Ose
Well i tried Ose today. with only 1 Closed position merit, full eva merit, and alot of eva gear and jack-o-lantern as food.

Well, got it down to 50% and after a well placed Blaster in between shadows, my fate was sealed.

Gonna keep trying tho, i think i can do it...

I think...

Just go to youtube and type "Tren DNC." He was the original and did it all. Solo master.

Sorry, I saw a few posts that just mentioned what was killed so I decided to add mine. Im 75 Dnc with almost all my merits. Missing three but I dont think that they are that important to list. The important Ja's are Fan Dance and Saber Dance. I was Dnc/nin and used an Eva build to tank most of the fight and full Cobra to WS in. I normally get back 16-17 tp with DE.

I fought one of the Colibri in the area to get tp and then I went after the NM with 120+ tp, shadows and Saber Dance up. I used DE as much as possible against the bird and when the master popped I switched to him and started to use Fan Dance. This is the long part. I never WS with him and I tried to keep as many finishing moves up as possible. The bird shouldn't be a problem with Feather Tickle because you are not feeding it tp at this point and he should be missing a fair amount. I used CW3 as my main way of curing. Once the master was dead I switched back to the bird, got my hp back to full and switched back to Saber Dance and started WSing whenever I felt safe.

Fight was about 25 mins, no drop.

Did you use Drain Samba? I assume you did, since you had Saber Dance up so much.

In response to the baronial bat discussion:

My dnc is only 72 atm however i have soloed this NM on drg. I simply waited for the skeletons to move out of range, ran up and popped the NM and fought right back in the tunnel. As long as you're in the middle of the tunnel, you wont get agro from either side from blood agro.

Yes, I used Drain Samba some. The Bird missed enough that I didnt worry about it too much when it was solo.

Last night I attempted to solo the new dragon NM in Xarcabard(S). I dont think it can be done Dnc/nin. I have two more subs I would like to try. It is too accurate and the Def of Dnc/nin is not good enough to withstand 200+ hits. Ill try again tonight.

I did this as well except that once I got zoraal Ja to about 5% (pkuucha itself was at about 40%) the a$$hole thf that was watching me the whole time decided to steal the bird from me...and got the drop with it...

...I think that incident got me more pissed than having my trotter boots ninja lotted a few years ago ><;

Dunno if this is worth mentioning, but i tend to solo Zoraal Ja Pkuucha whenever i can. Its fun, and easy for a DNC to take on both the Bird and BST it summons.

But on my last solo attempt, i was working on the BST, and of course since im soloing the Bird becomes unclaimed. I never had this problem, but a pair of ninjas come out of no where and take the bird, i was so pissed. So i warped out and they had to start from scratch, i went back out there and it was a pathetic site to behold. They had to share kite it and wait for a WHM to come out to help lol. These nin were really well geared too.

So close to the end, one of the nina bites it as the WHM was trying to cast sleep on the bird lol, really? hahahah

So, its sad to see something a DNC can do easily, 2 nin and a whm could not...

DNC FTW!

I solo this NM all the time on thf and in my early days this was a constant problem. A lot of RMT on Garuda camp this nm too.

The only way I've ben able to solve this problem, and my best advice to you, is to take it away from its spawn point past the spiders but before the Ameretats (The opposite direction of the ley point and not towards al zhabi).

Out of all the times I've soloed it when someone watched me, only 2 people didn't steal it.

I kind of think SE is pissed that people are soloing it. My old strategy was to keep the bird perma slept with bolts while I killed the BST. Then SE decided to ninja nerf them to be immune to all forms of sleep.

I have called many a GM whilst someone would try and steal the bird to cry "MPK MPK! Harassment Harrasment!!" (They would usually spam cast on it so it cast on me, raping my shadows and causing my death as well as stealing my claim.)

GM Response: You are sh*t outa luck pal. Yellow mob = fair game. Now if they didn't want to kill the NM for its treasure and were just doing it to harass you...that's different. But competition is part of the game that SE intended aparently and if they are just trying to get the treasure, they are not in the wrong (according to the ToS anyway, it still makes them douche bags).

Anyway. Long story short lol. Pulling it away from its spawn point should aleviate many potential thieves (no pun intended lol) from coming along and stealing your bird whilst you solo it.

You guys should try Jaded Jody too if you haven't. Should be no problem for DNC to solo. Makes me some good solo coinage too.

