So, in light of gear threads and the ever present "COR is a DD vs. COR is not a DD, I thought I would pose a fun question:
How much of a gambler are you on COR? What I mean is, what is the highest number you will double-up on religiously? Also, are there any numbers you feel lucky when doubling on?
I will admit that while I am a pretty ballsy gambler in real life, I tend to avoid doubling-up on anything but a 6 on COR. My lucky number that always seems to be good for me when doubling on, is 1.
Also, does anyone here religiously double on their unlucky rolls, even if it's a high number? I know that unlucky is better than Busting for the most part, but I was curious.

I generally will double up on 6, and occasionally on 7, but there are too many factors involved to make a solid rule imo. You have to consider risk vs. reward in the context of your current situation. If I hit a high unlucky (like 9 on Evokers) I will often go for it and rely on Fold and/or RD to give me another chance; It rocks when you hit 11 from a high unlucky. I like to be on the risky side on COR because gambling is no fun if you can't lose. =P

I generally double up on 6s and unluckies unless I have a bust active, when I don't do either. The only one I don't screw with is COR's roll, because I'll be darned if I'm getting less exp than the party because of a bust :p
If you remember that unluckies are almost worse than no roll at all, there's essentially no reason not to double up on even the high ones unless you've already got a bust on yourself. You sure aren't doing the party any good with an unlucky roll.

Snake Eye and Fold really change your strategy.
Prior to those abilities I rarely doubled up beyond a 6.
It also depends on the importance of the roll. Evokers and Chaos I try to get the best numbers possible. Hunters, SAM, Healers, Scholars, COR rolls I'll not care so much as the relative bonuses aren't as game changing.

Without fold or snake eye, rarely would I double up beyond a 6, however it did happen. After, I almost always find I double up on a 7, unless fold is down.

I'm assuming this is prior to merits so...
I hit on 6 if there's no bust, otherwise I don't. Double 6s are just way too prevalent for me, and frequent busting is something that you'll want to try to avoid, it tends to make you look bad if it happens too often.
Something to keep in mind is that unless you are occasionally willing to hit on 6 or above, you won't ever see 11s on rolls like Corsair's and Evoker's, unless you are also willing to hit on the lucky number 5 which is generally pretty dumb

Before merits I always double up on a 6. Always.
Highest I'll go is on a 7 depending on the roll like if 8 or 9 is an unlucky number I wouldn't want to land on that since chances are I'll bust pretty nicely.
Sometimes I accidentally double up on a 8 and hit the magical XI, but I know that's a once in a life time thing.

Only 73 so far so no merits to help but I'll double up on anything below 6 unless its lucky. Oh and random 6s when I'm on the move and the camera is changing so I think I rolled a 4.
Edit: I haven't busted on my "oops" 6 double-ups but when I do it intentionally I've always busted.
