DNC EVA Gear 40ish and +Follow
Hey DNCers! I'm trying to level my DNC to the cap (current or raised) I really enjoy the job so far, but it's very different from my only 90, Dragoon. In reading more about the job I think the way I want to play is to have a high EVA rating. I was wondering if someone could point me towards a guide from around 40 to Abby (I'm assuming AF3 stuff there?) and anything else that could help keep me in the best (or close to it, gil isn't limitless after all) EVA gear around. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks a bunch!

The real response to this is that evasion gear doesn't really matter until you're 90, because you should grind FoV books against EPs until you're comfortable leeching to 90 in Abyssea, then capping your skills at 90.

Given dancer's high natural evasion rate, even at 90 all I use for evasion gear 99% of the time is 2x evasion kila +2. I have capped evasion, full evasion merits, and full Closed Position merits, but I don't wear evasion gear. Most of the time I use RR/VV/GH atmas.
Now, I also carry a full evasion set to macro into when massive links happen, or when I'm tanking something especially nasty, or need to hold the mobs attention without hitting it because we can't find a proc. I also have Siren Shadow and Cloak & Dagger atmas for those times when I need them (read: hard solo or tanking something hard). I would recommend you carry a full evasion set and get those atmas as well, but you won't use them often.
As for the daggers, I want to say that most of the time on dancer you are soloing or tanking. If you really want to help your dancer, I would suggest 2x evasion kilas +2 and capping and meriting evasion. I am also a huge fan of 5/5 Closed Position. Once I got the daggers, evasion merits, and Closed Position merits and I hit a level far beyond anything I could do before on dancer.
And, off topic, but I personally prefer Cloak & Dagger to Siren Shadow when tanking because it helps land steps. Too often I wind up in full evasion gear, back tanking and spamming Animated Flourish while people redo dirty procs. In all other cases I prefer Siren Shadow to Cloak & Dagger. Once again, 99% of the time I'm using Voracious Violet instead of either of those.

Just to chime in on the lvl 90 evasion thing.
The majority of the time I find myself using only the kila+2 for evasion as well, but that's with full DNC AF+2, so I get a decent chunk of evasion just through gear even if it's not specifically tailored for Evasion.
I also use GH/RR/APOC atma combo most of the time, so the GH's AGI gives me another boost to evasion.
Also, as the person before me listed, I too use max evasion merits and closed position.
Even with all of that though, the point of this post is that I still carry my trusty evasion torque, optical hat, and pink body because the evasion they can grant in a pinch has the potential to give a huge benefit without bringing your offensive stats to a grinding halt.
It's not that I use them all the time, but there are some mobs in particular that I'll throw that stuff on for just to slow the damage intake. For example, some of the monk NMs and Iron Giants go from "pretty hard" to "pretty easy" with a simple addition of 20ish evasion and a few evasion skill on top of my normal setup. It beats having to put on evasion-specific atmas, anyhow ^^
Since you aren't 90 yet though, some of this information might not make sense. Maybe bookmark it and revisit in a month or so.

So after reading this it would seem that you would be in favor of the +EVA Kila instead of the -DMG Kila. I'll assume in your other hand you would (if you could) have the Twilight Knife? Or since I still haven't gotten all my zone wins am I drooling over Twilight stuff that really isn't drool-worthy?

I always trio'd my DNC a little past 40. With around +25+ evasion and some evasion food with either a RDM and a DD combo we could tear through DC-VT and they would hardly ever touch me.

I offhand the twilight when I'm DDing or soloing really easy stuff. On everything else it's 2x evasion kila +3. The real gem of the Shinny drops is the Twilight Belt. The knife is fun, but when the situation turns grim you won't use it, you'll use evasion daggers. This is even more true at 95. The +3 magian daggers pick up more base damage, and base damage is huge on daggers.
The belt has haste, which means more damage and a lower utsu recast which will save your life. The double attack is compatable with saber dance. I can't say enough great things about it. If you have the belt and the atma from Shinny, you could call that fight done for DNC and nobody would question you. If you also have the dagger and DNC is your only job then there is really no reason to go back to that fight at all.

So if you dual wield Kilas with the +20 Eva. (It looks like you can because they aren't rare. You just have to do all of those trials twice... right?) then you have +40 Eva. Assuming you merited it also does that alone make you reach eva cap? Should you at that point start to concentrate on dmg/haste gear? If so, which?
Another question. Since the daggers aren't rare. Can you do the trials for both of them at the same time?
I'm gonna need to get all of the Twilight gear. DRG is my main job, with DNC being a close second favorite.

Unfortunately, you cannot have the same trial active on more than one weapon. You can, however, run both where they overlap (one trial is any monster, another is beasts). Still, wind daggers are easy to make, just be aware of what months you get wind weather in which ToAU zones and it's a snap.
Get haste, imo. It's more tp and a lower utsu recast.
And yeah, 40 evasion and 20 agility is pretty much enough evasion in all but the most extreme circumstances. There's a nice chunk on the empy legs as well. Get an aurore body, aurore feet, an evasion head, and an evasion back for your panic macro and you're set.