This is the FOVNM in sky btw. 99% acc so don't bother to gear for evasion like most everything else (it did miss me once tho in my regular tp gear which was surprising). I started off by getting 100% tp and 5 FM so I could fire off a PK > Evis > darkness right off the bat. I also used fan dance and let the timer get down to about 1.5 min...that way when shadows wore I could take quite a few hits and throw it back up w/o gimping my damage. Which is really what this fight is all about because you can't keep shadows up the entire time since they're wiped quickly so you basically have to throw out as many WSs as possible to bring it down before it kills you. Very close fight and I had to end up popping an ic wing to get 1 more DE to finish it off, otherwise its next hit would have killed me.

Beet Leafhopper

this is the detonator WSNM. It was more of a 1.5 instead of a solo or duo cause I did it for a cor and all she did was throw nin and sam roll on me. Even with nin roll down I still evaded pretty much all of its attacks (think it only hit me once) Only did cursed sphere once and a few poison moves but overall pretty easy. Just TPed in eva gear and spammed PK > Evis >darkness when it was up (did about 3 of them) This was far easier than baronial bat...

Well, I have failed as a Dancer, Iam dissapointed in myself.

Zoraal is an easy, (or was for me) NM for for me to kill. And today. I went and claimed it, ran to a safe place. And once the BST was out, i was doing good as usual...then all of a sudden, my shadows were gone (nno big deal, i just cast again again right?) Well at that point i froze..i dunno if this happened to anyone, just i couldnt think at all on my next move i sat there and watched as a well..oh buddy and i do mean WELL placed Firespit was thrown. Taking me down to red HP, followed by 2 very accurate double-attack hits from the BST...

Finishing me off. I dunno, this is my first loss of many attempts, and I feel as if I have failed at being a DNC. Just feel really horrible right now lol

Oh, and it happened in front a EXP PT...talk about more salt to the wound.

Afterwards i HP and come rushing back to find a THF and RDM duo claimed, and killed it eventually.

Lame day, hope it gets better...

Good lord did I over prepare for this lol...the only time he got in a melee hit was when I got over excited and ran out to claim him w/o shadows (or fan dance for that matter oops!) I think I would have been better with just keeping up shadows and going full TP gear for a faster kill.

Anyway, strat is pretty simple, keep eva gear up and yourself cured. Even with relic body and +6 mag acc I stunning him about 60% of the time. Didn't use stutter step though so I would imgaine that would have helped greatly. As soon as I started to notice my eva was holding out pretty well I just started to WS a lot more. Best strat would probably be just to get 100% tp and 5 FMs then WS and RF. Wait to see if he will do gliding spike or sturmwind so that you can quickly cure yourself, and if not, then rinse and repeat.

It's eva move was kinda annoying but I still had decent acc even with it up (popped a marinara pizza +1 as soon as I claimed) but when he did, I just hit him with pyrric kleos.

Overall a fun and easy fight, was able to take him down in a little over 11 mins...too bad I didn't get drop so I'll be out there again soon ; ;

Oh and Tren if you're still lurking around these forums...thanks for the inspiration ;)

Edit: just went back out there and killed it again 1/2 on sirocco!!! XD

Bodach

The Asuran Fists NM. This was incredibly difficult because in order to fight Bodach without linking mobs in the area you need to pull him to the other side of the zone. Mastering the pull is very challenging, several practice runs usually ended with me training half of the zone. Also if you run too far ahead of him he will deaggro and you have to go back and chase him down.

The fight is VERY challenging. Bodach hits unbelievably hard, three of his attacks was usually enough to put me in the red. He also AOE's often enough that you will sometimes find a fresh application of shadows instantly wiped out. I wore evasion in absolutely every slot and macrod as much haste as possible for Utsusemi. Fan Dance was also essential, I honestly don't think it would have been possible without it.

The fight lasted 28 minutes. It went on for so long it really felt like I was hitting him with toothpicks. At one point he got me down to 25hp but I was lucky enough to get shadows back up! Not counting practice runs I went 1/2 on him. The first real attempt as a NIN/DNC he wiped the floor with me so I switched to DNC/NIN.

Sluagh

This is the new ghost type NM in Fei'yin. I've been spamming Azure key for the past few weeks and decided to give it a try.

First of all this guy hits pretty hard so I strictly advise to keep Fan dance up at all times and TP in full eva gear. Even then I was only evading about half of it's attacks so having good skills in keeping up shadows is a must as well. The entire time seemed like a battle to survive until the next fan dance recast.

