Rudra's StormFollow

So I finished my Daka +2 finally and got a chance to play around with Rudra's Storm.

Outside of abyssea, it's pretty meh, but it seems to do better on higher def mobs than DE/Evisc does on average.

Inside abyssea, it's still pretty meh, does about the same damage a fullhit DE would pre-atma. (about 1kish)

But! There's still something it's useful for.

If you were like me and never got Pyrrhic Kleos, Rudra's Storm can open Darkness. ALSO, it can Double Darkness since it's element is Darkness itself. (which is something PK can't do by itself.)

So far my highest self SC damage in Abyssea was for 7.7kish vs Gnawtooth Gary.

1406 Rudra's Storm> 2994 Evisceration> 3312Darkness.

It's a nice toy after all, I was originally just getting it as a trophy. The Higher base damage pushes my average evisceration damage up by about 200~300.

It's roughly comparable to Pyrrhic Kleos inside Abyssea (maybe a bit worse), and a little worse outside Abyssea. The real good thing about Rudra's is its ridiculous fTP growth. Even at 300TP it doesn't beat Evisceration (unstacked because we're dancers), but it beats the pants off Pyrrhic and gives aftermath to the Twashtarus out there!

Striking Flourish when used in conjunction with DNC AF3+2 body will allow it to go critical (not 100%) AND force a DA.

Yeah, when it crits and is stacked with Striking Flourish with AF3+1/2 body (I'm seeing around 50%ish crit rate), this weaponskill can hit for upwards of 6000 damage.

After getting the AF3+2 hands, I'm pondering playing around with removing Reverse Flourish merits and putting them into Building Flourish to see if it would make an impact with Rudra's Storm. Though I think about the only thing that would really benefit Rudra's Storm would be the added attack, so I'm not sure. It's tempting to leave the Reverse Flourish merits for an easy 100% TP ... but with the AF3+2 hands you get 85% TP without the merits, which I generally can bump to 100%-ish with leftover TP from a weapon skill or a dagger attack round.

It is tempting to stack Striking and Building just to try to get a really high number with Rudra's, but you have to consider the TP you're wasting doing that. Even using Striking is questionable, but to use both you've given up another full 100TP. So it stops being a question of "Does Rudra's outdamage Evisceration" and starts being a question of "Does Rudra's outdamage two Eviscerations?"

I think using one or the other (Striking or Building) is not too bad if you time it with your Steps or Presto timer. Although it does start putting you behind in your TP gain. I just want to find a way to level out the damage output of Rudra's because it seems so iffy.
