I dont know if it has been mentioned before, nevertheless, it's a nifty tactic i some times use, here's the basics of it, it serves the purpose of letting the puppetmaster unleash 2 powerfull weaponskills and get 0 hate.

-step 1: get tp for you and your automaton using another enemy.

-step 2: run up to the desired target and unleash your first weaponskill (you likely got hate)
Note: do not deploy! this is very important.
-step 3: Tatical switch and unleash the second one.

-step 4: Ventriloquy and immediatly deactivate (if you do it right after the mob hits you you can even deactivate activate with out loosing your automaton, but you have to get the timing right).

the mob is now hitting someone else!

its not like i discovered the black thread, but i hope is of some use to poeple that didnt know this. /salute

Indeed a useful tactic.

I'll piggyback on that by saying that occasionally I do sort of opposite and try to staple hate to myself with similar tactics. Open with a big puppet nuke, barrage, and/or a WS (particularly Shatterer for the defense down), then Vent onto myself and fire off a WS of my own. Boom, mob is stapled to me.

Again, a lot of us may get these little quirks, but especially for those newer PUPs or people who haven't played much with Vent, it's a useful tactic. I'm often surprised how when I hear people sometimes say Vent isn't that useful... but there are plenty of ways to implement it. It's certainly not just about "saving" your overzealous puppet or dumping hate off yourself to survive. Especially with Tactical Switch, there's a lot you can do to generate hateless damage or to give yourself a ton of hate, as desired.

Well some of you may remember that I posted saying that I fill my entire mog sack with repair oils, but on that rampant is where I do my favorite trick. On a particularly hp dominant NM I will DEA,repair, tactical for a double pummel, then get hit until I'm in the red then role reversal, repair once more then vent as soon as automaton is full and deactivate immediately (I have a vent deactivate macros), then repeat the cycle with an Activate instead, while I sit around with no hate laughing as everyone else caps their hate.

So what if I waste 500 Gil every 3 minutes. It's like ninja tools to me!

But this is the kind of thing most new PUPs wouldn't even comprehend. I hate when a pup asks me for help/ opinions and I tell them to get vent and Role they completely disregard it because they believe it is useless. If used right neither of them are even situational, they can be used consistently and well. For great personal profit

The other day I was duoing lambton worm with a BST, we had no healer and were even meleeing ourselves, the Bst had the twilight set so they didnt care about dying and when I myself got low on hp I would just repair/role or role/repair depending on my automatons state and be good to go for another few minutes.

This same BST prior said that PUP was useless for very lowmanning, but that was before I was doing a barrage for 1k followed by a double armor shatterer, then deactivating and the hate staying on their pet. And when their pet died I let my automaton tank until CB was ready. Yeah sharpshot can't take too many hits, but it took enough.