At first the fight is pretty slow, again he hits hard and occasionally uses grave reel which will wipe your shadows and drain some of your HP (for me it was 118 every single time) but my melee hits were hitting pretty low and it has a ton of HP. Just take it steady with your WSs. I would always get to 100% tp and 5 FM, WS, wait to see if it would grave reel just in case I had to VF to get shadows back up (which VF landed surprisingly well) then rinse and repeat.

The fun part comes when it gets down to about 25% health. It starts to spam grave reel after every 3rd or 4th attack round. It also seemed to double attack more during this time. So kill speed literally slows down to a crawl because you will be spending most if not all of your tp healing yourself. I used Trance around this time too. Don't think it was really needed, but I was at the 45ish min mark and I just wanted it dead, so used that TP I accumulated to WS it down.

Overall this was one of the most fun solos I've done so far. It really tests your skill and patience as a solo DNC. I probably could have made it a lot easier by getting TP and FMs before engaging....or for that matter, eating some attack food lol...

Oh and like most of the new NMs I didn't get the drop...but I lived and it died...thats reward enough XD

I duo'd Marquis Sabnock the other day, RDM and DNC. It's a pretty epic battle; Violent Flourish does really well at stunning Quadrastrike, but miss one and you'd better have a waltz ready. The RDM mostly debuffs/buffs, throwing cure 4s in emergencies. The RDM should pull with Stoneskin and Blink up and you need to be ready with Animated Flourish, it hits hella hard.

Hello Dancers ^O^/

I'm glad to see many dancers here. kinda rare to see someone playing DNC actually. DNC for me is just a solo/tank/fun tool. I do not play it much because I prefer playing on my mage jobs(BLU-BLM-WHM-RDM) but DNC has always its place when I'm bored - Here are videos for you.

- A dancer probably can solo almost anything so do not be afraid to try anything.

Some duo/trio I've done :

*Amikiri* yeah was harsh fight T.T

*Bune* kinda scary. ^^;

*Ungur* not too hard.

*Taxim* Pretty easy you can solo this by stunning its GA- Its ACC is horrible. you could go /war /blu /anything. It did not hit me at all.

*Charybdis* Easy fight- A dancer can solo this with no problems in full EVA setup as DNC/NIN.

*Lord of Onzozo* boring/easy fight.

*Barbaric Weapon* Only its TP move is kinda bah. Fan Dance go go !

All of them can be soloed by skilled dancer only Amikiri that I'm not sure about because it can 1-shot anyone facing it. Like what happened to me ^^;

I just got done soloing the Barbaric Weapon in Xarcabard. As of now, I'm still shaking. I don't know if it's from the fight, or the fact that it is 52.5 degrees in my apartment. This was a pretty damn tricky fight that's probably both parts luck and strategy. Obviously the problem with this NM are the Dread Spikes... which given Dnc damage, can give back about as much as it gets. Violent Flourish works WONDERS in blocking Whirl of Rage, and with it, the Dread Spikes effect. The first time I tried I got caught by a double Whirl which stunned me long enough to allow it the final blow. Round 2, I made extra sure to keep my hp up, and shadows, and fan dance. In the early part of the fight, Drain Samba helped counter the Dread Spikes whenever he got them off, and recover some of the melee, 'cause he hits hard. I think I saw 120's to 140's, not including crits, and his double attacks can put you in a bad spot quick. I had to kite once or twice just to get my hp back up w/o landing blows that would force a Whirl.

The worst part of it all? At the last 5% or so, his whirl of rage spammage was nasty, and so he kept having dread spikes... so all of my melee was balancing out with the spikes and I was at a standstill for a few minutes. A good stun or two and the spikes wore off, and I chanced a finish with a WS and won. No drop though.... but that was fun. I'm wanting to mess with the Marid NM in Bhaflau that drops the Corsair gun. I can solo Marids and Grand Marids with relative ease. Supposedly NM Marid doesn't spawn Chigoes, so unless he has some nasty trick, I'm hoping I can survive his onslaught.

.... I friggin' love Dancer.

Edit: I said Saber Dance instead of Drain Samba. Fixed. Hoo boy... Saber Dance would really wreck my $#!+ with those Dread Spikes....

