New to high level PUPFollow

I leveled PUP solo pretty much. I rotated frames to cap skills - and was able to keep my puppet skills capped until around level 40. I gradually fell behind in my skills from 40 on (I would level before I reached the cap; I even stopped using exp rings to level slower). Then around level 55 I started doing pages in Bostaunieux Oubliette and before I knew it I was level 80 (with melee, ranged and magic skill about 100 skill points behind cap).

I've been focusing on trials for hand-to-hand weapons in part as a strategy to raise my skills - and that's progressing reasonably.

I'm interested in feedback on which end-result H2H weapons are worth having. I figured the Pet +10 Magic Attack Bonus would be fun to have, and just finished that. I'm wondering if the Pet +10 Accuracy/RA or pet -PDT or pet -MDT would be worth the trouble and inventory space.

Lastly, I'm very inexperienced in Abyssea and know nothing applicable to PUP.
- do atmas that give STR, Attack type buffs to the master also benefit the puppet?
- are there specific atmas that benefit a puppet/pet?
- the one time I pulled out my mage frame it wouldn't cast offensive spells. I think I remember that you need to put in a specific attachment when you fight a mob that the puppet thinks will resist the spell? What was I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for your response.

The str path of taipan fangs are really nice when you unlock stringing pummel.
All atmas that effect you effect your puppet. (Only the reraise effect of Atma of Apocalyspe is the only exception).
Spiritreaver and Scanner doesn't go together it will make him not cast offensive spells, but scanner is useful in preventing soulsoother in wasting mp on silencing crabs/other mobs with mp.

Most likely your Spiritreaver doesn't have high enough magic skill for casting offensive spells on Abyssea mobs. Magic skill determines macc, and your puppet's built-in scanner prevents it from casting spells if it doesn't think it has enough macc, which will be the case if you are far underskilled against high level abyssea mobs. You could try macc atma and see if it helps.

Personally though, I would go for a whm puppet buddy for magic skillups. You don't have to worry about it not casting on you ^^
