Is there a good way to skill up Automaton Magic fast?

it's not really fast but if u go to beadaux with the whm automaton up go to the curse machine and deploy it on a mob it'll spam cursna till it's out of mp. i'd suggest haveing a game boy or something else to do if u try it.
If your PUP is 37 or below, go Something75/PUP, the automaton can skillup that way.
The best way i found was to solo some ep to dc mobs and have your automaton cure you. It gains skill pretty quickly and you'll also get some pretty decent xp. It's always good to kill two birds with one stone.

i did this /dnc when i got up in the 60's or so. low lvl is more work. maybe a refresh with /whm for regens and cures? wear your eva+ stuff. hit a pug by the curse thing. deploy puppet, run out of melee range. the puppet will sit and cursna and wont hit the mob. mob will keep hitting you since you have most hate from that 1 hit in the beginning. put a dark up for refresh. maybe 2. and just wait.
does it take a long time? yes.
will you see lots of skillups? yes.
is it faster than trying to find a dc and fighting it in hopes of 1)no dying, 2)spells actually cause a skill up, 3) there being lots of mobs.
just do #2.

For the #2 method, you don't actually have to fight the mob.
The Automaton will literally just stand where you deploy it and cast cursna repeatedly.
You just have to keep an eye out for when he decides to go melee the target! Usually when he's out of MP

I found that using Silena at the Mute was more efficient and controllable than using Cursna at the Afflictor. It costs less MP and the crawlers have much less chance of wandering into melee range than the Quadavs.
It seems that either one tapers off a few skill levels below your cap though. At that point I found it easier to either go to the dome and cast/deactivate on the truesight mobs or go fight pots at moon for FoV/drops and have Soulsoother heal me. Either way it's slow to get the last several skill levels from cap in from what I've seen.

Unless automaton magic levels differently than every other mechanic in the game, there is no cap on buffs it casts on itself or you.

There's no cap other than the cap for your level since you are EM as far as checks go, but it gets slow after you get within a few XP levels worth of skill from the cap. You can cap your skill there, but when you get close it might be better to go XP or something so you're getting some sort of additional benefit from your slow skillups. At least, that's how I feel.
Logically it makes sense for magic skill to increase on buffs w/o there being a cap for the automaton because thats how most magic skills work on mage jobs (i.e. Healing Magic is increased from casting Raise/Reraise) but because the Automaton Magic is not integrated into different branches of magic types there should be no "cap" for magic skill ups as far as it goes for "-na" spells, therefore you can reach max Magic skill with the Cursna/Silena Trick in Beadeaux.