JUST did Cemetary Cherry on DNC - mostly to see how much work I needed on solo and even if I could with my lack of merits in DNC. Worked out for me though :)

Strait tanking obviously, in full eva gear. Caped eva, 4/4 eva merits, but nothing in Closed Position or any other DNC merits beyond one in Saber and Fan Dance. Total Eva = 264 + 10 from Boxers, plus a total of +68 Eva from gear. I was deffinatly at the Eva cap on this guy, as he only hit me 1 out of 10 times, if that. TP moves were SLOW coming (Subtle Blow and Eva means a lot less TP for the mob ^^). Kept TP at 300% and 5 Finishing moves to handle Violent Flourish when he started to cast a -ga. Those were the biggest threat. Entangles poison hurt and sometimes Healing Waltz would take Bind off first. That was the only time I was in Danger (unless a random -ga got off). 660 HP made me nervous against Pincone Bomb, as it was hitting me for about 700. I'd suggest some Antidotes just in case. Paralyga was pretty weak, always got it off with Healing Waltz. I have relic body, so VF landed 95% of the time (only missed twice the whole fight). He hit for about 110 each time. Strat: Keep haste samba up unless you're needing HP/poisoned. Keep at least 2 FM ready and stop the -ga's, and just keep chipping away at him. Pinecone Bomb = Ni >>> CW IV. Leafstorm = Healing >>> Utsusemi. The slow is killer on Ni's Timer, hate to see it on Ichi. He did use Blood Weapon, but the only time he hit me, I had shadows up. Took about an hour or less - was fun. Crap Drops, and 20k Gil

I soloed Windy Mission 6-2 earlier today (Balga Dais fight). 1/3 on it actually. Full merits, and the only bonus I had was from Signet. The Kupowers in effect didn't give any combat bonuses this week. My first attempt, I decided to take down the Whm first to knock out any healing of the others while I was fighting them. Everything went fine until the Nin's paralysis spell blocked one of my waltzes, and I couldn't recover in time and got dropped by a Holy.

2nd time I tried the Ninja first and got him low, but shadows were down and I ate a couple of hefty spells from the Smn's elemental Ancient Magic and the WHM's Holy... again.

3rd time I went in, started on the Ninja, and when things started getting hairy, popped Trance and topped off my HP and kept the free tp. When the Nin was near 50%, I self-chained Darkness and dropped him low enough so that his 2hr didn't do much damage. Healed back up and finished him off. I then went after the SAM, and one less attacker made a world of difference for survivability. I kept hp up and when the SAM was low enough, self-chained Darkness again to drop him before his 2hr went off. Took down Whm after, and by this point the SMN's elemental had exhausted all its MP, so I only had to worry about the WHM's spells. WHM 2hrd, and then got spanked. All that was left was the SMN, and at about 60% or so it 2hrd and took off around 500 or so hp. Cake after that.

So yeah... was a bit of a fun challenge.

I did these quite a while back but just got lazy in posting them

Atkorkamuy

I actually went 1/2 on him. Basically fight him with full Eva gear and you will be fine. The first time I wasn't paying attention and stayed in my haste gear after a shadow cast...ate dirt pretty quickly

As with most of the new NMs, he spams his TP move quite a bit once he gets down to 25%. Just keep Eva gear, shadows, and fan dance up and ride him out.

Charybdis

The most nerve wracking solo I've done to date lol. First time I fought him was actually a duo but I made 3 big mistakes: I WSed too much, I didn't use bibiki shell, and once I got "comfortable" I got "cocky". Ended up not being prepared for a double whirlwind and 4 consecutive melée hits...which I could have easily cured myself and survived to.

Anyway, it's pretty easy as long as you're cautious. NEVER step out of your Eva gear unless it's absolutely necessary. Not even for shadow recasts unless you are just using Ni. I have a fairly robust Eva setup and he was wiping a shadow maybe once every 6 or 7 swings. If you have bat earrings these will help that much more because of his ink move. But just keep TPing him and box step when needed. I popped a m pizza +1 so quick step wasn't needed. Oh and I'm not exactly sure how much mag acc is needed, but with +16 in my setup (with relic body of course) I was landing VF 100% of the time w/o stutter step. So definitely abuse VF when you can.

Just remember...don't get cocky, take things slow and you will have a shiny new blue sword (which is almost worthless for this job lulz....but I digress)

oh and in case you're wondering why I did it, it was strictly for the challenge. I've had a joyeuse for years and didn't need one this time. And before you ask...I was nice enough to let him go at 1ish% so someone else could claim him.

Plague Chigoe

This is the NM for the Caedarva Mire map. For this...throw away EVERYTHING you know about DNC soloing lol. In other words this is NOT a typical Eva gear-fan dance-wait and survive type of fight. You may be lucky to evade some of his attacks but he hits so fast that your tp will not keep up with curing.

