Now this is odd. Not a H2H weapon, and there may only be three Campaign WS weapons??? Along with Griffinclaw for Uriel Blade, and Lex Talionis for Glory Slash (neither of which PUP can equip). No Bear Killer?

And don't ignore the easier to get Mini-expansion key items to do the fights. With S-E stating that augmented items get higher values and drop more often, there's some NICE stuff in there for PUP. Pet MAB earrings and back pieces, nice Acc/Atk back from final Moogle fight, Acc+ Angel's Rings from ACP final fight...

I haven't found anything to update from my current set-up or change my current goals in gear yet.;-; I wanted us to be on fierce belt, with the increase in skill I feel like I have to much acc and not enough attack.

Edit: square had a nasty habit lately with just making sure all jobs can use a weapon so that they can feel apart of it with little regard to it being reasonably. See the blue weapons last update.

so, are any of you coming around to my opinion FFXI developers are a bit stupid?

1) And yet you still care enough to play their game and egg people on ad nuaseum.

2) Of the 20 jobs in the game, i highly doubt only 3 Campaign WSs will be available.

3) MNK, PLD, RNG, and BLU are on it too. Goes to back up 2).

4) This is from dat-mined info. While i find it awesome that Tummie provides this service for us, i NEVER take dat-mined info to heart til after an update goes live.

I wouldn't be too surprised. They only showed those 3 at Vana-fest, and I'd think more would have been seen in the .DATs if there were more.

MNK PLD have staff skill. PLD and BLU can use all 3 of the weapons found so far. RNG can use 2 of the 3. PUP is the only one that can use only one weapon, the type of which it has no skill in.

It's a shame if there's no H2H weapon for MNK PUP, or a ranged weapon for RNG and maybe COR. But eh... I'll live. Moral of the story: Stringing Pummel is still f'ing awesome. Use that and be happy with your extra buffed puppets and higher H2H skill.

Agreed Anza. Me personally, i haven't been this amped about an update for PUP since....prolly a tie when Stringing Pummel was added and when WHM/BLM heads were added.

Mostly i responded cause xbobbobx annoys me with his constant prattling and his lack of resolve to actually quit if the game is so perennially not to his liking.

Well, I think all of Alla can agree with you on that one ;)

Those Campaign WS weapons really do baffle me too though. Two swords and one staff? Maybe there's something we don't "get". Maybe more weapons are just not yet discovered, or there are more coming next update. Maybe they're all just based on your highest weapon skill regardless of weapon class. It does look strange, but I've seen no hint that there's anything but those three skills. I'll hold out hope for Bear Killer.

Oh, and as for RNG... remember too that they can also shoot for TP instead of meleeing with that staff. If the WS is good enough and they can hit with it (perhaps the WS has a massive Acc bonus too), that's one use of the staff for RNG. Or they can use the sword they have access to.

Edit: oh to reinforce anza point. It's magic based ws so it can't miss. Just be resisted. I wouldn't use it on pup but i guess maybe against those annoying elemental it be good for people who have other forms of tp/skill in it.

the ffxi developers that are adjusting the game are complete morons, most people agree on that except for the a large group of people on this site that would have no problem sucking their dirty cocks because they love them so much.

the developers being morons doesnt change the fact there are still alot of things I like about the game, and doesnt change the fact that alot of people in the game I enjoy chatting with.

so how does the developers being morons change that? it doesnt but of course to allatards, they are too stupid to comprehend that.

so, maybe you guys are are ok with SE making stupid decisions, my guess is I like the game more then you, and I want to have more faith in SE to do things right, obviously you guys dont like the game because you are content on it being ruined, and you obviously have no faith in SE, because you think sh*t like this is about as good as they are capable of doing.

so ya, really shows how god damn stupid most of you are, most of you will have a career in retail, or maybe serve coffee to people like me, and in time, when you guys get some experience under your belt, you will look back, and take a good look at how stupid you really were when you were younger.

thing is, i knew the h2h would be lowered from A, i get laughed at, I knew the population was declining allatards said no its growing, called me a moron, and subdefaulted me, over and over I keep describing exactly what is going to happen, I am constantly told i have no clue, and in the end, I am always right.

and allatards are always wrong. and you will continue to be wrong, because it is your nature.

do you enjoy being the laughing stock of the ffxi forums? do you know why you are the laughing stock? because you are all morons.

You know, i've been coming to Alla since i started in '04 and posting since my whiny debut with a "woe is me" post about the initial ranged attack adjustment in '05; and in all that time xbobbobx that has to be the dumbest crap i've ever read. You've got a lot of anger pent up too it seems and that isn't a good combination.

I'm not gonna resort to calling you out of your name or even giving a point for point rebuttal, because you aren't worth the effort of me building a logical response. I will fully give my opinion however.

[opinion]You and people like you are tiresome. If something annoys you, instead of doing all you can to remedy the situation and then saying you tried when that's proven to be untenable and moving on; you worry at it like a dog with a sore on its ass that can't heal because the poor bastard won't leave it be. And that in itself would be ok, be you feel the need to show your "ass" whenever possible and make a spectacle in the name of "but i love this game." Feh i say.

SE does things you don't like, take it up with them. You send them suggestions(repeatedly), you organize with others to do the same; and if that doesn't work and you find the problems to be more than you are willing to bear, you exercise the ultimate form of recourse available to you-you take you money elsewhere. What you don't do is constantly cry about how SE if full of retards and drop little nuggets like ppl must hate the game since SE gave PUP a boost that didn't totally obsolete 99% of the other classes in the game and some find that acceptable.

