Merit Locations for SoloingFollow

So after fighting various monsters, trying Campaign, FoV, and so on, I've become unsuccessful at finding a nice spot to merit on PUP solo and could use some suggestions/stories.

I'd like to find a nice camp to PUP/NIN or PUP/DNC at using Soulsoother. It may not be the most proficient way to solo for some of you, but I find it the most enjoyable. :) Anything that beats grinding Easy Prey and Decent Challenge mobs I'd be up to try. I just want a bit of a challenge that's not over my head for once. I've done PUP/SCH in Mt. Z and Xarc(S) but that gets tiring, and there's not much variety in mob selection.

Post any camps, strategies, and subjob & automaton/attachment combinations you've done that were successful. Especially camps that might be good farming. :)

Campaign is probably the easiest xp/hr you can make solo with by far the lowest risk involved. Worst case in campaign is you just get killed a bunch and change areas, worst case in other options is you lose a ton of xp.

I've seen some people solo imps, but it's just so easy to be botched by a poorly timed silence or amnesia. Anything else would probably just be done nuke/kiting, but that definitely get boring/tedious quick.

Personally I like FoV because it's so easy to get 3K (pup/dnc+VE works well) every other hour. It's always available and it's consistent, plus it requires very little attention and is low risk. It's far from the best xp/hr, but I've wasted enough time bouncing between campaigns that if I am not going to commit a large amount of time to FFXI that FoV is my BFF. And before you know it you'll have 17k grimmoire points that you can endlessly get regen/refresh/reraise/repatriation on top of trying to augment items (which will only ruin your items anyways T_T). You can also get a ton of beastman and kindred seals in Cape Terrigan, which can net you gil!

Realistically your xp/hr solo will suck and it's better to acquire allied notes or FoV points than to increase your risk for less in return beyond diversity.

There's probably some areas in sea you could farm organs/triggers for that, like jailer of faith pop. I know a mnk/nin can solo it so I would hope a pup/nin + soulsoother could do it.

Wamouracampas.

That's almost my exact sleep setup; but with a few changes:

8/8 enf, pluto, bugard strap +1, 2x morion earrings, errant hat, spider torque, errant body, errant cuffs, omega/diamond ring, rainbow cape, alzahbi sash( f u azure key), errant slops, af2 feet. It's a decent amount of +INT on top of some +skill.

Obvious upgrades would be: enfeebling torque, goliard hands, maha slops, goliard feet, maat's cap (or diana corona), balrahn's ring, 2x macc earrings (incubus, ASA augmented aptus, enfeebling earring), Azure Key or ASA last fight INT+ waist, and HQ cape.

I sleep just fine... I'm a taru so my high INT is probably effecting it some.

Edit: Condenser is highly recommended for solo nuking. Being able to stack 3 ice maneuvers with low risk of overload is amazing.

Are you talking about Wamouracampas or Wamoura Princes? Princes give much better exp, but are presumably harder to sleep. If you're doing fine on Wamouracampas, I suggest moving to Princes.

i do have to apologize for selka. he doesnt realize they are the same thing and this is because he is too much of a wuss to leave the protection of blm's at pudding camp to come duo with me on the far west island.

if you can sleep the princes then you can do pretty well with those. its not really the same as the tiger camp but i have horrible luck with the greater amphitere and he chases me down as soon as i zone in. the biggest issue i have with princes is the fact i cant get 3 ices up for a nuke since sleep is wearing off unusually quickly.

I've decided not to try princes until I finish Optimization/Fine Tuning/Magic merits, but the west island does look better to me. There's more princes there and the Wamoura there aren't true sound like the ones on the east end of the zone. (I tested this when getting my Wamoura soulpates for Pankration.)

Would Diana Corona + Errant outbeat Shaman's for sleep?

For variety, have a go as PUP/SCH with BLM auto sleepnuking sharks in Sea. Its good fun and they go up to T vs 75. Doubles up with organ farming of course.