Here's what I did: 100% tp and 5 FM. Pop it and saber dance and solo darkness. For me this took about 40% of his health but just in that short time all my shadows were down and my health was half gone. Immediately pop fan dance, NFR, VF, and get shadows back up. From here you have to ride your tp as much as you can to cure yourself back up...don't even bother with steps. After I was cured, I popped another VF and got shadows back up again. Fan dance was already gone to it's minimum but just keep it up. From this point the longer you allow the fight to go on, the worse it will get, so again I just rode my tp until I had enough to WS. When I finally did, I was well into the red so it was trance time. Only cured myself when needed because I didn't want to slow down TP gain. After 2 more DEs, trance was down and health was dropping again quickly. Here is where I wish I had an ic wing because that would have simply finished it off, but instead I just stepped, VF, got shadows back up, hit Eva gear macro...then prayed lol...I only evaded about 1 in 10 hits or so, but it was enough for me to tp the rest of his health off...with me in the low double digits of health.

Anyway, those are my most recent solos. I'm gonna tweak my gear just a bit more before I go after anything else...but gotta find something worthy of a challenge first ;)

I almost soloed Marquis Sabnock. It just happened to be there when we were farming coffer keys, I got it down to 5% or so (brutal fight, that quadrastrike is mean), then thf and pld showed up to "help". Thf decided that he can't even risk pulling hate (not bloody likely after 30+ minutes of me soloing it), so he decided to TA me, blocking me from backing away from quadrastrike (when VF was down), and what do you know, Marquis used it 3 times with literally no delay. Kitty down! Even fan dance didn't save me from that. :(

Was kinda funny that it dropped both the thf and the pld in 2 minutes flat (with both 2hrs used) and they ended up zombie'ing it to get it dead.

Eva set, fan dance merited once, closed position merited 4 times. Tried to stun quadrastrike, and held all the tp I could get my hands on for cures.

I haven't really soloed anything else worth mentioning, I don't go out of my way to solo stuff :P I almost always have either thf or rdm friend with me. With them I've killed Charybris, Baronial Bat, what's-his-name Savage Blade scorpion and a bunch of plain old IT++ mobs.

Soloed Sandy 7-2, The Secret Weapon. Honestly wasn't a tough fight by any means. Took down the Warmachines first, then Drg, Pld, then Rng. Used Fan Dance at start to counter overwhelming melee attacks, and even then they missed a good bit. After half of the opposition was down, switched to Saber Dance and finished them off. Much easier than the Windy mission I soloed.

Purushamriga - Weakness x2

Runes:
04, 13, 19, 20, 94, 108 - I copied this tabula from Duplidoc.

Both Peon and Weakness are in there. I just wanted to see if I could take out his weakest version before trying to move up a step; there was no drop, not that I really expected one.

It was much easier than I expected. Total, I had +73 evasion, counting equipment, merits, food (jackolantern), etc. I don't have much powerful equipment, so a number near there should be attainable for most people. At the end of the battle, I had evaded 56% of Purushamriga's attacks. I was able to ride :Ichi for the most part, using :Ni for emergencies.

He used Healing Breeze 3 times during the fight, one of which I stunned out of pure luck getting ready to recast Utsu. Breeze healed him about 1,800 or so, with one healing about 3,600.

I'll keep trying until I end up pulling a drop out of this, or (more likely) get a group to attempt a more difficult version.

Edit: I've fought this version a dozen times now. I've become pretty comfortable with the battle. I don't use jackolanterns anymore since it's obvious I'm not hurting for evasion. I usually don't even bring Echo Drops. During the battle I leave Saber Dance and Haste Samba up for as long as possible, and swap to Fan Dance only during emergencies (for example, last fight I did a WS and he silenced me right as I ran out of shadows). If you keep your shadows up for the most part, this fight is cake. Now if he would only drop the dagger...0/13. Who knows if he can even drop it while so weak?

Purushamriga - Base Version
The only runes on this one were the three required to spawn him: 4, 13, and 94.

This version of Purushamriga is not soloable.
He's certainly more dangerous this time around, but I fought him for 15 minutes with the same setup I was using before. I'm confident I could have held him indefinitely if necessary. The problem is his higher defense and health values. When I left at the 15m mark, I had only done around 20% damage (he used Healing Breeze only once, for 1,600). Even had I gone full offense I don't think I would have beaten him in the time limit.

If you have a buddy, you may be able to duo the base version, as long as your partner doesn't pull hate and get killed.

Shaknowa

FoV Page 7 NM at Valley of Sorrows.

This is an unusual fight for DNC. For one, the Shaknowa has nearly perfect accuracy. This means the usual max evasion setup just doesn't work. He also has a random En- effect up, which can either be fatal (EnPetrify) or a minor inconvenience. The key here is to build TP as fast as possible and heal through all the damage.

