of 276. Sure, it's not spectacular, but you can theoritically kill a lvl 75 monster only using pebbles, if you had a couple days to play, a group to heal you, are playing a tanking job, and have someone bring you extra stacks of pebbles. NOT BAD FOR A WEAPON YOU CAN EQUIP AT LVL 1!!!!

Obviously this guy was joking, but I think it would be pretty funny to see someone solo a high-level mob (or even an NM) where the only source of damage is repeated blows with pebbles (and YES THAT MEANS NO DoTs ALLOWED).

Now, please note that this is a bit off topic for the Red Mage forum because the job cannot actually equip pebbles (it is WAR/MNK/WHM/BLM/THF/DRK/BST/BRD/RNG/NIN/DRG/SMN only). But I do know that this forum is full of "I-just-soloed-X-really-hard-thing" enthusiasts.

So here's the challenge, if ye be interested: What's the meanest mob that you can solo using only pebbles to kill it? Would love to see some vids or screenshots of the inevitably hilarious adventures.

I'm going to start with some low-level lizzies in the Dunes or something on Ninja and see what happens from there!

Well...

Lets assume you bring 40 items with you to survive and 13 pieces of racc gear. That leaves 107 stacks of pebbles. 107*12=1284 pebbles. Lets assume you land 80% of them, for an average of 6 damage each. That's 6163 total damage. So yeah, you couldn't kill almost any nms.

Theoretically, there would be no such limit of 107 stacks of pebbles, but rather a limit of 107 Pellet Belts, each of which holds 24 stacks of pellets. And yes, they have a reuse timer of one hour, but you have more than one of them, so you could stagger the uses and thus never have to wait for a stack of pebbles. So using Rog's math, you could do more than 100,000 damage total.

I figured someone would get excited about this, but I guess maybe it's just a stupid idea anyways. *Shuts his mouth for the next five days*

Bah, in that case you could kill anything with no regen, that you could average more than .5~1 damage per pebble.

In the eyes of "PebbleEnthusiast", bringing a bazaar bitch to grab pebbles from is A-OK as far as soloing something goes.

But yeah, foregoing that and simply using Pebble Belts would totally get you more hot chicks.

You aren't kidding. I'm actually 1/3 on drops for Hot Chick while wearing a pebble belt, where I've heard others have had insanely low drop-rates for that great head-piece. It was on firesday, though, so that may have been what caused it.

For some strange reason I am reminded of a WHM trying to solo something...

So wrong since I play WHM/NIN so often as well...