And as to you self-imposed role of down-trodden visionary, stow it. That's all, just stow it. You made an educated here and a intuitive leap there and that gives you just cause to spew idiocy the way you have been forever and in the MNK forum more recently? Don't think so.

1) Loudmouth on a forum annoys me.

2) I say my peace.

3) I move on.

4) Repeat in future as said loudmouth will undoubtedly appear in future threads.

See xbobbobx? It goes like this(you should really try it only in your case, replace "Loudmouth on a forum" with SE, "I say my peace" with an email to SE, "I move on" with cancel FFXI account, and "Repeat in future as said loudmouth will undoubtedly appear in future threads." with avoid all future SE MMO products.

Very simple.

That said, get a clue and play the game, or not. I'm done and there will be no further response from me, so rage until your tiny, sad, lttle heart is content.[/opinion]

Looking through the Magian, there's some really nice upgrade paths, Claws with Pet Atk/Ratk +12 or attack for us +12 with STR +4, Pet MAB, and a few other really cool things. Time sink ahoy, I think.

Aesir gear comes from Odin avatar fight, by the way (and the Colossus pieces are from Alexander). It's a selectable reward for the win, not a random drop. You can choose from a pact with the avatar, Aesir back, neck, or earring, or GIL MIGHTY GIL!

If you don't have Pantin Cape, you probably want the back. It's good! More Atk than Bellicose and some DA! Becomes our new 3rd best DD back piece behind Pantin, and a Resilient Mantle with good augments (from Angel Skin Key, final A Moogle Kupo d'Etat battle).

The earring is quite nice too, particularly for those PUPs without Brutal/Hollow. More Atk than any PUP earring other than Fenrir's (during the daytime only), and the Conserve TP when it kicks in will cause WS to not consume all of your TP. It also can reduce the cost of /DNC dances.

I want the earring less for my PUP and more for Asuran Fists on MNK, because I already have Brutal/Hollow that pretty much stay on my ears any time I punch stuff on PUP. Brutal on 6-hit Stringing Pummel is great, but on Asuran it's useless (since Asuran is already the max 8 hits per attack round, Brutal's DA will never proc). But yeah, if you don't have Brutal/Hollow, or if you're somewhere where the acc from Hollow is redundant... very sweet Atk earring.

I figured i'd tack this post on this thread as opposed to starting a new one.

We've all been gung ho on getting the Aesir Mantle, that is if we don't have Relic Cape yet(its never gonna drop lol ; ;). And i agree with this pursuit whole heartedly. But dudes and dudettes, after you snag the mantle, do what you have to do to fight Odin at least one more time for this

Aesir_Ear_Pendant

As stated by Anza above, you can possibly have a better setup(Brutal/Hollow), but if you don't, try for this ear. It is pretty nice imo, ATK and an awesome added effect, very sweet.

I've been playing with it today and i'm really digging it. I'll have to actually start jotting down my TP returns and doing actual math, but just from my anecdotal eye-balling, its looking like when Conserve TP kicks in i'm starting with a nice chunk of TP in the tank. Over 20 and under 30. Like i said will have to actually pay attention to the exact amounts, but its noticeable.

Anyways, just wanted to share and say, go get one if you don't have better...after you get mantle of course!

Edit: Removed failed attempt at linking a pic and my fat-fingered 8 that shoulda been a 7.

When conserve TP procs, does it give you 20-30 TP back on top of the traditional TP return from WSing? i.e.: Would you finish with 30 TP or 30+normal TP?

Good question, but i'm loathe to say it absolutely does not add on top of normal TP return. It might, but just from what i've seen i am gonna go out and say i don't think so. I'd have to see it fire off alot more to be sure, but i have a hunch that Conserve TP is prolly like Conserve MP in how it actually works. And this would explain the fluctuation in above normal TP returns.

Not gonna promise a huge test, but i'll try to put my observations in some kind of order.

If you're going to do a test, use stringing pummel on level 0 mobs in ronfaure/gustaberg/sarutabaruta. Parse it with kparser for two reasons: If you add a wait and this line after you WS: '/echo KParser: TP return = <tp>', it will detail all of your TP returns for you. Second, you should be able to see a baseline crit rate from whatever you're meleeing for TP, and based on the WSs you do you should be able to see which SPs are crits and which aren't, giving an answer for how much crit+% stringing pummel gives at ~100 TP.

The second is more for my own curiosity, but you could kill two birds with one stone this way. Plus the TP returns will be constant (will only ever land one hit) making detailing what conserve TP does much easier.

I did some testing on Conserve TP last week, here.

Summary: It appears to return between 1 and 20 TP per proc, added to whatever your normal TP return would be, and it can proc on a missed weaponskill. The +3/+6 is the proc rate.

WOW! Thanks for doing the work for us! Very good info.

Now a question: Do you think the Aesir Ear would benefit single or two-handers more? Or would you think its a wash between the two weapon types?

Assuming you're referring only to the Conserve TP aspect, I'd say that that clearly favors 1-handed/h2h weapon users. For 2-handers with an x-hit build, only 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 (depending on exact gear) procs will result in a saved hit (or 1 in 20 for 5-hit builds). For 1-handers, at least 2/3 of all procs will save a hit or two, and many will save a hit on almost all procs due to not being aimed at an exact target TP.

On the attack side, in general that will favor 1-handers, though it can still be useful for 2-handers depending on the weapon and target mob.
