What would your dream AF be?Follow

ok, so i'm a little bored, so i'm going to speculate what I would like to the new AF to look like. Feel free to post your own ideas / comments (no game breaking stuff tho please ^^)

Regain +1 might be a little powerful but its only 1 TP/tick, so it shouldn't be game breaking.

The only thing I would like to see is, a AF Body that can compare with Scorpion Harness. It don´t need to have as much Accuracy as SCorpion harness, but it must be as good so that you can wear AF over Scorpion harness. I leveld two Jobs who wear Scorpion Harness till 75 and I´m bored about this look ^^; Want something new. So hopefully the Body has enough Accuracy so that I can skip Scoprion Harness.

maybe the regain +1 is feasable if its "whie engaged" or "dancer hits can cause a regain daze" to avoid just standing around waiting for TP
other than that i like the idea

I dont think any Melee DD AF stands up to scorp harness really. The best I'm hoping for is something with a useful effect (Enhance Waltz/steps/sambas) with a few other nice stats, like acc, att, str or dex.

Haste and regain and dreamy indeed. You probably know its impractical since you titld the thread "dream AF" so I'm not going to knock your high expecatitions. I agree, it'd be nice.

AF generally is supposed to compete with AH gear until the 70s, at which point it becomes totally outclassed. I'd be happy with:

* macro swappy head and body, because I doubt anything will be better for full time than scorp harness / voyager sallet
* hands better than battle gloves (+3 acc and evasion)
* legs better than republic subligar (+5 attack)
* feet that enhance jigs, because jigs are the shiznit.

I think that's pretty reasonable.

Yeah, I know haste is pushing it, but its only a small amount, and our job does revolve around getting TP fast (2% isnt unheard of - bravo subligar, patroclus helm).

I also doubt we will get an 'Enhance Samba' or 'Enhance flourish' effects before merits because it would either have to make them cheaper, re-castable at a faster rate, or stronger (drain more on sambas, increased emnity/increased TP return/increase WS acc+att on flourishes).

So I think Jigs are quite likely (longer duration), waltzs are quite easy to do (increase healing amount) and steps are possible (accuracy, strength).

What about increasing the duration of sambas? That's my main complaint about them -- they last an annoyingly short time.

My guess is that each piece will power up a type of dance. (5 pieces of AF 5 Dance types)


feet = Increased Jig Duration
legs = Increases accuracy and or effect of Steps. Maybe allowes for a 6th finishing move.
hands = Increased Flourish potency or these could allow the 6th finishing move
Body = Increases Samba effects
Head = Inscreaces healing potency on Waltzes


Dex, Chr, Vit, and AGI will probably be sprincled in, with a little Acc, Evasion, and probably something random like parry skill or throwing skill.

That's pretty sad, since level 7 Bounding Boots are better than the AF boots for nearly every melee job.

We'll probably get some DEX, CHR, AGI, eva skill, and some accuracy, as well as dance enhancements. It's all good.
Haste and Store TP would be great, but I don't think we'll get them.
Regain is right out. Maybe for Dancer AF2, but for AF it would be overpowered.

Seriously though, there's one stat I want on Dancer AF: -enmity.
It's way too easy to pull hate when you're main healing a party, and I don't want to have to /NIN to survive. Look at that attire ! Do you really think it was made for tanking ? No ! If you want to tank, dress yourself differently - and let me wear my AF and waltz away with a lot of -enmity. Please.

Just looking through some old posts before AF and Relic existed and WOW...
Does anyone else think SE took some ideas straight outta this forum?

It is about time SE started listening to its players and quit giving us sh*tty useless peices of AF that just collect dust in storage. Our AF can be used at 75 and our relic is absolutly fabulous!

Why is everyone talking about "new AF?" Did i miss something? Is SE redoing the DNC AF?

I wouldn't say they took ideas straight out of the forum, considering if they're worth their merit as game designers they already had a layout of what they're going to do before they introduce it, for example CoP was planned before Zilart even went live.

I personally would like to see SE put out an AF or relic set that is totally devoted toward 1 aspect of the job. Taking DNC for example. I would like to see something that's strictly devoted toward curing. Leave the body as is, but all the random stat boosts everywhere else, change to CHR. Maybe have a "Waltz Recast -2" to remove 2 seconds off the waltz recast. Even something to boost healing waltz up to removing all status effects.

The main reason I want it that way, is simply... mix-matched gear tends to be very ugly. Even in the short time one is jumping around curing someone... that AF body mixed w/ some other pieces just looks retarded. If they focused on 1 aspect w/ AF sets... then @ least during 1 action, the jobs would actually look the way they're supposed to.
