I started Dnc back when it became "The" Subjob back in 2007 or 2008(basically, a long time ago) before I quit. When I came back, I realized 37 was no long acceptable to me, I needed to get all my jobs to 50(49 is SJ minimum, 50 = AF unlock and store for fun considering I have nearly every Coffer and Chest key).
So while working on SJ's in awesome Colibri parties in Ronfaure[s] I did Dnc and realized how insanely fun the job is. My "main" is Samurai and I just benched Monk so I've never really had a job like Dnc before. LSS: I love Dnc, I want to level it to 85 now.
There seems to be a "hell gap" in leveling. From 37-42 you have Colibri, from 54-??? you have Lesser Colibri in AU, then Puks, etc. All easy stuff. However no one wants to do anything but 37 sync basically.
I do not have the patience nor desire to sit around in Jeuno while I could be out there gaining exp.
Couple of questions:
MUST I sub Ninja for optimal exp/hr? I am really hurting for gil and am struggling with the idea of buying daggers for Dnc as it is, let alone any other gear I need. I have every other possible melee sub to at least 37. I know for parties, /nin is expected but for solo I wasn't sure if the shadows were truly needed.
Evasion vs Agi vs Atk vs Haste for -solo-
I know in a Party, haste > all unless not acc capped, which acc > haste > all.
The reason I ask is, Drone Earring vs Dodge Earring. Eva and Parry are capped for a little while yet due to Mnk and Sam tanking so I figure Agi -might- offer a little more? Not sure.
My gear is a "work in progress" but so far based on the gear I already have or know to buy/get...
Main: Mrc. Cpt. Kukri (nothing better on AH until Bone +1... crazy) -> Bone +1 at 46(need to buy) -> ???

Earring1: Drone Earring -> ??? (no Suppa, just redid DM for LS, but of course it was not full moon for item I needed)

Body: Windurstian Doublet -> Rappare Harness(IF I can find crafters for junk quest) -> SH -> Aurore?
Hands: Battle Gloves -> ??? -> Dusk? Aurore?
Ring1: Sniper's Ring
Ring2: Rajas Ring
Back: Nomad's Mantle -> ???
Waist: Mrc. Cpt. Belt -> Headlong Belt -> ??? (I know, Swift. AWFUL luck on Codex)
Legs: Republic Subligar -> ??? -> Dusk? Aurore?
Feet: Bounding Boots -> ??? -> Dusk? Aurore?
Those are my "guesses" for solo, for parties I have absolutely no idea and even LESS of an idea on what to do with Waltz gear. I know +CHR is good, but not sure what gear is worth swapping.
Those are my MAIN concerns... lastly, what do Dnc solo? Do we do the EP->DC route like everyone? Do we do EM->T because our heals are endless?

I soloed DNC before they gave us Dual Wield natively, but still went DNC/BST to 60ish killing EPs for Training Regimes. /NIN doesn't get you much solo, and once you start soloing on DNC you'll realize how atrociously bad our damage is at those levels. Charming a DC pet will help you dramatically. Also, I never bothered killing things that didn't fulfill a training regime. I recommend just afking between regimes, maybe do 2-3 in a row (get to the book at 23:00 and grab a regime, get another regime around 12:00 the next day, get another regime around 1:00 the following day, you've played about 1.5 hours and done 3 regimes).
If you're going to be solo, I'd recommend a Sword main-hand pretty much until we get Dancing Edge. Dagger DPS is laughable at low levels and doesn't have a useful WS. The increase in damage from attack is offset by the decrease in DPS and the loss of Fast Blade.
For gearing, don't focus on Evasion if you're going to be killing EP monsters. Signet will make them all miss you anyway, so just gear for as much damage as possible. Unlike later levels, where TPing in Strength is laughable, at lower levels Strength really helps turn your D19 weapon into a D23 and dramatically increases your damage. Pull out that Puissance Ring and any useful JSE you might have! Also, always eat food. I recommend Dhalmel Steaks (~1k each, last 3 hours). Once you've used one or two, you won't solo any other way. If you want to preserve your food timer (and buffs) in the field, you can enter the Training Regime menu at a book and that will freeze their countdowns.
In order of importance:
Food > Up to date weapons > Strength Gear > Current armor > CHR gear

For solo options between 42 and 54, do FoV. 42-43 do spiders in East Altepa at Korrokola Zone. From 44-49, Young Opo's at the Yuhtunga Outpost, and then from 50-54 head to Western Altepa to do Spiders and Ants at the Rabao zone. Just watch out for the cactuar, cause he can eat your face.
As far as subjob at those levels, I don't remember any downtime at all subbing warrior. It's not like we're missing out on damage by not weaponskilling at those levels, so I don't think /nin is necessary. Good luck!

Thanks for replies! Got my first MMM party which was actually nice, got me 45, duo'd Goblins in E.Altepa page and am now 46.9. Dnc is way too fun.

Quoting this specifically due to the trouble with gil part, coupled with decent solo XP.
One of my favorite solo spots from ~48 to the early 60s is East Ronfaure [S] doing Ladybugs. Wiki has them listed as Lv45-47 so you can start them earlier, but the XP/hour (and gil/hour) doesn't pick up until they start turning DC. You can get 9k/stack for the wings from the Seeing Spots quest in South Sandy [S], there's a million of them spread throughout the zone, they're easy to kill and repop fast. I usually prefer /BST for some extra pet damage, but any sub would work really (even /THF later on when you have no trouble with them).
You can make some decent XP (~5k/hour with Emp band, more if you play more aggressively, but you can be lazy and just engage, put up DSII and watch TV), decent gil and keep your flag up to possibly snag a quick PT in the area while you're at it.

Wow thanks a ton! I got lucky yesterday while farming BLU spells and popped over to Avis NM and got drop, so at least that is covered for free :D
