After coming back to the game recently and finding these 8 new attachments i was wondering how people are mixing/matching them with the old attachments for the best setup for various situations.

Atm i am only really able to get the first 4 new ones that were released, but from reading their descriptions they look to be fairly useful. Does everyone full time use the heat capacitor/barrage turbine with SS for party situations? What attachments are people normally using for

Party:

Solo:

Also, a question about the heat capacitor, do you have to deploy the pet for the attachment to kick in? Is there any way to build up the auto's tp while idling, or do you need to deploy, heat capacitor kicks in, then retrieve before the auto engages?

Thanks, Fantus

that would be pretty hard to do with SS because i dont really know what priority heat capasitor is on, if you get a ranged attack before it that could potentially be a bad thing, but if you dont care about something like that (Ex: mob is already engaged and being fought) then its ok, but pretty much yes you can build 3 fire maneuvers and then deploy, then heat capacitor kicks in, then retrieve.

for the attachments, i suggest go get all the store bought ones at nashmau, buy the turbo charger (or get the drop), and do ob, he drops some of the most usefull attachments. depending on your wallet foundings, you might want to just buy most of the droped ones from the AH since they are not that expensive anymore with a few exeptions wich sell for over a million, as for attachment set ups, experiment, there's a few ones that are a no brainer, so if you get at least some of the DD mechanics you should be fine, coiler, turbo charger, etc. look at the wiki pages for the attachments so you can have a more accurate notion of what they do. i could just give you the actual set ups i use, but i think is better for you to know first hand what the attachments do so you can later decide for yourself.

Heat capacitor doesn't fire before a range attack normally still I use it anything to get to the next armor shatterer is well worth it in my book lol. I keep fire/wind up when idleing the timer is 1 Minute 30 Seconds so you have to keep that in mind. It takes a bit to get use to it but since my burts got nerfed its better than nothing.....

  • Heat capacitor is great on any melee puppet. You can just put up a fire when it's ready for a small TP boost, or wait around unengaged to build up 3X fire, depending on the situation. Usually remove a Tension Spring to use this.
  • Barrage Turbine is awesome. Keep winds rocking with this, scope, and turbo charger. Just be careful in case you lose your winds right at 100tp and end up with a crappy WS. I guess you have to drop some thunder attachment to use this? Or an accelerator if you used to use one of those.
  • Power Cooler is awesome for any time your puppet will be healing (and you don't have crazy refresh atmas).
  • Galvanizer is great when for any time your valoredge may pull hate or have to tank for a while. [li]Barrier Module is awesome any time valoredge is out, and especially when tanking. This plus Galvanizer makes for fun times.
  • Percolator is obvious.
  • Disruptor I don't have but seems most useful for soloing certain mobs/NMs. Use only when needed.
  • Vivi-Valve I don't have either. Seems like you'd want this when (a) healing in Abyssea when ppl have tons of hp and take huge hits and (b) when you want a healer that won't cast -nas on you (stormwaker head). Not sure how feasible either of these actually are since I can't play with them >_>.

I dunno, these are just basics. Crazy situations arise, so feel free to experiment and stuff ^^

But yes, one of the major problems lately is attachment capacity. They keep adding attachments and we keep having to take off old ones to use them (old attachments still being good ;~;). Between elemental capacity and general attachment capacity, SE is going to run into problems soon if they don't make a change.

I dunno, I'm not a big fan of Heat Capacitor. It messes up your maneuvers by consuming fire, causing sub-optimal performance since you're then without maneuvers (plus having to deal with more JA delay by having to struggle to get 3 back up). And it doesn't give enough TP for me to be that impressed. The more TP it gives, the more you have to gimp your puppet by giving up multiple maneuvers. I'm more comfortable using attachments that will always benefit me and that don't remove maneuvers.

  • Barrage Turbine is easily the best of the bunch of the previous set of 4 attachments to me. Barrage does great damage and gets lots of TP, actually worth the cost of losing some wind maneuvers for the benefit here. Like Selka says though, sucks when you're using wind anyway (which on SS you probably will be) and the timer comes up right around 100tp, uses Barrage Turbine, then leaves you with a subpar maneuver to determine WS and it fires off Arcuballista.

  • Yep, not much not to like for Soulsoother. MP cost reduction and it fits fine without leaving off any important attachments. Is it truly necessary with the ability to deactivate/activate to refill mp? Probably not. But it can delay the need to deactivate, or save some MP for those times you're not at 100% puppet HP, Repair isn't up, and you'd have to rely on DEA instead of Activate...

  • True that they are good VE tanking attachments, but even so I think VE is kind of a lousy tank now anyway. It can't hold hate well and still takes too much damage. But with hints at S-E focusing more on trying to add things to allow improved puppet tanking, these attachments may become a lot more useful in the near future.

  • Agreed. Though Disruptor can be handy in a party too, especially when you have no/few other dispellers. Timer is a little long to be the only player who can dispel, but it's nice to be able to contribute in that way.

Vivi-Valve is indeed very good in Abyssea when healing, and I've used it in other situations. ENM60 (working on getting more attachments!) comes to mind, the puppet cures won't always top me off. With Vivi-valve that's another little boost to the cures.

Wow, thanks for all the replies, they are exactly what i was looking for. Im bought the barrage turbine and will most likely buy the heat capacitor as well, now i just need to level my pup to 90, get all the AF gear then start farming Ob for the newer four, they all seem to be pretty nice depending on the situation, i cant wait to play with barrage though, it looks like fun, 8')

I enjoy putting up 3 thunder maneuvers with galvanizer on monk mobs with 2 hours. It's very satisfying watching oniwaka counterstance kill the things. :D

Hehe, just don't Overload keeping 3x Thunder up! Epic automaton fail :)

Actually, in all seriousness that might be a great time to pop Overdrive.

I prefer using 2x thunder and 1 earth since barrier and galvanized stack ;)
