Finally getting to working on Charis Body seals and wondered what most people did to get 10/10. I checked out the NMs and the quests and they seem horrible compared to other Body seal NMs and quests I did.

When I do a shout for an Ironclad, everyone laughs cause they know how much they can suck, and the quests seem like they need a substantial gil investment.

Amarok is fine, but needs 3 fairly pricey triggers still.

Thoughts?

We certainly get a good choice for our body seals... lol

I got the vast majority of mine through Amarok as I was working on upgrading up Twashtar. The problem pop item is the Tiger King Hide which can be found in yellow boxes in A-Altepa. You could do that in your spare time. (Admittedly, I did this in a glorious attempt to avoid spending money on those hides. I just farmed the zone for a while and if I got a hide I would D-box it to myself and go back so I had a stockpile.)

The Ironclad in A-Uleguerand can be a massive pain. It is usually best for a single person to fight it at its spawn point whilst being bombed by a WHM, and just have trigger jobs time between swings. In my experience, I'd strongly avoid kiting it as it seems to trigger Mighty Strikes/Invincible.

The Ironclad in A-Grauberg isn't nearly as bad but the same applies. If you want to go the quest route to supplement your body seal intake, try this one. It's very easy: go to #4, activate it, hop to #3, murder the wyverns, get item (quickly, hopefully) then hop back, zone, repeat. No need to spend money on that if you have some patience. The quest in A-Altepa is easily soloable by DNC too. The target NM isn't anything special.

I haven't finished my dnc body yet, but from experience, I found the IC in Grauberg is much more fruitful with dnc drops than Amarok. We spammed Amarok for blm body seals and KI to pop Orthrus and finished 2 blm bodies to a total of 4 dnc seals. We ended up moving to the IC because we noticed we were getting drops when getting the KI. We typically go with a full party, just because we have people that want the other seals as well, but can easily be done with a mnk tanking, whm cure bombing, blm and blu for staggers.

I had next to no luck getting these things to drop from NMs. Got 1 in 5 runs off Amarok, 1 in about 10 runs from the Ironclad, 1 from a lucky Dominion OP, and... the last 7 from soloing wyverns for the repeatable quest. That took like 2 weeks off and on to do. They're easily soloable and the drop rate is prolly better than 1 in 5, but man, that quest is merciless at giving you what you want.

I just barely got 10 Charis body seals in the time it took me to get 75 Orthrus claws for Twashtar (90). Now I'm ~30 claws into my next weapon and we've already gotten >15 seals.

I still recommend him as the best option, unless you have a specific reason to kill the other monsters. If you don't want to do Twashtar, you can sell the Orthrus claws to people who do for ~200k each, I'd bet.

Honestly, so many people are fighting Amarok nowadays to get Orthrus KIs for empyrean dagger/GA that you probably have a decent chance of getting the seals if you just camp around there and ask for DNC seals from the groups that fight Amarok. Most of these groups don't even care for the seals anymore, in my experience; they just hit red and zerg.

I've found Amarok to be extremely congested. SE did a great job at providing multiple ??? for the terminal NMs that drop empyrean weapon items but farming the KI's to pop them can be very frustrating. Competition for timed spawn NMs can be a real pain as well as competition for forced pop NMs from single instance ??? such as Amarok (especially in prime times).

On the positive side, farming a pop set for Amarok is surprisingly easy. The Tiger King Hides are actually quite common loads in gold pyxis and we never seemed to have any problem camping Ansherekh for the drop. The competition for Ansherekh is almost non existent in comparison to camping the Amarok ???. Must be because of ease of getting the item in gold pyxis. Drop rates were also very decent (with a thf in the pt).

At least with the Amarok route, you are also getting KI's for Orthrus for Twashtar items and Ardor Jewels for the +2 body update. Very synergistic.

Quest for body seals in Grau can go screw itself, have done it 50-60 times and I've gotten 4-6 of every other seal, not a single dnc body...

Just got my first dnc seal from this quest.

No, it's because Ansherekh never @#%^ing drops a TKH.

0/10 or so on it, most with a THF. I've never seen it drop one. Small gold boxes are a far better way to go (I've never seen TKHs, or Sisyphus fragments, or Jaculus wings drop in large gold boxes, so you actually do NOT want to get 128+ amber for these)

Thanks for the advice. I think I will camp Amarok and beg for seals. I spent the morning doing the pursuer's wing route and it sucked. With TH6 I still only managed 3 wings in 5 dominion ops pages. That's a lot of wasted time.

I appreciate all your advice, and relaying of your experiences. Guess I just have to suck it up lol.

That's unusually bad luck with the wings. I went DNC/NIN (ie no TH at all) and would get like 3 wings every Dom Op or so. Longest streak I ever had without a drop was like 6 mobs.

I did Amarok. Yes lots of competition, but personally I didn't find the drop rate all that bad. But I have a static and we needed other seals from him too, so maybe it just didn't seem bad to me. Took I think 5 runs of 5 people, so 25 pops total give or take, to get everyone's seals including mine.

5 Ironclad Sunderer tonight... 0 DNC body seal. I know the last 2 fights we couldn't get yellow proc. But still, it sucks.

I had 9 Jewels of Ardor way before I had 10 Charis body seals. I fought Amarok and they were by far the most painful seals to get out of the 5 jobs I have completely +1'ed. Amarok was by far the stingiest with DNC seals, and I got my BLM geared and saw two other BLMs get 10/10 seals before I had all of my DNC seals.

This(except longest streak was 11), with the exception of tonight. Did SE nerf this droprate horribly this update? I just went 1/33 on this damn wing.

I went the pursuers wing route because i also needed almost all the other seals anyway. finished smn and mnk before dnc, and only 6/10 on pld still. Also made decent gil and capped out merits doing this. on DNC/THF with only TH2 i usually earned 2 wings every 2 ops. i would get a wing, turn it in, and get another before i zoned. enter, turn it in, then exit again and repeat. that way i only spent 1/2 the cruor on buffs.

I got my last 2 seals from Ironclad Sunderer.
From my experience, this NM is not the nicest one to give DNC body seals (it oftens drop PLD and RNG though). There is only 1 time out of 4 fights I did last time the NM drop 2 DNC body seals (and the rest of the fights it drop 0 DNC body seal).

I think it's rather easy to set a group for killing this NM. People mostly interested in iron plate drop from this NM; They almost always drop, often 2 plates from 1 fight. Pop item isn't that hard to farm too. The pot NM you need to fight and get the fragment drop from it is not that bad as well.

On he bright side you can get these seals while hunting for Orthrus Claws for Thawster, since it seems to be petty good since the CF change. (i just did 10/10 tonight over 6 pop sets.)

^ this

that's probably your best bet, some groups may charge you, others will be nicer. When we were spamming amarok/orthrus for my friend's GA I got all my seals and we gave away probably 15 more to people who asked us for them, and that was without actively trying for yellow procs. I would like to think that most people are decent and wouldn't mind letting you have the seals they're not even after at all, but there are some real douchebags out there too.

I have a friend that did the grauberg wing quest and it took him over 500 tries to get his 10 seals, some people seem to have more luck with that quest than others, do it at your own risk.

Never see Amarok being killed, and if I see any shouts in jeuno, it's always by someone wanting dnc seals, so they are always locked lol.

BLM drops pretty well off the pixie in Grauberg. I got 4 in 6 kills and we didn't have a THF and got BLUscrewed on a couple procs. Kind of a rough fight though, with all the links and hate reset.