Built TP and 5 FM beforehand, and popped him with shadows up. I kept full Haste equipment on for the fight.
The version I fought had En-Blind, but I had Sushi up and kept Quickstep going to counter it. With Fan Dance up (and using Utsu:Ni at every opportunity and following with :Ichi) I was able to generate just enough TP to stay fairly constant while continually casting CWIV.

It was a slow fight (he kept spamming defense up) but was not extraordinarily difficult. If you have Fan Dance, as long as you don't get him with a deadly En-effect, you should be able to beat him.

If anyone's curious, the Warwolf Belt I augmented got +2 INT, -1 MND/CHR.

I suppose most of these solo stories aren't going to be useful for very long, eh? Level cap increase should make most of these enemies much easier. Except perhaps Purushamriga...

In a way they will for new dancers just starting out to solo, give them a good base to go by.

...they still will be a good for nostalgic "back in my day we only had a 75 cap" stories XD

I do however want to try THIS someday, but it would seem like it would take forever @ 75 so maybe will wait for a few cap raises lol

...damn so FN close...not that I died, but I thought 60 min was gonna be long enough to take him down (it would have been but had to wait 20 min for it to repop ><)

Anyway, just like anything else we solo...full evasion gear is an ABSOLUTE must as well as fan dance. Also bring a pair of bat earrings cause it does ink cloud.

Melee hits never touched me. Mantle pierce is the big thing to watch out for but you have 2 good tools against it: 1) 2 shadows fully absorbs it (occasionally 1 shadow did and occasionally the gravity move got through the 2 shadows) and 2: the move can be VFed without it immediately repeating the move afterwards (stunned it about 80% of the time). NEVER eat a raw mantle pierce...at my lowest FD it got me for about 900 dmg so make sure you keep HP topped off at least.

Anyway, pretty easy fight...timed out when it was 10% (doh!) but more than confident I can solo it with 3 stones worth of time...will try later on tonite.

As a 80 DNC/NIN. Set my 62 NPC to Soothing Healer and popped a crab sushi (a meat/attack food would had been better...). I used a Fusetto/Joyeuse, AF head to macro for sambas, and TP gear with evasion torque as my only primary evasion piece (no evasion merits as well as lacking NFR). My Fusetto was on Trial 1137 (Vermin targets) so it benefited me. I over prepared myself having stored up 300% TP and 5 FMs (unnecessary).

I full-timed Haste Samba, never used Fan Dance, and even used Saber Dance on occasion when I'm feeling cocky. It attacked so slow that ichi can be used reliably without needing to stun it. I used Dancing Edge as much as I could to my best judgment, and did it at times when I logically shouldn't and still turned out fine. Its paralyze sucks, but doesn't last too long and it isn't potent (but don't risk refreshing your samba while paralyzed, that would suck). Its poison is potent, antidotes highly recommended. I ran through one stack which was enough but it's safe to bring 2.

I let my NPC out after she ran out of MP, even cured her, until my slow mind got to me that it's best to let her die off then for me to use a charge on my Tactics Pearl for her to have full MP again. Her Haste on top of my Haste Samba is invaluable, and her Slow and Silence sometimes landed (Stutter Step supposedly helped some). It was no burden to keep her alive. Fight was over before my food effect wore off (so it was under 30 minutes). No good drops, just potion crap. Not even a venomous claw, but I'm content with the title.

Gieremund

This was kinda hard-ish due to the Paralyze move that he has, but totally doable if you have a good evasion setup. I failed the first time I did it with a full evasion build, but this time I traded one of my evasion Kila's for parazonium and forgot to pull eva feet out of satchel and still did pretty well (parsed 63% which was more than enough).

It's paralyze move sucks, but he didn't spam it that much. I was able to waltz away about 60% of them so wasn't horrible. If you have the atma that has resist paralyze I heard that was a HUGE help in dealing with that. Shadow claw hits pretty hard and will occasionally wipe a buff (for me it always took fan dance ><;) and occasionally will give you blind...which is good of course if you have bat earrings.

VF landed 100% of the time for me (@22% mag acc with no stutter) so definitely a good way to get shadows back up. Whole fight took 43 min, but that was with no DD atmas since well....I don't have any sadly (used TH and regain atma)

Well anyway, if you have the aformentioned atmas and a decent eva build, he's totally doable and probably recommended to solo him instead of climbing that damn mountain for seals. I'm already done with dnc head seals, but need to continue to farm him for thf (which he hasn't dropped any so far QQ)

I have that atma (Siren Shadow) and... it doesn't really help much. His nastiest trick is Dirty Claw, which can hit for upwards of 1000, ignores shadows, and wipes a buff. Fan Dance helps a lot to keep from getting one-shotted.

