Rani brew?Follow

What is the best WS, PUP can use to brew down Rani? Since Rani has such strong -mdt I feel the aeolian edge method isn't as useful as it usually is.

Also I do not have smite, so other than that.

Aeolian Edge with appropriate atma is still best for PUP. Even beats Victory Smite provided you have the right atma setup (same goes for MNK and Cataclysm over VS or Ascetic's Fury). Use Atma of Gales along with MAB atma - Ultimate and Beyond work well. Not that you CAN'T do it with Pummel or VS (or hell, Dragon Kick or Tornado Kick)... but AE still puts out the best numbers.

Also, if you happen to have a COR with you, ask them to put Wizard's Roll on you for sure, and Allies Roll if they have it since AE skillchains with itself.

PUP is at a little bit of a disadvantage against other jobs that can use Dagger since PUP can't use Evisceration. That's nice to have on Rani to use when she's casting and absorbing magical damage, plus it also SCs with AE. So if you have another dagger job, may be a better choice for brewing than PUP.

Those of you who have taken down Rani from 100% on Puppetmaster w/ Pummel, what kind of gear and atma did you have? I'd like to gauge how well geared and what level of Atma you'd need to take Rani down.

Yeah, if you're brewing with Pummel, since your stats are going to be capped any increase in damage is going to come from crits and DA/TA procs. So you'd want to use stuff like RR, GH, Apoc, Sanguine Scythe, Alpha and Omega. Only time I've ever brewed with Pummel is when we had a Raja fight going a little rough so I popped a brew and killed him off. I didn't have very good atma for it, but still won easily. As long as you don't heal her, should be fine to kill Rani with it too even if AE and appropriate atma may be even better.

For reference, I've never brewed Rani on PUP but have done so with Aeolian Edge on COR and won in under 90 seconds from near full health (one of the smoother runs I've seen on Rani though, got a nice yellow proc right after I started to lock her from casting and make it a lot easier to spam magical WS like mad). Gales/Ultimate/Beyond atma, MAB+/SC damage rolls, and little more MAB gear than PUP has access to - but for the most part any dagger user can get very similar results under brew. Did that Rani plus had time left to easily take out a Dragua popped by my LS under the same brew - froze my brew on the conflux, fluxed to them after they hit procs on Dragua.
