What do you use DNC for?Follow

I'm just curious...

Every time I offer to join anything as DNC I get ignored OR asked to come on a different job. So, what exactly is the point of pimping out DNC? EVA is broken in ballista, so that's out of the question. Sushi>Eva

Limbus is "ok" to have a DNC but we don't serve a real purpose there. Dynamis is hectic as hell and most of the time the mob dies after getting only one attack round in.

Even in campaign my PLD can do better than DNC.

So I'm curious to what events or anything do you guys use DNC for? The only thing I can see is for soloing. But if I wannted to poke a mob to death I'd do it on RDM

I use it for solo and small group stuff when I can, and occasionally for merits. I would love to be able to use it for more than that but when it comes to endgame events it's usefulness drops way down.

dnc can be useful for just about anything endgame if you have a group of people willing to try some thing new I have used it in just about all events sky ,limbu, assult ,nysul ilse, dynamis and campagian with prety good succes.
but i think the main thing for dnc is soloing if you are prepared and good at it you can solo almost anything.

Dinking around solo mostly so far. I could see using it for small group/duo type stuff, or perhaps merits and that sort of level event. Hard to justify for much past that, considering other jobs available.

Personnally my DNC see action is most stuff.

Sky: Support role, with back up healer duty on everytihg but Kirin.
Nyzul: Main stunner of my static, with DD and emergency healing (Usually ride this full time on saber dance)
Merit: DD and support, emergency healing (I never main heal/back up heal these, DRG/WHM/RDM usually dont have any problems)
Sea: Eveything inside.
Limbus: Stunner, support, DD, healer. Have yet to see any Ultima action though.

I usually try to balance my play time with both PLD and DNC in fact, as my LS got a good supply of PLD, getting to use other jobs is not a rarity.

I can fit it into anything really but I think its a sin in dynamis, I'd rather go Bard even though I hate it, DNC in dynamis isn't for cures its for voking stones but DNC is just straight out retarted for dynamis. Other endgame I can easily justify though DEBUFFS! DNC/THF SA or TA + Step of your choice to Lv.5 =30% def/eva/magic resistance down on a mob. If you Have Etoile Casaque and the mob isn't stun resistant grats you've got another job to do.


DNC is great in sky for farming pop items. Despot can be duoed with a ninja same with that huge golem whats his face. As far as Limbus goes I've duoed and trioed it exquisitly as DNC with a THF and sometimes a NIN, and I've been asked to come DNC to omega over my Bard because we only had 1 WHM that day. I did good and was never asked to change job again. Its not really that dancer isn't ment for endgame its that some dancers don't know how to preform in endgame.

I also hate to say this but if your PLD is doing better than you DNC in campaigne then either you have an incredibly pimped PLD with Homan or something or your just not playing Campaigne DNC right. Or maybe your just fighting orcs. IDK But when I'm on DNC and the bosses start spamming 1k dmg the only people left standing are the DNC's and the NPC's.

DNC is awesome in dynamis when there is a lack of either healers or refreshers. Drain Samba III takes care of most AoE damage, and your keeping on top of cures makes life for a WHM without refresh infinitely easier. About the only thing you might have trouble with is stuff like recovering from a bad mijin gakure where a good curaga IV or something usually mops things up. I keep trying to come to dynamis on other jobs and they ask me to go change to DNC because DNC just works so well in that particular activity. DDs argue over who gets to be in my party because when things go bad mine is usually the only one left standing, or the last to go down.

Other than dynamis I don't really use it for much. I campaign on DRG, do sky and HNMs and such on NIN or RNG, meriting is usually on DRG. Not much left for DNC in there. I really enjoyed leveling it to 75, because learning a new job that was so completely different from any other I'd ever played before was a new and interesting challenge in a game that's pretty well full of "been there done that". But after I ran out of levels to get, the novelty sort of wore off. There's a lot of things i'd rather take as NIN/DRK or RNG and leave healing to WHMs and RDMs rather than trying to keep on top of it on DNC. I may get flamed for saying it, but DNC can do a lot of things, and doesn't get as much credit as it should, however sometimes it's best to come on another job and let more traditional healers take the stage.

Mainly use DNC to merit with friends. I sometimes use it for LS events when we're doing good.

Limbus; it's great for low-man runs, or full ones if healers are better on other jobs. Never use it for Omega/Ultima.

Dynamis; If your dynamis doesn't have too many people in it, DNC can be quite good. Waltzes are powerful cures, but sambas are not really worth using.

Nyzul Isle; a great healer here, in my experience. Might struggel with high damage AoEs. Violent Flourish usually works a treat.

Not really used it elsewhere... mostly because I don't do anything else.

I here it's good for Moblin Maze Mongers.
