So late last night the news broke and there was a picture of what appeared to be the next new job...Dancer. Of course, a majority of us pretty much had the same WTF reaction to this. Disappointment pretty much set in after that point, but, the more I thought about it, the more I started to think things through more clearly.
Taking a look back at ToAU, we say two hybrid jobs come onto the scene. PUP was somewhat of a hybrid between a DRG with a controllable pet, and MNK. COR was a Hybrid between BRD and RNG. I started thinking about the later combo and realized that COR wasn't really BRD+RNG, but rather 1/2 BRD + RNG. A Bard has the ability to buff pt members and debuff the mobs. That being said, Corsairs got the buff side of things while being mixed in with another job. I think that Dancer will be the other half of bard mixed in with another job. Since Cor is a DD Buff job, Dancer will more than likely be a DD Debuff job.
Now as of right now Dancer doesn't seem to be all that well received by the community. A lot of people say this is just like pup, however, there were a lot of people who were excited about Puppetmaster. It was well received until the demo debacle at the Fan Fest. If you don't remember, during the Fan Fest, the Game Devs were showing everyone a Demo of the new jobs in a BCNM. Using their test server, they designed it so that the characters they were using would not take any damage. However, they forgot to program the automation that way, and it died shortly after the battle began. This disappointment, along with the fact that PUP was pretty much released as a BETA job added to the negativity that Puppetmasters had to endure. I almost feel that Dancer will go the same way. As much as I don't like the job, this is one of those situations where we can't really judge a book by it's cover. SE's "press release" for the new job won't be available until sometime tomorrow evening around 10pm PST. So until then, all we can do is just wait for the information to come out tomorrow.