Blah, I got shadow claw mixed up with dirty claw. Yeah dirty is the dangerous one that wipes a buff while shadow does moderate damage that gives you blind, but is blinkable.

And the atma I was referring to was atma of the heavens from Ovni with resist paralyze major. I just got this the other night and tried gieremund again, most of the time para didn't even proc and a few times I evaded it alltogether. Made the fight 100 times easier.

Oh and forgot to mention, the undead killer from pizza is a big help as well when fighting him.

I haven't done much soloing (Tier 2 VNMs, random NMs, etc. I generally do Abyssea on other jobs), but I've duoed some things that I don't see listed. If I'm in Abyssea, it's a good bet that I'm using DD Atmas and meat. My basic strategy is to solo with my support generating minimal hate because so many things have hate reset these days.

VNMs soloed:
Skuld, Urd, Farruca Fly, the other Orcus one - None of these are particularly difficult. The secret to Skuld is to trigger Chainspell using Violent Flourish while you run away. She still gets 1-2 chances to Bindga you, but in general you're fine just running away. I haven't tried the Krab ones because I've had a Blue Abyssite forever. Haven't tried the Northernlands ones because . . . they're so far away q.q; Crag-area VNMs have much higher accuracy than old-area ones, in my experience.

VNMs duoed:
Leech King - DNC/NIN + BRD/WHM. BRD sings Mambo/March, DNC pretty much solos. Erase Attack Down before WSing, try to stun Acid Mist (or after Acid Mist so you can get hate back). Try to force him into Blood Weapon mode as much as possible, because it stops him from using Acid Mist. Don't be afraid to cure your duo partner. If you get hit, you're going to lose a few hundred HP quickly from Poison regardless of Fan Dance.

Abyssea - Misareaux:
Flame Skimmer - duoed DNC/NIN + WHM/NIN. Debilitating Drone is AoE hate reset, Cursed Sphere is AoE damage. He attacks a lot, but his Acc is crap if your evasion build is decent. Unfortunately, your Acc on him is also crap unless you eat Sushi, so do that.
Gukumatz - Duoed DNC/NIN + (I don't remember). Really not a very hard fight. His Acc is bad and none of his moves have one-shot potential in an evasion build. His worst move is Delta Strike, which is three hits so the odds of him landing all three are low. Saber Dance + Haste Samba, I think.
Lolibri in Misareaux - DNC/NIN + WHM/NIN or SCH/RDM (for Grellow) He's not bad. I think he has hate reset too, and one of his moves may mimic the buffs you have for a short period, but he's evadable no problem. Avoid getting locked by his en-stun and you're golden.
Fat bat in Misareaux - DNC/NIN + WHM/NIN Again, wasn't that bad. Fat bats are never that bad.

I'm certain Iktomi soloable, though I already have my Ample Gloves so won't be killing it. His Sickle Slash goes through shadows but doesn't drop them. Fan Dance makes him a joke.

Abyssea - Konschtat:
Balaur (DNC/NIN) - His Acc is crappy, but you want to keep over 2k HP (and get Shell/Prot from the book at F-11) so he can't one-shot you with Hurricane Breath. He gains spikes/enspell after using certain Breaths below 50% HP, and they don't go away (even if you die and run back), so you need to pull another monster and TP on it while you WS Balaur. I recommend Funguars. It's a bit of a hike, but they're good. I (Taru) used Carbonara/Gnarled Horn/Razed Ruins to speed up the fight and give myself a little more HP. I suspect that Hurricane Breath is a true breath move (approximately proportional to his HP/5) that he gains access to after 50%. It probably caps out around 1600 damage with book Shell on. I had him use it on me at 49% for something like 1560 damage (and kill me). Also, Balaur really is pretty impotent/blind. After dying, I popped back up from Reraise, re-claimed, and back-tanked him until I unweakened. He made me use Violent Flourish once or twice (it lands fine), but other than that weakened Utsu timers were plenty for him.
Hexenpilx (or whatever) - (DNC/NIN). Got his pop item off a funguar I was TPing on for Balaur. Easy fight, his Acc sucks. Use Waltz 4 after Breath attacks. Sunbeam cape get. This guy felt like a NQ Funguar with more HP. I think I even killed him in my DD-TP build, and I know I didn't use Fan Dance.

