I just got my PUP to 30 yesterday however I realized I didn't ask for a upgrade at 20 (I did at 10) will I still be able to get all frame/head upgrades or will it be available to me at a different level, furthermore will I be able to leech the job and not have to worry about stopping at the designated levels to get my PUP upgrades?

you can get the upgrades anytime really, and dont leech puppetmaster, you are going to regret every minute of it later.

You are correct, you can still get the frames/heads you just have to wait the slotted amount of time for each. Ps don't leach the job.

Thank you for the responses, it will be leeched LoL however it won't see the light of day as far as real play with my friends and events until all skills are capped. I'm not one to automatically bring out gimped skill jobs just because its LvL 90 but thanks for advice and the rate downs ;)

Well just so you know, to cap skills might take about as long as lvling the job without abyssea. So why not do them together?
Ps I don't rate down until I know all the facts.

Honestly your better off leaching with how long it will take to level the fair way (pretty much solo 30 to 75).

Just be prepared to spend a lot of time skilling later.

Can't stress the bolded bit of dustinfoley's post here OP.

I still get /t from ppl ingame that have seen my PUP in action asking me why they aren't tearing up mobs right and left the second they hit 90. And when i ask them how far behind their skills are, i'm usually answered back by silence.

But don't think i'm digging at you in particular OP. Leeching jobs to 90 is not something ppl only do with PUP. IMO though, PUP is just one of the jobs where doing so is much more detrimental.

Last thing, and i know i said i wasn't digging on you-and don't take this as such: You can leech PUP to 90 from 30 in a few hours(depending on how good your alliance is) and spend the next few months skilling the various frames in your free time

OR

Take PUP up to cap targetting DC mob and making use of FoV/GoV and getting the occa. party invite to a conventional exp pt(and those do still happen more than ppl want to admit).

Choice is yours either way obviously. But trust me, if you take the later route, you will be a better PUP for it. I guarantee it.

Thing is, if you leech to 90:
1) It takes maybe 1 hour to go from 100 to 230 skill in melee, ranged, and magic (well 1 hr for melee/ranged 1 hr for magic)
2) If you already have atma, going from 230 to 360 is gonna take about a month but you can atleast be working on useful stuff like af3, empyerean weapons, camping the last few attachments

If you level the 'fair' way, it is gonna take 2-3 months to get to 75, even then Id be willing to bet your skills are still not caped (for ranged and melee at least) and then youll zoom straight to 90 and still have a month of skill caping to do.

So your looking at 1 month of skilling up vs 3 months of leveling and another month of skilling up.

This. It took about a month for my DRK to be ready to do anything, it was my 2nd job to ever level and it was done through Abyssea and I really wanted to do it old school so I wouldn't be behind on skill because I've heard how hard it is to skill 2 Handed weapons but honestly it just wasn't happening on my server and as much as I'd like to with PUP I know even if I solo It will take forever and I rather it be high level to be able to skill up much easier (somewhat). I do understand you're concerns though but trust me as I said before I ain't one to bring out gimped jobs just because its Lvl 90. And equipment wise my PUP is somewhat set with a few Relic and a few AF3 pieces already done and Acc./weapons ^^* the rare attachments seem to be what I'm really worrying about D:

Saying it shall take 4 months is a very gross overstatement. Without abyssea and the new exp cap, yOu could level a job 1-75 in less than a week, so double that, triple that at max, and that's about how long skillin should take, if your doing it right. If solo, and switching up the frames you WILL be capped.

I'd be ok with your assessment here except for GoV being in the mix now.

Admittedly there will be a few lvl stretches where it may be harder to get some pages done. But when you can lock in to a good page and just start going, the prowess's you get(chiefly the enhanced combat skill gain and not forgetting acc+, HP/MP+, etc.; which all stack)) really rock. GoV is still new, but from the merits i've ground out in it, if its not your first job to 75 doing it solo will drastically shorten 1~75.

Throw in that on PUP handling DC mobs can be stupid easy(there's skillups right there). That's like icy on the cake imo. But i digress...

Like i said above though, OP should do w/e - its his/her account; just throwing out another option.

Really think it depends on how high H2H and Evasion are really, as even a bad pup with /dnc can solo at least T's without the help of its auto at 90.

Leeching Pup is still a pretty poor idea, there is not any real way around that rather glaring conclusion, but doing it the tried and true way altogether seems to be pretty far from the truth. I mean, I skill up all the time but I did spend extended periods in Abyssea and it worked out well enough.

I didn't do {A} until I was about 15 under cap at 71, so no Tier III auto WS. It took me less than one week, if not about three or four days to reach 90. Just got String Shredder tonight, so that makes it about a month, of actively skilling up when I was playing and going 3/5 on Emp armor +1.

So while I'm not condoning leeching altogether, you would probably be better off leeching and skilling up proactively when not leeching, then you would leeching and doing it all at once. I think a happy medium of leeching to 30, stopping and skilling up to 20. Then leeching to fifty, stopping and skilling up to 40, and so on and so forth would be the perfect solution, at least until your skills are that of 75. Then doing whatever until you bump your head on cap.

Personally, I find this to be the best solution at 90. Is to just always garner your TE from a worm party, or a dom op party, whatever. It might not even be necessary to get the exp at that time, but merits are good for other jobs, and you get at least 5-10 skill levels on average per party. Its imperative to at least have Armor Piercer/ Cure V / Bone Crusher first to get the full effect but if you intend on doing some NM runs, or want to go ahead and get some Emp armor for whatever job, spend a few hours warming up and building time to cap then heading out.