La Theine:
Brooder - (DNC/WAR after an xp party or DNC/NIN normally) His enplague kinda sucks, but you just need to keep your Waltz 4s up with his drain move spam. Keep Fan Dance on and don't rush too hard. It was about a 10 minute fight on DNC/WAR, GH/RR and Marbled Steak. I had to do Reverse Flourish -> Waltz IV towards the end (<25% HP) because he was using all of his drain moves one after the other for a few hundred damage. Took him on again later in the night with a WHM friend and it was a much faster fight. On DNC/NIN, it was much easier and I full-timed Haste Samba/Saber Dance. Probably a three minute fight.
Npfajkfaji Puk - DNC/NIN - Keep up shadows, nothing surprising. Fan Dance is worthless on this NM, because the only way he'll hit you is with Ill Wind (that will dispel Fan Dance and do about 700-800 damage). I use Saber Dance and Haste Samba. You can take out 25% HP with a good self-Darkness.
Chasmatic Hornet - DNC/NIN - Stun Terminal Sting below 25% (if he tries to use it). I used Violent Flourish after Frenzy Pollen and kited, probably don't have to. 100-25%, I was doing self-darkness with Pyrrhic -> Evisceration. After 25% I started sitting on finishing moves for stun and just stuck to Evisc.
La Theine Leige - DNC/NIN - True to wiki, you stun the (slow) Aeroga 3 he tries to cast once in a while and he'll never even use a TP move. Easy fight, though Brooder takes the "easiest mob ever" award for this zone.
Mangy-Tailed Marvin - DNC/NIN - He attacks kinda fast, but with Evasion it's not an issue. Keep your DD-face on. Technically wasn't a solo, because there was a WHM there triggering Blue for his cape, but it wouldn't be any issue at all to solo this guy. (1/1 on Cape and Abyssite) He has quite a bit of HP, and supplements it with 3k Wild Carrots, but it's still going to be a <10 minute fight.
Keesha - DNC/NIN - Easy as crap. Biggest danger is Vacant Gaze, which will dispel all your stuff including shadows. I suppose you could probably turn and avoid it, but I didn't bother. His healing move is also Erasega, not that it matters for us. Saber Dance, Haste Samba, kill him quickly. He doesn't have much HP, ~20% in a self-skillchain again.
Ovni - Not a solo (yet) - For those who don't know, this NM uses Invincible at regular intervals and gains ~-10% damage taken per invincible. So this needs to be a fast fight. Surviving/tanking him isn't the issue, doing enough damage is. You have to balance Evasion with Haste and Attack, keep up Haste Samba, etc. On my last solo attempt (unprepared) I took him to 81% by his second Invincible and called in the troops for the kill (Atma, no good items). I'm trying to figure out how I can kill him. I know that I could take him to at least 70% by his second Invincible if I used temp items/etc, but I'm not sure that'd be enough.

General DNC soloing for Abyssea:
1) The benefit of soloing things on DNC/NIN over RDM/NIN are:
* You can solo multiple enemies in a row very quickly. Most DNC solos in Abyssea are in the 10 minute range tops. RDM can solo one or two quickly using Chainspell, but then they fall behind. Chocobo Jig doesn't hurt either.
* More efficient damage for farming NQ mobs for pop items or what-have-you
* (the big one) Access to 4 Blue !! proccing Weaponskills. Shadowstitch, Dancing Edge, Shark Bite, and Evisceration. RDM gets two (Savage and Evisceration) and only one will be able proc at any given time. So you play much better odds when you do tip 2 using DNC.
2) In order to use the above tip to maximum effect, it is best to pull monsters at 6:00 to a Conflux. Use your 4 WSs ASAP, if Blue then kill, No Blue -> disengage, Conflux to 1, Conflux back, reclaim, Use the 4 WSs... etc. When it gets to 14, just kill the monster even if you haven't procced Blue yet. I've gotten a lot of Blue procs this way, and can generally repeat the cycle 4-5 times before it hits 14. This gives you about an 80% chance of proccing blue, assuming no one takes the NM. If you want Red !!, you can do this same strategy except it doesn't matter what the time of day is. Just keep Engaging, Energy Drain -> Cyclone -> Conflux out and back.

I'm considering not updating this post with specific uninteresting solos anymore. Basic story is, if it doesn't regularly wipe shadows with AoEs that are unstunnable or faster than Violent Flourish's recast then DNC can solo it. The extra 40 Evasion we get from Cruor buffs + GH even lets us full-time Haste gear.
